travel in...color!

Tomorrow is May 1, the temperatures in SoCal have
already begun to hover at 90* {and sometimes higher} on a daily basis,
and...I'm in possession of Koffer24 Coupons;
so, of course, I've been thinking of nothing but travel quite frequently. Or,
more specifically...luggage. Colorful luggage. Stylish
luggage. Luggage that won't take forever to spot in baggage claim.
And, thanks to my introduction to Rimowa via Koffer24.de,
I think I've found my dream selection.

travel

Orient Red, Inka Gold, Ultra Violet...the offered shades
are bold enough to stand out from the standard black suitcases; yet still
retain a subtlety to their shading that makes them ultra-apropos
for your lazy, leisurely vacays or your more sophisticated,
business trips
. My inner jetsetter is totally in
crush mode.

What's your preferred luggage style? Do you like bold shades or do you opt for simpler styles?

NOTD: Maybelline Green with Envy

Two coats of Maybelline Color Show Nail Color in Green with Envy. Pale Mint / Seafoam Green Creme.

Do you remember the Seafoam Green color that was in those 64-Pack boxes of Crayola crayons {it was my favorite shade}? Maybelline’s Green with Envy is basically that exact shade for your nails.

Greener than China Glaze's For Audrey, and thicker than Essie’s Mint Candy Apple {resulting in the need for less coats for coverage}; Green with Envy is one of those amazing drugstore finds that gives you luxury-brand lacquer quality at a fraction of the price {$2.99 a bottle - I can dig it}. Opacity and formula is fantastic on this shade. I had a wonky brush that was slightly uncooperative; but past experience with the Maybelline Color Show line proves that not all brushes suffer the same prob. Love it for winter, spring, summer, and fall. Must have!

{famous footwear style challenge} converse shoreline in my closet!

You may remember that last week I faux-styled the Converse Shoreline
in White
as part of the Famous Footwear Style Challenge.
Well... Famous Footwear was kind enough to send me a pair
to style with pieces from my very own closet.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the Converse Shoreline looks like the
typical Converse lo-top; but it is made specifically
for women, and features an elastic band at the back to make it a slip-on style {which
is basically the best. thing. ever.

Anyway, here are just two of the ways I've styled the Shoreline.
P.S. Apologies for my lack of makeup in these pictures. I've been dancing
a lot
lately, and my thighs are kind of blown at the moment, so...
getting dressed is about all I've been able to manage.

summer style...for your iphone {case-mate review}

When the seasons change, I don't just overhaul my personal wardrobe;
I overhaul the wardrobe of my tech accessories, as well {i.e. my
never-leave-a-room-without iPhone}. After all, if it's going to mesh
with my summertime style it needs a few sunshine-worthy looks of
its own - like the Jessica Swift ISVEA and Cockatiel Icon
cases I scored from Case-Mate.

I consistently have amazing experiences with Case-Mate
in general; but I love the new Jessica Swift designs for the season,
as they are hand-drawn {gotta love that unique vibe} and
bright {so they stand-out in a crowd, and look amazing
paired with neon nail colors - the beauty aspect is always something that
should be considered, yes?}.

Functionality {of course} is an essential detail {iPhone's do not
come cheap}; which is why the security aesthetic on both of these is one of my favorite
things. Unlike a lot of cases that simply slide on the back {1 piece}; these feature 2-piece
designs
which cover the back, then snap over the front for bonus
bumper protection
.

Perfect prints. Optimal protection. Seriously... what more
could you ask for?

Do you change your cell / Smartphone's style each season? Which of these cases is your fave?

ridin' the Converse wave {surfdome review}

Though I tend to fall more into the 5-inches and up category nowadays;
Converse sneaks were my primary form of kicks
back in the day. We're talking the All Star Hi version, of which I owned
a barrage of confectionery colors from green to pink - shades
sweet enough to make a candy store swoon.

Being that spring is upon us, and summer isn't far off; when
Surfdome offered me the chance to review one of
their pieces, I made a virtual beeline for the trainers section; which is how
I became the proud parent of a pair of Converse All Star Ox
Shoes in Optical White
.
This is my first time owning a lo-top pair of Converse, and I. am. smitten.
They have an incredibly understated, beachy vibe to them that pairs
perfectly with crop tops and cutoff denim shorts {two of my
summer staples}; but look just as charming coupled with printed rompers
or casual sundresses. I've taken to pairing them with
ballet attire on my way to-and-from dance class - when I'm seeking
complete comfort - precisely what these deliver.

Sneaks aside... Surfdome itself is kind of, well, epic in
a shop-for-your-entire-family-for-any-occasion type of way.
Men, women, boy, girl, infant...
snow, surf, wake, skate...
they carry brands {Roxy, G-Star Raw, Quiksilver}, and musts for
all of the above {and then some}. Truth be told...
I kind of desperately want to raid their Playsuit section
{they would look adorbs with my new Converse, after all -
talk about summertime cute!

Which Surfdome pieces would you love to score? Do tell...

NOTD: Revlon Flirt

Two coats of Revlon Flirt. Pink Creme with Lavender Undertones.

Flirt was literally on my polish wish list for more than one year before I finally picked it up. I only wish I had purchased it sooner because it. is. gorgeous.

This was my first brush {no pun intended} with Revlon nail polish, but it will definitely not be my last. The formula is so easy to work with - very creamy and smooth to apply; and opaque with minimal coats {I could have gotten away with one coat here, but I always apply two to be on the safe side}. Flirt is far more pink-toned than mark's Cupcake; but definitely in the same color family, so they would look gorgeous together for an ombre look.

NOTE: Flirt is very similar to Essie's Cascade Cool {we're talking dupe territory}, so if you have that shade in your collection, you can skip this one. If not...shop on.

{the must list} clarisonic

My daily skin care routine undergoes a complete makeover
more often than I'd like to admit. One week I'm obsessed with a product, the next
it's so yesterday, and I'm off looking for something new to fill its place.
The one constant, however, is the Clarisonic Mia for the sheer fact
that it. works. Soft, bright, smooth...
yes, yES, YES.

My skin is all of the above and then some since I started using
the Mia a few years back {there's a reason why the system is recommended
by just about every beauty editor}; which is why I've been coveting
the Mia2 since its release - a purchase I plan on making
very, very soon due to the debut of new summer perfect shades, and
my recent discovery of Clarisonic Coupons.

clarisonic

From Seabreeze, Key Lime, and Wild Waves
to Passion Fruit and Berry, the new collection of colors is enough to add a
tropical touch to your vanity; while delivering glam skin results
in preparation for vacation season. Now the only question is
which sassy shade to scoop up {I'm leaning towards the Key Lime}.

Are you a Clarisonic fan? Which color would you choose?

tell me about it...stud

As a child I wanted nothing more than to get my ears pierced so I could wear
oversize hoop earrings a la Kelly Kapowski of Saved By the Bell.

Flash forward to my eleventh birthday when I finally felt brave enough
to feel the wrath of the ear piercing gun, and things changed. It was at that very time
that I spotted Kristin Cavallari {during her Laguna Beach days}
wearing a pair of oversize diamond studs while on the beach with Stephen Colletti.

From then on, all I cared about was studs. Not diamond, mind you; but CZ.
After all, just as a Cheap Engagement Ring does not have to look cheap,
neither do cubic zirconia studs {or any studs for that matter}.

studs

Though my one true stud love will forever be the oversize look;
as I now have three piercings in each ear, my tastes have branched out a bit.

For the summer I love a cheeky motif representative of the season, like the
Enamelled Strawberry Studs; or an unusual, avant-garde aesthetic -
case in point, the Triangle CZ Studs {worn in my third piercing -
just below the cartilage}.

For evening affairs I opt for a mixed metal like the Knot Stud Earrings
{which effortlessly work with any other metal you may be wearing}; or
the always apropos Oversize White CZ Studs.

And for spring...it's all about pastels. Pinks and lilacs are. a. must.

Are you a stud lover? What's your preferred earring style? Tell me about it...

Raw edges, a hand-cut hemline, and the ability to wear

glamorous rebellion

Rag & Bone/JEAN The Vest in Tattered + Smashbox Love Me Be Legendary Lipstick in Love Me + Alice + Olivia Dina Neon Embossed Pumps in Coral + Chaser Outsiders Tank in Black + 10 Crosby by Derek Lam Cinched Ankle Pants in Black + Pamela Love Silver Cross Cuff + ILLAMASQUA Nail Varnish Scorch

The Ankle. It seems like a harmless enough location to show a sliver of skin; but all bets are off when that peek sits right below a pair of ebony cropped trousers adorned with pleated details at the hips and waist that slide ever so seductively into a tapered, elongating cuff.

Add a rebellious edge to the sophisticated style by topping it with a graphic, raw-edged tank {tuck it in for polish and to show off your waistline} and a deconstructed denim vest. A silver cuff adds an understated touch of sparkle about your wrist; while neon pumps contribute an air of femininity to the slightly androgynous legwear and draw even more attention to those ankles. Opt for a bold red lip {with shine!} to brighten your face; and finish it off with a glossy white nails to lighten up the look. It’s glamorous. It’s edgy. It’s perfect.

NOTD: JULEP Courteney

Two coats of JULEP Courteney. Key-Lime Green Crème.

As a mint polish junkie I have a tendency to re-buy the same color over and over {and over and over} again from different companies and collections {at last count I had 11 mint green shades - all practically identical}. So…I was incredibly excited to spot JULEP’s Courteney, which had a bit of the same vibe of a mint green in a more summer-y offering – key lime.

Like a mint green, Courteney has that pale-yet-bright quality that makes it equal parts subdued and standout; but the color itself is unlike anything I have seen before. Sometimes it looks avocado {think 1970s green}, others it appears more kiwi or key-lime toned. One thing is for sure…it is so, so perfect for summer manis and pedis. If you’re a fan of green nail colors this one is a must, as the formula is incredibly easy to work with, and the hue is something you definitely don’t have in your collection!

spring blog swap with Quinn of Mama Fashionista!

So…back in November 2012 Quinn of Mama Fashionista and I did an awesome blog swap
made up of makeup, books, accessories, and coffee. At the time,
we deemed the swap to be a massive success {not to mention incredibly fun},
so Quinn came up with the brilliant idea to do a swap for each season. And so, I bring you the
goodies I received from our spring swap. Stop by Mama Fashionista
to see what I picked out for Quinn!

Streekers Wild Weekend in Pink: This lets you do a bright but temporary streak job on
your hair. I'm thinking pink tips for the weekend!

BaubleBar Necklaces! The neon yellow is braided {and can actually be worn
as a bracelet when wrapped around twice}; and the black and gold spike is the
perfect amount of edginess for GNO.

Avon Mega Impact Eyeshadow in Poolside Pop: So amazing for creating
mermaid eyes. The two colors are incredibly complementary to one another;
and you can build the intensity to your liking.

Avon Glazewear Sparkle Lip Gloss in Rave: Love, love, love!
The color is subtle, but the sparkle effect makes it look like you have
tiny diamonds on your lips.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Nude Beige: If you have
sensitive skin, this is a must-own powder. It's lightweight, easily controls shine,
and is completely gentle.

Avon NAILWEAR PRO+ Nail Enamel in Decadence: The shimmer makes
this color incredibly luxe!

Sinful Colors Professional Nail Enamel in Sugar Rush and Sweet Nothing:
Sugar Rush is a pastel baby blue {one of my all-time favorite
nail colors}
, and Sweet Nothing is more teal / turquoise
leaning {think China Glaze Aquadelic}.

NCLA Call Me for the After Party: The name alone
screams Spring Break, yes?

BVLGARI Refreshing Towel: There are no. words.
to describe how incredible this smells. Trust.

Aussie Miraculously Smooth Shampoo + Aussie Miraculously Smooth Conditioner:
This. Stuff. Smells. So. Amazing.

Avon Advance Techniques Medium Hold Hair Spray: Rarely
do you come across a hair spray that doesn't make leave your hair feeling crunchy.
This, however, is it. Insta-love!

Terra Dolce Lavender Green Tea Artisan Soap: The scent is incredible;
but I cannot get over the adorable packaging. It has a rustic vibe
that is just perfect for gift-giving.

EOS Tangerine Medicated Lip Balm Sphere: The color,
flavor, scent is too perfect for spring!

Burt's Bees Ultimate Care Hand Cream: I've used this like seven
times a day since receiving it. Yes, I'm a bit OCD about
hand-washing and moisturizing.

Books! Single in Suburbia by Wendy Max + The Chocolate Money
by Ashley Prentice Norton
+ Faking It by Elisa
Lorello
: A little chick lit goes a long way.

Kim Kardashian True Reflection Eau de Parfume 3.4 oz.: Honestly,
this is one of the most glamorous-smelling fragrances I have
ever encountered. The plum and vanilla notes are such an elegant
addition to the woodsy / musky tones.

L'Occitane Immortelle Brightening Face Mist: This, to me, is the epitome of
luxury. It literally revitalizes my entire face.

Neutrogena Rainbath Refreshing Shower and Bath Gel: This is such a classic product;
but it's my first encounter with it. The fragrance is just beautiful; and
it leaves your skin feeling so soft.

Michael's Gourmet Coffee in Macadamia Nut White Chocolate + Pecan Turtle:
The latter tastes nutty with a hit of caramel; the former tastes exactly
how it sounds. It's like having dessert for breakfast. Yum!

Two coats of mark Cupcake from the Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquers Sorbet Shades duo. Sugar-Sweet Lavender.

Cupcake is the second shade that came in the mark Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquers Sorbet Shades duo {I swatched/reviewed the first - Creamsicle - last week}; and just as perfect for spring!

While Creamsicle was pure jelly, and sheer on first coat; Cupcake was more creme, and I actually reached full opacity with a single coat {I applied two to be on the safe side}. Though less unique than its partner {I'd peg Cupcake as a cross between Essie Cascade Cool and Revlon Flirt}, it is every bit as wearable for the spring / summer months. Bonus for moi: It matches one of my bikinis so you know that I'll be wearing it quite often.

7. That was the age at which my lip gloss obsession began.

It started with a tube of Bonne Bell Lip Smacker in Strawberry, before
moving into Wet 'n' Wild Glassy Gloss territory, and finally
settling into a jumble of slick lip gems from Maybelline, NYX,
CoverGirl, mark, and about a billion others {I could write a book;

Nevertheless, I am always game to try something new.
Enter...Lip Bliss' What's Your Virtue?

Kindness, Generosity, Wisdom, Simplicity, Devotion, and Curiosity.

Six virtues / shades to choose from - all offering brilliant glamorous shine

. Not to mention that it's gluten-free - a very novel factor
in the beauty world at the moment.

I received two shades from the collection - Wisdom {plum} and Curiosity {mulberry}.
Two virtues that fit my personality to. a. T.

The subtle tint of color makes these incredibly wearable day or night. The minty

provides a very fresh feeling with every application. But my favorite

? Gift-giving!

The packaging is adorable, and I love that the devotion offerings make it simple to

There is something so undeniably glamorous about the concept of being on safari {whether referring to your wardrobe or a nature-fueled vacay}. The bright, bold colors and prints; the blink-and-you’ll-miss-them khakis that pair understated with urbane; and, not to be forgotten…the leopard. In this case, tailored. leopard. print. shorts.

A slightly slouchy tank {think undone luxe} plays down the sexiness of the high hemline of the shorts; while simple leopard print pumps {remain in the same color family but don’t feel the need to be matchy-matchy} contribute the perfect kiss of class. Play the low-key card with a jumble of brightly-colored stretch bracelets wound around your wrist, offset with a vibrant orange polish on your tips; and get truly glamorous with layered necklaces {an intricate collar clasped at your throat, a long, colorful pendant dangling near your midsection}. An earthy statement ring completes the look, and adds a pretty sparkle to your fingers; the ideal companion to your high-gloss locks {curled at the ends for playful bounce, of course}.

{muse of the moment} chanel paris-byzance pre-fall 2011 hair / makeup

Cleopatra VII. If there is a single individual whom I adore even more than Marie Antoinette, it is she. My affection for the Queen of the Nile, however, has virtually nothing to do with her skill for seduction {though it is, unquestionably, an admirable quality}; rather, it falls upon her beauty, brains {I highly recommend reading Cleopatra Confesses for more on that}, and penchant for head-turning accoutrements.

Traces of her ultra-glamorous guidance can be {obviously} seen in my accessory drawer {snakes, anyone?}, and daily makeup routine {hello winged liner and come-hither cat-eyes}; so the Chanel Paris-Byzance Pre-Fall 2011 Hair and Makeup? Let's just say that I steal a glance at photographs of it no less than six times per day. Really though... can you blame me? Filigree headbands, bohemian behives, a double dose of heavy liner {placed in a position so wrong it's right}...the empress-esque inspiration is enough to make anyone swoon. I dare you to try not to.

trend alert: stackable eternity bands

eternity

Move over engagement rings and wedding bands!! There’s a new chief in town...the eternity band! Although eternity bands have been around for thousands of years, dating as far back as the Egyptians, today they’ve come back with a renewed vengeance. No longer are the days of just owning one old-fashioned eternity ring. Because an eternity band can commemorate a wide variety of occasions, such as weddings, anniversaries, children’s birth, or any other milestone, their popularity has increased. As more people are turning to eternity bands these days, there is a wider variety of looks and styles, like stackable gemstones, all diamond ones, or plain gold or platinum bands. With stackable rings trending now, you get to wear your eternity rings like a badge of honor.

The coupled benefit of stackable eternity rings is that they are both trendy and meaningful. Unlike a wedding band, you don’t have to stop at one, and who wants to? An eternity ring gives couples the freedom to choose more than one ring for the most meaningful occasions in their lives. This is a way for the couple to capture and share a special memory in an everlasting way.

Diamond eternity rings make the perfect gift for an anniversary or birth of a child. In both cases it is a sentimental way of showing gratitude to your wife for the life you have shared so far and/or for the precious family addition. These rings are also extremely complimentary to an already dazzling diamond engagement ring, and with the promise of eternity behind it, it will not be overshadowed by your engagement ring. Diamond eternity rings are offered in single row, double row, and even triple row designs, as well as fancier options set with brilliant round or princess cut diamonds. No matter which design you choose, the results will be sure to please!

For a little fun and flare try gemstone stackable eternity bands. The beauty of these rings are in the medley of different colors you choose. With stunning options such as sapphire, emerald, pink sapphire, or even ruby and diamond, to name a few, you can mix and match as you please. Whether based on your loved ones birthstone or a favorite color, it will leave a lasting impression on her heart.

As you may all well know, eternity rings have long come to symbolize never-ending love, life, and trust. What more can we hope for?

NOTD: mark Creamsicle

Two coats of mark Creamsicle from the Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquers Sorbet Shades duo. Bright Peach / Coral Jelly.

I’m a sucker for pastel polishes, so when I saw this Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquers Sorbet Shades duo from mark, I basically had to have it immediately {P.S. the cute names for the polish colors – Creamsicle and Cupcake - only played a teeny tiny role in convincing me to do so}. Anyway…

...I rarely come across jelly polishes, so this was an unexpected first {and hopefully not last} for me. The formula was incredible. Initially, it seemed very sheer, and made me think that I would need multiple coats, but after the second was applied…opacity achieved. This is a color that will definitely make an appearance on my toes this summer – it is just so pedi perfect. Bonus: so. many. compliments. Every single time someone saw my hands while I was wearing this polish, they commented on the color. The jelly formula truly puts it in a class of its own.

What nail color are you rocking for #ManicureMonday?
