me and mr. {ernest} jones...

"Nobody stands in between me and my man, it's me
And Mr. Jones
(Me and Mr. Jones)."

Amy Winehouse

Shoes, jewelery...I've been in a long-term relationship with boxes
containing the two since my elementary days.

Though I was under the belief that my fondness for the
latter was beginning to waver {the former is a lost cause; you don't even want to see
my closet}
, my stance on that front has been completely reevaluated
since being introduced to Jewellery boxes from Ernest Jones.

ernest jones

The Black & Turquoise Watch & Cufflink Accessory Box?
Ummm...hello. I can hear it begging to be filled with Tiffanys

The Large Cream Leather Jewellery Box?
Subtle hints of Victorian Steamer Trunk inspiration in the aesthetic
have mentally transported me to another era.

The Oslo Black Jewellery Box?
That color scheme! So reminiscent of those Chocolate-Covered Cordial Cherries
they release during the holidays, yes? le sigh.

And don't even get me started on the Jewellery Rolls!
I'll take one in every. single. color.

As I said, it's me and mr. {ernest} jones.

How do you store your jewellery?

NOTD: L'Oreal Versailles Romance

Three coats of L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Trend Setter Nail Color in Versailles Romance. Peachy / Pink with Subtle Shimmer.

I’m not one to make impulse polish purchases, but my Marie Antoinette-obsessed side refused to allow me to leave Target without this lacquer in hand. Surprising? Mais non! Seriously, how could you possibly pass up a color titled Versailles Romance? Anyway…

…impulse purchase or not, this color has catapulted itself into my Top. 10. Favorites. Of. All. Time. Yes, it is that gorgeous. The formula is easy to work with - a bit on the sheer side, but very buildable. The shimmer {not to be confused with frosty finishes, which I am so not a fan of} is mainly noticeable in sunlight; but even when it’s hiding the color is just gorgeous. Feminine, refined, and sophisticated yet playful and springtime perfect all at once. This color comes highly, highly recommended - I may actually go back for a second bottle.

P.S. This is almost an exact dupe for Chanel Pêche Nacrée and NARS Orgasm, but a quarter of the price of both; so if you’ve been eyeing either of those colors, but don't want to shell out the cash, this is a great alternative.

I whip my hair {extensions} back and forth

If the Princesses of Disney gave us a false sense of reality about anything
{aside from relationships, of courseP.S. still waiting for my Prince to come},
it is, unquestionably, hair.

Tresses that grow in the blink of an eye? So not.
Undamaged locks that are always healthy and lustrous {without the need of hot oil treatments}?
I wish.

Regardless of the aforementioned damaging misconceptions of our childhood;
the Princess hair we covet is, indeed, achievable…with the help of hair extensions.

I’m a Victoria’s Secret hair girl myself.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Gisele Bündchen, and Alessandra
serving as my daily hair-spiration.

They have those come-hither locks that seamlessly bounce back and forth between boho waves
and über-tempting tousled tresses {styles that I, for one, wouldn't mind attempting
to recreate with cheap human hair extensions}. Truth be told...I don't think I'm alone in this statement.
Just saying...

Who do you turn to for daily hair-spiration?

I am unquestionably a creature of habit when it comes to denim. Light-wash on occasion; dark denim the other 99.2% of the time. It slims, elongates, and somehow manages to sneak its way into office-appropriate attire {when topped with a cropped blazer, of course}. Nevertheless, it takes a backseat to vibrant prints once the seasons change, rendering dark hues semi-taboo, and placing pastels and brights at the forefront.

Temper the pushy print and skinny fit of the denim with an easy, breezy blousy top in a solid color {choose one that coordinates with the shades in the print}; streamlining the rest of your look with fierce ankle-strap heels and a simple bag in black, white, or a glam metallic {think rose gold, or silver}. A kiss of Fuchsia gives you a powerful pout; while full, fluttery, lengthy lashes create the perfect tool for flirtation. Pull your hair into a topknot, slipping oversized hoops on your ears to sew it all together. They’re playful, they’re sexy, and they contribute the perfect finishing glamorous touch.

{beauty board} date night

A kiss of glamour is not an option when date night is involved…it’s an essential. Even if you’re headed somewhere as unfussy as a bowling alley for your Friday night frolic {one of my personal favorite evening date activities}, smolder, gloss, and sass in your hair and makeup will amp up the atmosphere, making you feel as if you’re in attendance at the Met Gala {even if you’re wearing rented shoes}. Here’s one of my {glam} date night go-tos. After all…when the sun sets, high drama rises.

{beauty board} date night

extreme lashes The best way to flirt? With your eyes, of course! Thus, feathery, fluttering, extreme lashes are. a. must. CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in Very Black is my current can’t-live-without. Use the tip of the mascara wand to paint your lashes, then use the side of the wand to wiggle from the base to the tips of lashes for dramatic definition {two coats}. Hint: Focus attention on the lashes on the outer corner of the eyes {it creates an intense false lash, fanned-out look}.

shine, shine, shine! Super shiny tresses are an ultra-luxe {and incredibly low-key} way to add life to your locks – and give you commercial-worthy hair. I like Fructis Style Brilliantine Shine Glossing Spray from Garnier Fructis because it’s inexpensive; it smells amazing; and it’s completely non-greasy, so you always get high, healthy shine {as opposed to seriously unwanted greasy shine}.

berry lips Berry is your BFF for date nights. It is the perfect balance between red {which can be seen as too strong and powerful}, and pinky / nudes {which are playful and more suited for daytime dates}. Opt for a sheer berry shade with a {subtle} glossy finish {I favor Tarte’s LipSurgence Lip Luster in Pouty}. The color gives you that just-bit-into-a-strawberry pigmentation; while the hint of gloss creates enough shine to attract attention to your pout, without turning off your date {boys are never a fan of kissing that so-called glossy sticky stuff}.

high-drama eyes Your lashes are your primary focus for date night {after all, they do the flirting for you}; nevertheless you want to make the most of your glamorous gaze, so go for sultry with a smoked out jewel-tone {I highly recommend Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo 24HR Eyeshadow in Painted Purple} worn all over the lids {deepen the color at the outer edge of your eyes, and pull it down to the outer corners of your lower lashline to create a feline effect} for the ultimate in high drama.

major volume Sleek shine is unstoppable; but even more so when coupled with volume, volume, and more volume. Before glossing your locks, create big bounce by blow-drying your hair with a round brush {you need Drybar’s Half Pint Small Round Brush in your hair tool arsenal} for major volume that will leave you with tresses that impress.

NOTD: L'Oreal Not A Cloud In Sight

Two coats of L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Trend Setter Nail Color in Not A Cloud In Sight. Bright Aquamarine Crème.

Hello summer! Yes, I do mean summer. Not A Cloud In Sight is like summer in a bottle. Though not a neon shade, the color is a gorgeous, gorgeous bright {we're talking Bahama beach water bright} aquamarine that is definitely more turquoise-leaning than blue-leaning {as the name may lead you to believe}. It reminds me a bit of Wet n Wild's MegaLast I Need A Refresh-Mint {which, coincidentally, I am wearing on my toes right now}; the main difference being that the WnW shade is more dusty in hue. If you're a mint polish lover {ahem...like moi}, this is a great shade to transition into the new season with - and looks just as adorable paired with a bandeau bikini or a little black dress.

This was actually my first time using a polish from the L'Oreal line, and I was incredibly happy with the outcome. The formula was absolutely perfect; and while the brush was a little bigger than I'm used to, it wasn't enough of an issue to keep me from buying more shades from the collection - which I've already done.

I’m not usually one for vintage attire, but the glamorous Old Hollywood ambiance of a pussy bow blouse is something I see absolutely no harm in embracing. After all, it holds fast to the grown-up, feminine feel we seek in our daily dress, without looking childish.

Modernize the retro 60s aesthetic by pairing the creamy chiffon with super slim-fitting cropped leather leggings in a black as night hue. Architectural nude suede sandals add a hint of edge without competing with the rest of the look; a croco-embossed nude clutch creates definition {while remaining the perfect carryall for your night out necessities}; and sparkling drop earrings contribute a flirty twinkle to your person. Tease your hair at the crown {center-part in the front} for a Valley of the Dolls-inspired ‘do that is high-volume, low-maintenance; and give yourself a sultry stare with a mauve smoky eye - a makeup look that is oh-so dramatic yet not a bit over the top.

{what to wear} the basics

“Only great minds can afford a simple style.”

back to basics

It may sound farfetched, but it’s the absolute truth. Being fabulous seems to take less time than being simple when it comes to dressing. When you enter shops you are often bombarded with sequins, tulle, lace, leather, and an abundance of other textures which are absolutely stunning, yet veer away from the basic staples one needs in their life to create looks that are downplayed yet domineering; minimal yet menacing; easygoing yet energized.

Basics are the backbone to the well-dressed young woman’s wardrobe. They are there to provide that extra oomph to your look du jour, interjecting a splash of much-needed je ne sais quoi to lighten up a glittering party shirt worn in the wee hours of the morning, or contributing a pinch of plain pulchritude to balance out the bodacious-ness of a faux leather pencil skirt; hence the reason why it is essential for your closet to harbor a fortune of no-frills fashion.

As with so many things in life, however, undertaking such a task is far easier said than done. But don’t worry darlings; it certainly doesn’t have to be. As long as you know where to start, you’re well on your way to heading back to basics in true fashion-forward style!

full blaze ahead

{full blaze ahead} Please cast aside any preconceived notions about the blazer you may have. I am well-aware of the fact that it is most often recognized as the topper of a stuffy three-piece suit, but times have changed; the blazer is no longer only acceptable in the workplace. In fact, it is quite possible that there is no more versatile piece that one can add to their wardrobe than a black blazer. Cropped, boyfriend, either style retains the ability to put a completely new spin on your look, and cast a shadow of change upon the entire effect of your ensemble.

Sophistication and elegance is quickly discovered when a slightly boxy, boyfriend-inspired blazer is tossed on over a shimmering minidress; a touch of hipster flair is added to a simple top and denim when coupled with a cropped blazer; and a plain white tee and flippy skirt easily transform from playful to posh when shrouded with a wool style sporting a notched collar. Remember, a well-crafted blazer will see you through countless ups and downs and millions of milestones; therefore, invest in a creation that you adore!

“Style is a simple way of saying complicated things.”
Jean Cocteau

{the little. black. skirt.} Despite its power and potential to literally stop traffic and work wonders in one’s wardrobe, the little black skirt is a piece of attire that is, unlike the little black dress popularized by Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, left out of the loop and virtually ignored when it comes to dressing. Far too many seem to overlook the chic simplicity that it proffers, whether offered via professional Pencil Skirt, flouncy Woven Skirt, or leggy Mini Skirt. Don’t be one of those individuals!

black skirts

Unlike the LBD, which often relies upon a special occasion for it to be whipped out of your bureau for wear, the little black skirt is a garment that holds fast to the mantra carpe diem. It does not lie in wait for a lavish party to arrive; rather, it seizes the day and creates a sassy soiree all its own! Top it with a vintage tee, partner it with lacy tights, slip it on with a slouchy sweatshirt. When it comes to the LBS, styling opportunities are positively endless; and each presentation is more stunning and sophisticated than the last!

{black and white and fabulous all over} Mark my words, a person’s closet is utterly incomplete if it does not hold at least two fitted black t-shirts, and two fitted white t-shirts. There is no more essential or inexpensive basic than these pieces, given the fact that they act as a palette for your daily style, and are a necessity when layering. They also retain the ability to tone down exaggerated accessories, like a statement necklace, making them more wearable during the daytime hours.

But do not at all doubt the standalone qualities of the plain black or white t-shirt. It may be a basic, but one does not need to cover up its simple style, or clean cuts in order to make it glamorous. Pairing a short-sleeve v-neck with skinny jeans and riding boots is a no-fuss aesthetic which juxtaposes between elegant equestrian and laid-back jet-setter; while tucking it into a pair of trendy trousers and adorning your finger with a bulbous cocktail ring establishes an unmatched urbane ambiance that will leave jaws dropping in your wake!

tailored shorts

{the short stuff} It seems slightly ridiculous to think that shorts are a part of the basics category; a virtual must-have in your wardrobe. But they are. Don’t get me wrong, up until recently I was not a believer of this particular way of thought either. I felt that shorts should remain in summer, and be locked away once the sun gave way to rain, sleet, and snow; but so is not the case. Just as skirts can make the transition from winter to spring, summer, and fall, shorts can as well – as long as you’re working with the correct form.

There is nothing quite as ambrosial and cultivated as a pair of tailored shorts. They do not have the grunge factor that denim dungarees oftentimes possess; rather, they reserve a more sophisticated air courtesy of the single-button closure, and charming cuffed hems which work together to bridge the gap between saucy and sharp. During the warmer months flaunt bare legs by pairing them with cognac-colored riding boots; once the cold sets in style them with black opaque tights and matching ebony-hued shoes for a look that elongates and makes your legs go on for days!

“Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depend on simplicity.”

{tight temptation} Loves, if you thought that hosiery was nothing more than a thing of the past, I am here to prove you wrong…so very wrong! Yes, feel free to steer clear of nude-toned pairs that are meant to look as if your legs are bare when they really aren’t; but please, do me a favor and fully embrace patterned tights, black opaques, and sheer styles that will take you through any season in true glamorous grandeur!

Tights give you the opportunity to wear any attire of your choosing year-round, given their ability to provide a bit of coverage to keep you warm; while ensuring that you look stunning from head to toe. I recommend having at least three pairs on hand at all times; that way, should you encounter a sudden run or rip in the seam, you don’t have to sacrifice style – simply switch out the ruined ones for a pair that is intact!

bomber jackets

{the bomb} It doesn’t matter if you own no other piece of outerwear, as long as you have a bomber jacket in your possession your wardrobe is in good standing. Bomber jackets are an amazing garment for the sheer fact that they not only provide warmth to the wearer; but they effortlessly effuse a rebellious aura that is both lively and headstrong, which helps you to migrate from one look to another with ease.

Keep in mind that the color bomber you select is extremely important. A black piece instantly gives off an edgy, rocker-influenced vibe synonymous with the leather-loving biker movement which is perfect for a smoky night out with the girls; while a caramel shade is more subdued and transitions easily not only from day to night, but from season to season, as well. Take inventory of your wardrobe before shopping to see what color would fit in best with your personal style and buy accordingly.

{legs, legs, legs} Darlings, denim used to cut it in terms of accoutering one’s lower half; and it still does – to a certain extent. One’s wardrobe should never be sans at least a trio of denim pieces that range from light wash to dark wash, all in the cut of the dresser’s desire. These three items of apparel alone will accompany you on everything from first dates to family gatherings; and shopping sprees to school functions. But I digress; denim is only half of what needs to be on hand for embellishing your lower region. The honor of the other half falls upon leggings.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…leggings did not start out as a favorite of mine, but I quickly grew to love them due to their elasticity, resilience, and ability to bring out the chic cosmopolitan sophisticate in anyone simply by slipping them on. Whether tucked into over the knee boots or topped with a bright-colored v-neck that hits at the hip, leggings are a must for the modern mademoiselle looking to be comfortable in her style of dress while keeping it completely classy!

“The well-dressed man is he whose clothes you will never notice.”
William Somerset Maugham

NOTD: Nicole by OPI Please Red-cycle

Two coats of Nicole by OPI Please Red-cycle. Bright Red Crème.

My personal nail polish collection is home to all of 0 red shades. Though an inarguably classic color, I always find that it looks out of place on my nails, so I tend to avoid it. Nevertheless, in an effort to try something new break my seemingly endless mint green streak, I had to give it a shot – and I actually loved it. Please Red-cycle is a richly saturated candy apple red with a crème formula that slides on seamlessly, leaving behind a gorgeous high-gloss finish that looks just as decadent for date night as it does during your 9-to-5 obligations.

{muse of the moment} Derek Lam for Kohl's DesigNation

I am one of those crazed devoted Target shoppers who counts the seconds until the release of designer collabs that pop up every few months or so, then promptly proceed to add countless limited edition creations to my virtual shopping cart {in the wee hours of the morning, mind you}. So of course this devotion made the leap to Kohl's when they began the DesigNation line.

While I loved the ladylike sophistication of the first DesignNation collab with Narciso Rodriguez; the Southern-California-beachy-waves-bikini-clad-boho-chic-Venice-Beach-surfer vibe of the upcoming Derek Lam for DesigNation collection {inspired by Derek's very own vacay to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and in stores April 5} has left me in a hazy, dream-like trance, envisioning road trips, boardwalk frolics, and perhaps, a little impromptu summer romance.

j'adore pura d'or {argan oil}

I’ve been in a long-term relationship with Moroccan and Argan Oil Hair Products for the past five months.

This is a big huge deal for me, because, unlike fashion and eyeshadow, I am completely unfaithful to shampoos, conditioners, and leave-in treatments. Today I love them; tomorrow...I've moved on and begun searching for a new soul mate. I've simply had too many good fabulous hair days using Moroccan and Argan Oil products to have loved them and left them as quickly as the rest. Which is why it was impossible for me to refuse the opportunity to try Pura D'or Argan Oil.

While my Moroccan and Argan Oil hair products {P.S. I still love you} focus solely on the needs of my follicles, the Pura D'or Argan Oil works the same type of magic in my hair {frizz reduction!}; but...serves as a head-to-toe skin moisturizer {oh hey there naturally bright and dewy skin}, and {I'm totally saving the best for last here}...

...getting it on my hands doesn't give me that must. wash. hands. immediately vibe because it also works. on. nails. More specifically, those ridiculously aggravating troublesome cuticles that we're always trying to keep away.

This speaks to my nail obsessed side on so many different levels - you seriously have no idea.

Gotta love multi-tasking beauty products.

Attention please...I think we have a new obsession.

{muse of the moment} emilio pucci milan a/w 2013

I’ve always been highly convinced that I was born during the wrong era. If my biannual reread of Suze Rotolo’s A Freewhelin’ Time and predilection for thick winged liner and eyelash-skimming bangs isn’t enough to convince you; then my unwavering adoration for thigh-high boots, thigh-grazing mini dresses, voluminous coats in furry and fuzzy textures alike, and capes should do the trick. So it should come as no surprise that the presentation made during the Emilio Pucci A/W 2013 Milan runway show made. me. swoon.

Face-framing fringe! Boots disappearing into the hemlines of printed minis, flowing capes, and trouser shorts made for chilly temps! Heavy-handed liner showcasing perfect doe-eyed wings! The level of boho glamour seen was enough to leave me in the throes of a full-fledged love affair with Peter Dundas {the creator of the gorgeous garb}; and coveting every. last. piece for my own personal collection. Now all I need is the supermodel height to pull it all off.

{beauty board} daytime romance

Daytime dates are my undoing. Though they oftentimes usually lack the high drama and sophistication of evening affairs; they tend always to hold the promise of childlike innocence. Picnics in the park, days at the fair, late-afternoon museum visits…activities which call for low-key hair and makeup that is easy to maintain from sun-up to sundown, and utterly enchanting - in a delicate and dreamy sort of way. Here’s one of my favorites.

{beauty board} daytime romance

first blush There is nothing so disarming and romantic as the Après-ski look – the natural rosy flush created by being out in the cold all day; thus the reason it is one of my go-tos for daytime dates. Simply take a soft pink powder blush {I love Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush}, and swirl it on the apples of your cheeks for a fabulously flushed look {no arctic temperatures required}.

twinkling eyes I am the biggest advocate of smoldering eye makeup; but for daytime dates, a soft shimmer is all you need to truly captivate your date du jour. Maybelline's ExpertWear Luminous Lights Eyeshadow Quad in Opal Lights is a must. The pastel pink, yellow, blue, and brown shades included create a fairytale-like prismatic effect that manages to be glamorous yet extremely natural at the same time.

soft waves Princess hair. That is exactly what smooth, shiny, loose, soft waves are reminiscent of - the hair of Disney princesses. That fact aside, soft waves are incredibly versatile as they look incredible framing your face, or swinging flirtily ponytail style. Sultra's The Bombshell 3/4 Inch is my current beauty tool BFF, as it makes waves in minutes and keeps hair looking shiny. Total win-win in my book.

pink pout When it comes to daytime date lipstick, it's all about staying true to the saying your lips, but better. Go for a color along the pink / nude / rose spectrum {I'm a big fan of BECCA's Ultimate Matte Colour in Eloise} that is, essentially, your natural color magnified. It's noticeable yet unfussy and works so well at brightening up your entire face.

va-va-volume What are soft waves without the bubbly bounce seen in hair commercials? Seriously in-com-plete. After you've curled your hair, spritz Oscar Blandi's Texture & Volume Spray {this stuff is incredible. Trust.} throughout for saucy volume that lasts. all. day.

Brian Atwood The Maniac Ayers Platform Pumps + Lulu Frost Muse Bracelet in Gold / Crystal + Hellessy Mia Cami in Ecru + Jennifer Zeuner Jewelry Small Open Circle Necklace in Gold + SEPHORA COLLECTION Outrageous Prisma Chrome Metallic Eyeshadow in Golden Peach # 2 + Miu Miu Denim Pencil Skirt

Pencil skirts are unmatchable in the fashion world – managing to effuse a strong sense of sophistication laced with seduction. The standard textures offered, however, tend to be too professional for my liking, making me feel like a child playing dress-up {never a good thing}, when really all I want is an urbane style juxtaposing a hint of playful with a smattering of posh; and so enter the denim pencil skirt. The construction blends the worlds of casual and cosmopolitan in a way that is always sultry never sloppy.

Up the flirt factor with a silky satin cami {flowy in aesthetic} that hits right at the waistline of the skirt; clasping a delicate gold pendant around the base of your throat for a kiss of charm that accentuates your décolletage with its subtle sparkle. Nude platform pumps streamline your look, elongating your legs and giving you lift; while a crystal-covered art-deco bracelet adds a mysterious touch likely to garner questions {perhaps from a handsome stranger}. Tousled waves pulled into a mid-height ponytail are kittenish and coy - the absolute perfect balance to the finishing touchbronze-leaning gold eyeshadow applied generously all over the lid and the lashline for an ultra-glamorous metallic smoky eye that works for day or night.

NOTD: Nicole by OPI Still Into Pink

Two coats of Nicole by OPI Still Into Pink. Hot Pink with Subtle Silver Shimmer.

Still Into Pink is one of those colors that you don’t realize you need until it’s on your nails, then you’re all…where have you been all my life?! Seriously. It is, essentially, the perfect Barbie pink shade, being a highly-pigmented hot pink that is vibrant and summery. Though not neon; this color dries completely matte {total surprise BTW}, but can be made super shiny with a swipe of top coat {as you see here}. The formula is incredible; and the signature Nicole by OPI Perfect Stroke Brush makes it so simple to achieve an even, professional-grade mani. If your lacquer collection is lacking a bright pink, you need this. Now.

the encyclopedia of eye enhancers

Blue. Brown. Gray. Green. Hazel. For every eye color, there is a mascara, shadow, or liner shade that intensifies the hue of your gorgeous gaze. The key is knowing what works best for you. And so, the encyclopedia of eye enhancers was born. Some of you may have read this as it was posted in weekly installments; for everyone else...let the lesson begin.

From left-to-right.

Megan Fox is living proof that blue eyes can seductively smolder when accented accordingly. The warmth of terracotta shadows draw out the iciness of the blue, creating a contrast that will virtually stop people in their tracks; while turquoise and navies accentuate the blue of the eye, making the color more piercing. Bronze liners and shadows are a cool way for blue-eyed bombshells to play with metallics; and if you’re seeking vibrant color, you can’t go wrong with a purple palette that serves as a means of enhancing your hue. Subtly highlight with liners or mascaras for daytime; or go all-out with a bright, bold eye when the night falls.

beauty board: brown eyes
From left-to-right.

Brown eyes have a bad rap. Far too many write them off as boring, blasé, and impossible to accentuate. Truth? All of the above is completely incorrect {as Leighton Meester proves with all of her red carpet beauty looks}. Out of all eye colors, brown possesses the most versatility, as it serves as the perfect canvas to a wide array of makeup hues. Gold-flecked olive shadows and eggplant / plum mascaras draw attention to all splashes of green in your eyes; electrifying cobalt shadows and office-appropriate {yet still ultra-flirty} navy blue liners and shadows create a strong contrast that magnify your eye color; and warm metallic shadow {think golds, coppers, and cinnamons} adds depth and a coquettish twinkle to your gaze. As I said…brown eyes are so not boring.

{beauty board} gray eyes
From left-to-right.

Gray is one of those in-between eye colors. Sometimes they lean green, while others they appear blue {as the impossibly beautiful Olivia Wilde illustrates perfectly}. The warmth of orange / apricot / tangerine or metallic copper shadows draws out the steeliness of gray eyes; dark chocolate liners and smoky mauve shadows add a mysterious touch to your gaze; and navy liners are perfect for highlighting any hints of blue in your eyes. Go subtle with your look by keeping in line with your natural hue with charcoal liners or pearl gray shadows; or play the sultry card with an eggplant liner and light purple shadow. Fifty Shades of Gray, and fifty ways to play. Have fun gray-eyed goddesses!

beauty board: green eyes
From left-to-right.

Perhaps, as someone with green eyes, I’m slightly bias in my adoration of the shade; but I find it utterly captivating to look at, and incredibly fun to play up. The red undertones in purple shadow palettes and purple liners make green eyes brighter, and more emerald-hued; while taupe shadows with a touch of glitter and sparkle draw out golden flecks, creating a yellow-like cat eye. For smoky eyes, skip the deep blacks and opt for smoky metallic silver shadow palettes and silver-flecked charcoal liners to make your eyes shimmer {a la Kristen Stewart}; and don’t shy away from green shadows - simply experiment with different colors and textures. Try a metallic, smoked sage shade {I favor bronze-leaning hues myself} that will complement and enhance your eyes, rather than conceal their glamorous color. Just beware your choices, you're likely to leave many green with envy.

365 Beauty Guide: Hazel Eyes

From left-to-right.

Hazel eyes are incredibly fun to play with as you have the option of bringing out the umber/topaz/golden hues with bronze shadows {as Nicole Richie often does with her drop dead gorgeous eyes}, or you can go in a completely different direction, drawing out the green undertones of your peepers with eggplant and moss green shades. Either way, the effect is jaw-dropping; and allows you to change up your look from day-to-night, or simply day-to-day.
