Tightwad Tuesday: Rebecca Taylor Strapless Silk Floral Print Dress for Less

My loves, to the left you will find Rebecca Taylor’s ravishing Strapless Silk Floral Print Dress (LIKE), the likes of which has been seen gracing Taylor Swift’s towering frame over the past few months; to the right you will find the Floral Corset Dress from ThreadSence (TRY).

(WHY?) Though it lacks the flouncy skirt and silk construction of the tempting Rebecca Taylor offering; at just $38.00, in comparison to the $495.00 price tag dangling from its couture counterpart, it is every bit as blissful – and allows for the buyer to splurge on a new pair of strappy sandals to don with it!

Tell me, kittens…will you be a big spender and go for Rebecca Taylor, or be thrifty and spring for ThreadSence?

Fashionably yours!

Thanks to Net-A-Porter and ThreadSence for the pictures.

  4. Since it's a summer holiday week, I'll go "couture." I like the way the fabric hangs on the Taylor dress.

  5. I love the Rebecca Taylor style but I won't spend that much on a dress. I love that you were able to find an alternate with almost the same pattern. Happy Tuesday Erika! xoxo

  6. These are nearly identical! Nice job. Sigh, I love the Rebecca Taylor one...ever since I saw on Taylor Swift!

  7. I love that Rebecca Taylor one but not the price tag! Oh, and I think this is just such a cute dress idea. I love the colors and the little flowers. Topped with a cardigan this would be an ultimate date outfit.

  8. i nearly always love the cheaper one!

  9. Oh la la. How beautiful! Love them both.

And you're so right about Taylor Swift's towering frame -- I had no idea she was such a long, lean swan until just recently.

  10. As much as I like a good bargain, the Thread Scene dress doesn't have the "pizzaz" of the Rebecca Taylor number. So if money is not an issue, I'd definitely go with the splurge! Plus, who could resis a "flouncy" skirt ;o) ??

  11. I love the Rebecca Taylor one, but the thread sence one is just as cute! Ilove this ability of yours to be able to find such cute things for so much less! :)

  12. This makes me want a floucy floral dress for the summer, but I could never afford the Rebecca Taylor one. Luckily there's always a thrify option! Both are cute.

  13. oh goodness..I think I'd go for the cheaper one..naturally. Both are so lovely. Of course, I'd still have the fear of coming out of it..somehow..scary swimsuit stories come to mind though..at the pool.

  14. I will take the thrifty option, please. A lovely way to get my "baby floral" on...cheap :)

    Happy Tuesday my dear :)

  18. Man! I love that Rebecca Taylor one!! Ugh I need to be an oil tycoon (except not the kind who spills the oil in the ocean of course)

Whatayasay, Erika? Wanna be a socially responsibly oil tycoon with me?? Say yes! haha

  19. Nice find, but I like the Thread Sence one better! Haha, of course.

  21. I much prefer the ThreadSence version! It's such a good copy and I like the fit a lot. Perfect for these hazy summer days we're having! :)

  22. Hmm. I like flouncy...but I guess I like saving $450 even more. I'm going with the Thread Sence.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nearly $500... Ouch! But I think the Rebecca Taylor dress is so gorgeous that I might save up for it. (or maybe I'd wait for the sales hoping it's still around)
    Great finds, both, Erika!

  32. I'm going to have to splurge on this one! I love RT pieces!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I actually like the Thread Sence one better...how awesome is that!!

PS I totally finally found the romper I've been dreaming of today in my favorite French store Promod. Its got the 50s curve rather than the 70s slouchiness and is vertically pinstriped, very nautical with, get this, a girly pleat on the strapless top. I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  34. They're both very pretty. Although, I do love the style of Rebecca Taylor's so much more, so I'm definitely picking that one.

    ReplyDelete
  35. HOLY! that is a huge difference! Thanks for finding that! It's a fun frock indeed.

  36. The Rebecca Taylor one is gorgeous and I find the silk material much more appealing, but I don't think the price tag is worth it, especially not in a floral style. Thread Sence is a perfect alternative!

    ReplyDelete
  37. This is a toughie, because I kind of like the volume of the skirt on the RT dress...

    ReplyDelete
  38. i love bargains!!! and florals! x

    ReplyDelete
  39. Rebecca Taylor always makes such lovely prints so my vote goes to that dress!

P.S I've been eating strawberries like crazy ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm gonna be a big spender on this one, I can't resist the flounce! :)

    xoxo

  41. Big spender. Rebecca Taylor in silk? Gotta get it. x

  42. Lovely lovey lovely - I can't resist pretty pink dresses, can I have them both?? That would be ideal :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Pretty! I'd be thrifty, just because I know I'd have to alter this by either making the, um, boobs smaller or adding straps. The RT just wouldn't be the same with straps!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I just want strawberry ice cream after seeing these. Wow, both are so cool.

    ReplyDelete
  45. i love all of rebecca taylor's designs, i actually splurged on one of her dresses; so i'm a supporter of her designs for sure! love all the feminine looks

    ReplyDelete
  46. ooo, I think on this one I would go the tightwad route as I kind of like the threa sense one more! they are both so cute but the other isn't work 500 I would say.

    ReplyDelete
  47. the rebecca taylor dress is beautiful! gorgeous fabric and fit. the other dress is cute thou. i wonder how they can get away with such blatent design copies sometimes!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I love them both!
I would have to get both (in my dreams)

  49. I agree dear friend. We have been on the same wave-length as of late. I'd like to believe our great minds think alike :) Taylor Swift's style has indeed come of age.

Love the dresses in this week's Tuesday edition. So summery. and of course, hot!

    ReplyDelete
  50. i like the fit of the rebecca taylor but the print of the threadsence....
    oh if only...

  51. I would go for the Rebecca Taylor one, I love how the skirt flares out :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I reckon I'd spring for the Rebecca Taylor (assuming I had the money of course) - it's just that tiny bit more special. Very tough options though. They look so similar. I love it when that happens, haha. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  55. This time I say Net-a-Porter as I like the flirty hemline. Pretty for summer - I should wear more floral... hmm...

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'd take the Thread Sence. Lovely florals!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I prefer the Rebecca Taylor's one ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh my such a tough choice!! On first glances I liked the Threadsence better, but the shape of the Rebecca Taylor is growing on me! Hmm better go with tightwad!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Both are very cute, flirty, and summery! Strapless is very tough for me . . . but I like them almost equally. Nice find Erika! <3

    ReplyDelete
  60. I've been in love with that Rebecca Taylor dress for a while now. But I just might have to snag that Thread Sence dress. It's affordable, cute, and perfect for spring! :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. thrifty. For printed dress or any dress with full motives, I'd rather buy something not so expensive. They're easily spotted. Unless it's a classy black dress or any solid colored dress with classic design, then I would splurge :D

    ReplyDelete
  62. You have such a fabulous blog here! I love the concepts you have and the comparisons you do :) So much fun girlfriend! XO

    ReplyDelete
  63. My goodness, this dress is like... the garment version of ME!

(Yet the cheaper one is so much cuter - does that say much about me? I hope not! Perhaps it means I am a good deal :D)

Good to visit again! I've been really busy!

    ReplyDelete
  64. omg taylor swift was wearing the same dress! im in love with this dress! the lightness..the floral the colour...i <3 it!
