This Seat Is Taken

I’m not one of those girls. You know them quite well. The ones who swiftly snag a seat at Balthazar, or on the subway, then promptly plop their purse down on the ground where it sits in the line of fire, at risk of being stomped on by a pair of stylish, sky-high stilettos; kicked; or even stolen by a fashion savvy thief. No, I treat my handbags with the same respect as human beings. Which is why, when asked “Is someone sitting here?” I reply with a curt, “This seat is taken.” By my purse, of course.

    So true about life in the City!! Love this Le Dix you pictured...

    Right now I am toting a pink Luella satchel from a few years back that just says "spring" to me! Plus it's huge so it can reserve anyone a seat!!

    At this very moment it's a plastic bag from La Mirel Mode :). I think it's okay, because it's all about the inside! My lovely new cardigan.

    I definitely would never put my handbag on the floor, to be stomped on by others! I usually put it on my lap, where it stays clean :)

    Currently in rotation:
    - Juicy Couture black handbag which is just the right size for uni documents and books
    - No-name pink purse with diamante studs
    - Gold LV
    - Coach satin pink clutch

    I am *such* a bag lady...!

    At the moment I'd like to have a new Miu Miu bag, then a Jamin Puech, then the 2.55 Chanel ... and more more more...Bags and shoes are like cherries... you eat one you want more!!!

    I'm not a bag fanatic. Up until two years ago, I never carried a purse, the a fossil wallet in my back pocket. But, I've since switched to cheapy tote bags since I've run out of pockets for all my junk.

    Right now, I'm just carrying around a cotton tote bag promoting recycling. It's got a bicycle on it and words like "Go Green" and "recycle".

    I don't give it its own seat but I do refrain from putting it on the floor. At home, even if its full of stuff for the day its in its dust bag place on my ottoman until I leave. And I definitely don't fling it places. Or put over the side of a chair (I don't want the leather strap to stretch!!). I do think of it as my friend though and definitely treat it with respect.
    If its a ten dollar bag thats different. But my marc by marc is practically royalty.
