chloe + isabel for the holidays {and always}

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Doran of chloe + isabel to review a
trio of surprise baubles, and, being the accessory lover that I am {I hold them to the same
standard as shoes - they either make or break the outfit}, I immediately said yes.
Ordinarily, I am incredibly verbose; but in the case of the swoon-worthy prettiness
that is the pieces I received, I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Tri-Tone Open Circle Bangle Set {$42.00}
I featured these in this post earlier this week.

Organic Pavé Link Toggle Bracelet {$48.00}
I featured this piece in this post last week.

Sculpted Circle Pendant Necklace {$28.00}

Gorgeous, yes?

The first thing I should note is that each of these pieces comes packaged not in a box, but in an adorably rustic drawstring pouch with a bright yellow chloe + isabel bird logo felted cutout attached. It's absolutely charming and immediately conjures visions of snowy days and log cabins. Once you open the pouch, however, you are introduced to a glamorous yet understated accessory like the beauties pictured above. Packaging like that deserves discussion, as it makes the presentation of the piece that much more thrilling {and guarantees that it will be a hit for the holidays}. Onto the pieces...

Two words can perfectly sum up all of these pieces {as well as much of the chloe + isabel collection}: dainty and feminine. They manage to lay on the luxury in a very low-key fashion, making them wearable for any occasion. The Tri-Tone Open Circle Bangle Set wound up being my favorite due to the fact that I have a hard time settling on a metal color that I love; the rose gold, silver, and yellow gold bangles allowed a bit of all three worlds - and can easily be worn on their own.

Though the Set was my favorite, I can't fail to mention how unique the hammered aesthetic of the Organic Pavé Link Toggle Bracelet was {it's the perfect arm party piece}; as was the 3D effect of the hand-pressed disc making up the Sculpted Circle Pendant Necklace.

Each of these pieces was brilliant in its very own way, and will make a splash with my party attire {or anytime denim}. Head over heels.

NOTD: Essie Shearling Darling

Two coats of Essie in Shearling Darling. Raisin / Brown-Based Burgundy.

Say hello to my new favorite fall / winter nail color!

Shearling Darling looks like your typical wine / burgundy-hued nail color released by {insert polish company name here} every. single. fall / winter. It’s not. This color…OMG I’m in love. The raisin / brown-based burgundy {think the brown lipstick Brenda Walsh wore on the original Beverly Hills 90210} really sets this shade apart and makes it essential to your collection.

Formula was phenom. It's a little bit jelly, a little bit crème, and all sorts of fabulous. Two coats gives you perfect opacity.

{what to wear} the airport edition

“Anyone can look for fashion in a boutique or history in a museum. The creative explorer looks for history in a hardware store and fashion in an airport.”
Robert Wieder

I always plan ahead. There has never been a single time when I have found myself left without a bottle of shampoo, devoid of deodorant, or missing my coveted mascara. I’m not that kind of girl. I’m a worrier by nature. I can’t say that it’s a wonderful trait, but it is one that courses through every vein in my body at the speed of light twenty-four/seven, and there’s truly nothing I can do about it; aside from embrace it, of course.

It’s not so bad, I suppose. I am always the one with an extra tube of lip gloss when an unexpected kiss is on the horizon; and I simply can’t forget the way everyone looks to me when they need a tissue or dab of hand-sanitizer. I guess you could call it an honor to be someone who always plans ahead. You could also refer to planning ahead as a lifesaver – especially when you’re traveling.

Despite the fact that the holidays are right around the corner {as is my birthday} I have no plans {thus far} on boarding a flight to some exotic locale to soak up my sultry and stylish surroundings. The truth of the matter is that, as of now, I have one plan and one plan only…to loll around locally.

You, on the other hand, may have something much more exciting up your sleeve – something that requires a trip via plane; and, as such, I refuse to allow you to board anything until you are properly prepared. You will not step foot in that airport, or on that plane until you are well-versed in the musts and must-nots of what you should be draped in, carrying, and dragging about with you. After all, you’re leaving on a jet plane, and must do so in effortless style.

AGREEABLE ATTIRE

tops
From left to right: BB Dakota Dakota Collective Jackie Flannel Shirt + 291 Off Shoulder Sweater + Madewell V-Neck Slub Pocket Tee

{the top} I love them just as much, if not more, than the next girl; but let’s be honest here, there’s no need to wear a fitted top that will cling to your every curve if you’re destined to be sitting for countless hours at a time. For these particular moments, do the right thing and wear something loose and flowy about your upper half that will make you feel feminine, dainty, and anything but self-conscious about your imagined love handles or various other nonexistent imperfections. Three styles I strongly recommend for a comfortable plane ride are:

{v-necks} I virtually swear by cotton V-necks - like Madewell's V-Neck Slub Pocket Tee. They’re lightweight, inexpensive, and available in a multitude of colors. If you want a more fitted look, buy your regular size; if you want a slouchier style buy larger – either way looks amazing.

{off the shoulder tees} The thought of wearing an off the shoulder tee on a flight can be daunting considering the fact that airplanes are often chilly, but please don’t allow that thought to frighten you away. I wear them all the time {I'm currently obsessed with 291's Off Shoulder Sweater}, and recommend them to everyone. When worn you expel this very rumpled, effortless glamour; and if your shoulder should get cold you have the option of sliding the sleeve up to cover the exposed skin.

{boyfriend tees} Be thankful for the fact that nothing says seductive like a girl dressed in a plaid button-down that is slightly boxy and brawny, and looks like something she snuck from her boyfriend’s dresser. I favor pieces in pastel shades {though right now I'm loving BB Dakota Dakota Collective's Jackie Flannel Shirt}. While the cut is masculine, the colors – purple, salmon, pale yellow – are extremely dainty and feminine, which add a definite girly bounce to your step!

{the legs} Listen to me when I say this...you do not have to wear sweatpants to stay comfortable while seated; and please don’t. The key to comfort is wearing something that is stretchy yet sassy. I am a jeans girl all the way; my closet is full of them. But, seeing as how denim may not necessarily be the most comfortable legwear for a long flight, I suggest perusing the next best thing...jeggings or leggings.

If you’re not comfortable with the leggings-as-pants look, jeggings are your new BFF. Typically they look identical to a pair of dark-wash skinnies {right down to the seam detailing}, with the exception that they are, to be sure, leggings {True Religion's Casey Denim Leggings are my faves}. If you can’t find a pair you like that’s within your budget, don’t stress! Simply toss a long top over a pair of standard leggings {Mossimo Supply Co.'s Full Length Leggings are fab - and only $8.00 a pair} so you retain comfort while still maintaining a polished look that you feel confident in.

boots
From left to right: Sole Society Carolyn Riding Boot in Black Burgundy + Sole Society Franzie Tall Boot + Sole Society Andie Over the Knee Riding Boot

{the shoes} Heels are great for the three E’s: elevation, elegance, and elongation. That said; they are horribly disagreeable for flights. You do not lounge around your house in sky-high stilettos, so don’t do so on travel days, when you know you’ll be dragging luggage through terminals and taxis before you reach your journey’s end. It is essential to keep your tootsies in a state of beatific bliss from the moment you get on the plane, until you descend from it; therefore, I enlist the assistance of boots to keep my feet satisfied while soaring. Not all boots, however, make the cut; you must find one that is comfortable while remaining cute.

I recommend tall, flat boots in neutral colors with a wide shaft that easily pull on and off. When flying I avoid boots with zippers, ties, buckles, and all similar matter {unless they are merely decorous - then I'm all for them} – this often interferes with the ease of removing your shoes, should your feet get hot. Most versatile in my book are equestrian styles and pieces crafted of suede – they move with your form without discomfort and always add an air of sophistication to your look. Three of my current faves are Sole Society's Carolyn Riding Boot {two tone!}, Franzie Tall Boot {fierce details!}, and Andie Over the Knee Riding Boot {OTK + equestrian!}.

{the cover-up} There are two sides to every story; the same goes for cover-ups. In my eyes, you have a duo of choices here – either go for charming and cuddly with a cardigan, or brisk and blasé with a blazer. I myself prefer the former. To me, there’s nothing better than the feel of a cardigan wrapped around my body – it provides a snuggly, secure warmth that acts as a blanket while keeping my style celestial, ethereal, and effortless {swooning over this Free People Winter's Day Patterned Cardigan}. If you’re looking to top your ensemble with something slightly more posh, you cannot go wrong with a blazer {I love this military-inspired High Ranking Style Jacket from mark}. Cropped, boyfriend, double-breasted, pleated, open front…any and all styles keep you fresh, refined, and looking like a million bucks.

{the neck} Aside from jewelry, scarves are the next best accessory. They have the ability to add a fresh pop of life to your ensemble when slung haphazardly about your shoulders or wrapped cozily about your throat; thus, do not allow your neck to be seen without one at the airport. If you’re simply looking for a piece that will add a little glamour and color to your look, not one that will necessarily keep you warm, stay away from the knits and opt for pieces constructed out of gauze {Love Quotes' Knotted Tassel Scarf is the perfect choice}. It’s a breathable material that won’t provide discomfort during a flight; but will definitely add a little dimension to your style.

totes
From left to right: Victoria's Secret Medium East / West Tote + Victoria's Secret Large East / West Tote

LARGE AND IN CHARGE

When it comes to your carry-on, there is one rule and one rule only that you need to adhere to – bigger is better. You don’t want to have to hang onto a handbag, a carry-on, and a suitcase {which I hope against all hope you don’t check at the baggage claim}; thus, look for a bag that is sturdy, smart, and, above all else, big enough to hold the entire contents of your handbag, in addition to your other in-flight must-haves. The perfect carry-on should not only be the ideal size {about 15”H x 14”L}, but should also harbor pockets for all of your miscellaneous items, and proper closure to keep your prized possessions safe, without losing a single trace of its fashion-forward finesse! My picks? The Medium East / West Tote and Large East / West Tote {both from Victoria's Secret}.

“I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.”
Oscar Wilde

EXCESS BAGGAGE

One thing we must keep in mind, is the fact that once the plane takes off, we will have no more chances to compile the bits and pieces that will amuse us until our seemingly endless flight is over; therefore, one of the most important things about travel is loading your carry-on with everything that you could possibly need {within reason, of course} so that it is at your fingertips at a moment’s notice.

{ballerinas} Despite the fact that your feet are strapped into a pair of swanky boots that are pleasantly comfy, it’s hard to resist the lure of wanting to slip them off and stretch your cramped toes after a few hours of being stuffed into such a style. The best idea is to stick a pair of ballerina flats or slippers into your carry-on; doing so, however, is destined to take up tons of space, which you really can’t afford to lose. My solution? CitySlips Quilted Cap-Toe Travel Flats. I worship these ballerina flats, as they literally fold up to the size of a pack of Kleenex, and are as comfortable as actual slippers.

books
From left to right: Anita Loos Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and But Gentlemen Marry Brunettes: The Illuminating Diary of a Professional Lady + Babe Walker White Girl Problems + Tamara Mellon In My Shoes

{the literature} I adore perusing the pages of ELLE or Vogue while traveling as much as the next fashion savvy girl; but there’s something about long flights that make me eager to live vicariously through a fun and flippant character, if only to pass the time more quickly. Short story collections and novellas are at the top of my list for the sheer fact that they are riotously funny, slim in size {so they won’t weigh your bag down}, and easy to get lost in.

{the eyes} Do rock your sunglasses when taking the terminal by storm; once on board, however, you may still long to cover up your peepers. The truth is, you could go the celebrity route, and wear your sunnies for the entirety of the flight, or you could use a sleep mask. I prefer the latter; especially when I’m trying to relax and dream about my travel plans. Besides, every girl deserves to have a Holly Golightly, Breakfast at Tiffany’s moment at some point in her life. Why not now?

{if looks could kill} You could be on the planet Mars and I would still be advising you of this…do not allow the plane to leave the ground unless you have your cosmetics in your carry-on; after all, you never know when a handsome stranger will take up residence right next to you, and you want to look your best! As expected, you should have all the usual suspects at arms length – lip gloss, concealer, mascara, eyeliner, a comb, and a compact mirror. Seeing as how a flight is synonymous with an overnighter at a friend’s house, it is crucial to have tissues, hand-sanitizer, lotion, un petit bottle of perfume, and, one of my BFF’s, oil-blotting papers. They remove shine without removing your makeup and make your skin look undoubtedly dewy and sparkling!

“There’s no one-size-fits-all for luggage because it all depends on the trip. Just like there are differences in travel experiences, there should be differences in your gear.”
Rick Schlesinger

NOTD: mark Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquer Duo {Snowberry & Tinseltown}

It's time for another nail duo, and today I'm bringing you my favorite of them all, which features Snowberry {strawberry-leaning berry shade with silver microshimmer throughout} and Tinseltown {metallic silver}. Like the Gleam Scene + Tuxedo and Rosetta + Blue Bella duos I've previously swatched; these shades come packaged together in the Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquer set from mark. With the deets out of the way, let's get to the pictures!

Two coats of mark Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquer in Snowberry.

Snowberry is the quintessential holiday nail color. The shade is very Christmas party apropos, mixing a bright strawberry red with silver microshimmer to create a killer combination. Snowberry reminds me a bit of mark's Rosetta, in that it has a little bit of a jelly feel to it, giving it more dimension.

Overall, the formula was good. I found that it kept trying to pool around my cuticles on coat one; but behaved better on coat two.

Two coats of mark Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquer in Tinseltown.

Hands down my favorite of the two shades included here. Shocking coming from someone who isn't a fan of semi-frosts, yes?

Tinseltown is so much more than your standard silver. It dips into platinum territory due to the subtle silver shimmer throughout which really makes it sparkle in sunlight {sparkle...something no one can resist}. Like with mark's Gleam Scene, Tinseltown applies with no visible brushstrokes; and features a truly fantastic formula. Two coats gave me full opacity, and a smooth and shiny finish.

5 beauty products I would buy again {part 5}

Read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4 of this series.

part 5

{1} Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection {$36.00} You already know how much I love my Too Faced Natural At Night Palette; but as of late I've been turning time and time again to the Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection. Of the 9 shades included, 3 are matte, 2 are shimmery/glittery, and 4 are satins. The pigmentation is amazing, and all are incredibly buildable, so you can create subtle or high-drama eye looks. This is so perfect if you love a sultry, smoldering eye.

{2} NYX 2-in-1 Pencil Sharpener {$4.49} People laugh when I say this, but...it is hard to find a good pencil sharpener for makeup products; this, in my opinion, is the best. You can use it on jumbo or standard size pencils for lips or eyes; plus, it keeps the shavings contained, so you don't wind up with a mess on the floor. Truth: I have already purchased a back-up just in case; though I have been using mine for more than 8 months and it is still going strong.

{3} Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Juicy Peach {$7.99} Initially I purchased this for the crayon shape {which I love}, but it has become one of my go-tos for 3 incredibly important reasons: 1} it truly moisturizes and never leaves your lips feeling dry; 2} it has a yummy, inoffensive scent; and 3} the color {at least in the Juicy Peach shade} is sheer, with a hint of gloss that is noticeable without being overwhelming. There are a lot of chubby / crayon stick products on the market; but Neutrogena's MoistureSmooth Color Stick is the one I recommend the most - it is just perfect {and a chic alternative to ChapStick}.

{4} Formula X for Sephora Base Coat {$10.50} The quality of the Formula X for Sephora line has been an amazing surprise for me. A few months back I raved about their Top Coat, and now I'm doing the same for their Base Coat. I have tried so many base coats over the years, but this has become my favorite. This one is sticky to the touch, so it is adhesive for polish colors, resulting in 0 chips {though tipwear due to natural nail growth is visible after a few days}. NOTE: As mentioned, this dries sticky, so if you don't top it with a nail color {even a clear one}, it will pick up everything from dust to cat hairs.

{5} mark Angled Kabuki Face Brush {$12.00} I have a drawer full of makeup brushes; yet the angled shape of this one has made it my favorite for applying blush and/or loose powder. I find that the shape creates a more natural-looking finish and provides better coverage than standard-shaped brushes. Also pertinent... this particular brush comes packaged in a satiny, chocolate-colored drawstring pouch that is perfect for storage or holiday gifting.

haute hair for the holidays

The holidays are all about giving and goodwill to men; but it is also a season for reinvention. Experimenting with new makeup looks {bring on the glitter and sparkle!}; trying new fashions on for size and celebration; and one of the most popular items... switching up our hairstyles. It's the holidays, we're hobnobbing with people {including those of the cute boy persuasion whom we may not have seen since last year}, and we want to look and feel fab. Thus, experiment with a fake fringe, or go all-out and change your look with a short or long wig!

hairstyles

My 3 personal faves from Pauls Hair & Beauty World include the Sensationnel Kiera 100% Human Hair Mid-Length Curly Wig {it's choppy, it's curly, it's perfectly playful}; the Sleek Synthetic Naomi Long Wavy Wig {it's very Victoria's Secret Angel - in other words...sexy, sassy, and fierce!}; and the Vanessa 100% Human Hair Clip In Fringe {basically the cutest way to add dimension and sweetness to your mop without actually losing length}.

Which of these looks is your favorite?

{fashion folio} plaid meets punk

Sole Society Harley Stud Detail Bootie in Black + mark Check Out My Pad Tech Case + Mossimo Supply Co. Long Sleeve Plaid Shirt in Red + Xhilaration A-Line Skirt in Black + Sole Society Crystal Stacked Ring Set in Multi + Joomi Lim Lost Innocence Choker in Hematite / Silver / Cream Pearl

Plaid has many faces - it can play the part of prep; perfectly highlights the grunge movement; and, my personal favorite, takes on a little punk-meets-rock 'n' roll vibe when coupled with spikes, studs, and buckles {oh my!}.

A red plaid country/western button-down pairs perfectly {or should I say punkily?} with a black palette. An A-Line Mini and Crystal Stacked Rings add a touch of girly glitz-and-glam to the look; while ankle boots decked out in buckles and studs {also loving these in the Brown Sugar and Army shades} contributes edge. Stay fierce with a choker that blends pearls and spikes for a high-fashion good girl gone bad motif; and round it all off with an oversized clutch embellished with a mix of metallic studs {bonus: it doubles as an iPad / Tablet case}.

to the right to the right...

See the look on the right? Totally. Obsessed. The mix of black and white is so undeniably classic; and while there's a bit of skin flashing about, it's done so in a way that remains completely sophisticated {a point enhanced by the addition of an elegant ballerina bun}.

I spot a CHANEL Quilted Boy Bag and the GIVENCHY Shark Lock Fold-Over Boot - two items that I have coveted for ages, but are most certainly not in my current price-range. Thus, I'm recreating this look in a slightly more affordable fashion.

NOTD: CoverGirl The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Capitol Collection in Rogue Red

Two coats of CoverGirl The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Capitol Collection in Rogue Red. Fiery Orange-Meets-Red with Metallic Golden Flecks Throughout.

Though I purchased about 5 colors from this collection, Rogue Red was the first I tried out because it seemed so perfect for autumn {tell me it doesn't remind you of changing fall foliage}.

The micro-shimmer in this polish is awesome. It has an iridescent touch that adds so much personality and liveliness to the color whenever you move your hands - almost like flickering flames {fully appropriate given the film/book namesake, right?}. I found the formula here to be perfect - opaque in 2 coats, no brushstrokes to speak of, and it dried quickly {always a plus when you're in a rush}.

NOTE: The colors from this collection are incredibly difficult to find. I haven't seen them anywhere since spotting Rogue Red {and a few other shades from the collection} haphazardly scattered at my local Wal-Mart. If you're a huge fan of the books/movies, however, you kind of need them in your life. That said...may the odds be ever in your favor.

a swimsuit for all seasons

Swimsuits take a vacation for no season. Come winter, spring, summer, or fall, your closet is completely and utterly barren if it isn’t home to a great range of Zoggs swimwear that will see you through impromptu winter holidays in the tropics or late-night rooftop hot tub parties in late fall. Yes, the temperatures may have dropped; but your swimwear is still raring to go. Not satisfied with your current swimsuit selections? Here’s a great excuse to go shopping - shop flattering womens swimwear online.
swimwear

I’ve narrowed my loves down to 3 pretty pieces. The Kiama X-Back Swimsuit {the criss-cross detailing in cherry pink piping is ultra figure-flattering – slimming the waist, and highlighting the bust}; the Queens Cliff Bikini {the side-tie bottoms have an adorable, boy short-like effect that keeps your bottom half looking ridiculously cute and svelte}; and the Cabarita Highneck Swimsuit {the highneck has that mock turtleneck vibe seen all over the runways making it a high-fashion choice}.

Which piece is your favorite?

boy zone

Boys tend to be creatures of habit when it comes to dressing. They have their polos,
plaids, button-downs, cool kicks, denim, and a splash of leather
{items all readily available at online shop Cockney Rebels}, and they're golden.
With such ease of attire, shopping for them should be simple...it's not;
but it can be. Here are a few boy-approved looks to add to your shopping list.
boys

Lyle & Scott polos are classic style staples. Grab your guy one with an Ivy League twist, like the Lyle & Scott Tartan Detail Long Sleeve Jersey Polo Shirt in Navy, which features full-arm patches and a matching fastening collar. For days when it's a little nippy out, layer it over the Lyle & Scott LW016V22 Check Shirt for a debonair touch {P.S. this is the perfect piece to swipe from your guy's closet on lazy Sunday's. Top it over a cute bra and boyshort lingerie set for optimal sassiness}.

G-Star is full of guy {and girlfriend}-approved pieces. My top three faves? The G Star Ranch Denim Jacket which is timeless {and another piece that will likely wind up in your closet from time to time}; and the G Star Correct Nova Long Sleeve Shirt in Blue and G Star Raw Radar Long Sleeve Shirt - both of which will see him through holiday parties and special occasions in style.

Last, but not least...the shoes. Personal preference, I think it's adorbs when boys pair sneakers with dressy or casual looks {dress shoes are just boring to me}; thus...Adidas. Ink, Royal, Black / White...regardless of which color / color combo you choose the look manages to be both low-key and high-fashion.

Which boy-approved looks do you love?

the GELeration way...

“Red means passion, white is innocence, black is power and purple offers mystery.
More than just an accessory, nail polish has the power to speak volumes.
While today your nails say ‘back off’, tomorrow it could be ‘embrace me’…”

The above quote is indicative of one very important thing…Jessica Cosmetics knows nails. So who better to give you the long lasting geleration nails experience than the company in question - via Gerrard International {find your nearest gel nails salon online}.

jessica

GELeration is, essentially, gel in a bottle. It applies like your standard polish, but has the lasting effects of a gel mani – giving you glorious, non-chipping, long-lasting color for 21+ days. Though you can purchase Jessica Cosmetics Professional GELeration Soak-Off Gel Polish in stores; the most fabulous way to indulge, is by turning your mani / pedi into a complete GELeration spa day. Use the link above to locate your nearest gel salon; then select from 10 luxurious treatments – including the 60 minute ZenSpa Pedicure with GELeration.

Have you experienced a gel mani/pedi before? Thoughts?

{beauty board} the smoky eye

smoky eyes
One of the most iconic beauty looks; one that has spanned complete eras {hello, it was a Brigitte Bardot trademark}, is something that I will never tire of: the smoky eye. It's seasonless {appearing on red carpets and runways year-round}; it's adaptable {I personally wear it day or night using a different color palette to fit the occasion}; and it embodies what I like to refer to as the triple s: sexy, smoldering, smart. It's also simple to create {not daunting or difficult as they'd like you to believe}; provided you have the right tools. Here, 5 of my favorite products for creating a sassy and simple smoky eye:

smoky palettes
ONE: Too Faced SMOKEY EYE {$36.00} TWO: Maybelline in BLACK SMOKE {$6.99} THREE: mark SMOKEY {$16.00} FOUR: Rimmel London in BLACK CAB {$5.99} FIVE: NYX Smokey Eye {$7.00}

Too Faced palettes are fab because they always include a trio of how-to cards that provide you with step-by-step instruction for creating glam looks for any occasion. Their Smokey Eye Shadow Collection is no different. Choose your desired look - Classic, Day, or Fashion; follow the steps, and your golden {or should I say smoky}. Love the look, but not the fuss? Maybelline's Eye Studio Master Smoky Shadow Pencil in Black Smoke is your must. Draw a thick line on your eyelid {near the lashline, of course} with the pencil side, then flip it over and use the smudger to blend. Want a different-colored smoky eye? The Eye Studio Master Smoky Shadow Pencil is also available in Emerald Fury, Blue Blaze, Smoldering Violet, Scorching Brown, and Smoking Charcoal.

If metallic finishes and a lot of color options are your thing look no further than mark's On the Dot Smokey Eye Color Compact. At $16.00 it's insanely affordable; and the pigmentation is incredible {this is one of my personal faves!}. Kristen Stewart got me hooked on the metallic silver / charcoal smoky eye, and Rimmel London's Glam Eyes HD Eye Shadow Palette in Black Cab is the quad I use to create it. The back of the packaging includes a tutorial on where to place each of the 4 shades {which range from a silver shimmer to a charcoal black}, so you don't feel lost when applying; plus the color payoff is fantastic. Highly recommended if you want a super affordable option.

NYX's The Smokey Eyeshadow Palette is an awesome choice if you: a} want a palette that can be used for smoky eye or natural eye looks; or b} don't want to spend a lot of money. The formula of the shadows in this palette is very buildable, and the six colors included are sleek and sultry. If you feel overwhelmed by the concept of smoky eyes, I definitely recommend this palette as it allows room for experimentation from subtle to smoky at a great pricepoint.

be noble...

"It has always been my dream to create a jewellery collection for men. And it must - of course - be jewellery that does not look like anything else on the market. The jewellery must have an edge and attitude - be exclusive and unique."
Nicklas Bendtner - 2010.

noble 2
While I have never been the biggest advocate of menswear on the ladies; I am a huge proponent of certain borrowed from the boys looks {i.e. plaid button-downs, oversized cardigans, slouchy sweaters...}. Androgynous pieces that effuse understated sexiness {and are ridiculously comfortable to boot}. Enter...NOBLE By Bendtner.

"To my surprise, lots of women have shown a huge interest in our Collections in the past years. As a result I decided to dedicate selected bracelets and necklaces from our Wildlife and Classic Collections to women only. And with this expansion together with our latest new designs I took the opportunity to change our company name to NOBLE by Bendtner."
Nicklas Bendtner, 2013.

The pet project of Nicklas Bendtner {a Danish soccer player}; NOBLE By Bendtner is a gorgeous collection of bloke or babe-adored baubles that juxtapose the inconspicuous with the showstopping. Standard leather is replaced by stingray-embossed materials that are both edgy and exotic; while sterling silver embellishments and charms favor both the masculine or the fairer sex.

A few of my favorite pieces from the collection are pictured above. Which ones are you loving?

NOTD: OPI x Taylor's Gift Foundation Taylor Blue

Two coats of OPI's Limited Edition Taylor Blue. Turquoise / Teal Jelly-Leaning-Crème.

Last week I told you about the Taylor's Gift Foundation; and today, as promised, I have swatches of the gorgeous color that brings beauty and an amazing cause {organ donation} together.

Taylor Blue is truly one of the most gorgeous takes on teal / turquoise I have ever encountered. It has a dustiness to it, yet still manages to be rich and vibrant. Formula-wise, this one is fantastic. The first coat was sheer, but the second coat built to the perfect opacity to create lush luster.

I was surprised with this shade in that it is a jelly / crème hybrid - featuring traits and qualities of both formula types, making it incredibly unique and a real head-turner.

NOTE: Taylor Blue is a Limited Edition shade with all proceeds going to those touched by organ donation {families, candidates, recipients...}. It will be available here from November 21, 2013 through December 23, 2013 for $10.00 per bottle. Learn more about the Taylor's Gift Foundation here.
