Tightwad Tuesday: Halston Heritage Stretch Jersey One Shoulder Mini Caftan on the Cheap

Dolls, to your left feast your eyes upon Halston Heritage’s haute Stretch Jersey One Shoulder Mini Caftan – the very same one that graced the form of Sarah Jessica Parker (aka Carrie Bradshaw) in Sex and the City 2 as she navigated the gorgeous foreign lands of Abu Dhabi (LIKE); to your right take a gander at eDressMe’s One Shoulder Peach Cocktail Dress (TRY).

(WHY?) Though constructed out of 100% polyester, as opposed to the 100% silk that makes up the Halston Heritage beauty; for $115.00, in comparison to the $325.00 price tag of the smoldering Halston number, it is every bit as perfect for helping a glamorous gal like yourself channel her inner Carrie Bradshaw – and at a price far more savory to the budget fashionista’s savings account!

Which role have you decided to undertake on this terrific Tuesday, kittens? Tightwad or spendthrift?

Fashionably yours!

Thanks to Singer22 and eDressMe for the pictures.

  1. I'm going for the spendy one today. Love the color!

  2. they look SO MUCH alike...give me the cheaper version.

  3. Now, I think the spendy version has better photography because the color looks richer, but I have a feeling they are the same in real life. I love a good Caftan. So relaxing yet chic.

  4. They look very much alike, so I'll opt for tightwad today. A nice summer look ...

  5. Oh that's the Carrie Bradshaw one!! I'd probably go all out & buy the real one because of the movie. I'm a sucker for movie stuff!!

  6. It's gorgeous! That was one of my faves from the movie...how is it possible that I want both right now haha

  7. LOVE this glamorous pink number. i also think halston's version is *just a little* more fabulous....and am trying to talk myself out of adding it to my dress collection.

  9. It might just be the angle in which the pictures were taken but I prefer the way the halston heritage falls!

  10. The draping of the Halston Heritage one looks so perfect- I would dare not substitute it with the cheaper one, though that one is gorgeous as well. Sadly, neither of these is possible though. haha

  11. Wow, this is easily the best Tightwad Tuesday on your blog. Fab! :)

  12. I don't think I could pull that frock off, without looking goofy.

Say, I did have a question though... I'll be about 4 mo pregnant when I head out to a fun romance writers convention. Its professional, yet sassy individual style is encouraged. Oh, and its in Orlando Fl, in August. (Swollen feet here I come)
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to dress for comfort, with the baby bump, yet not look like a shclubby whale.

  13. I think for this one I would save up for the Halson. The drape is much better and the upgrade from polyester is silk is probably worth it.

  14. One hundred percent would go for the steal! Nice find!

  15. Another perfect find! There are identical, I would go for the cheaper (again lol) for sure. Erika, this dress is like a blank slate for styling! I am already thinking of all the shoes and belts I would wear with it :)

  16. i would take the splurge one! i love that the halston heritage one is more drapy and comes with a more elegant look! i think the other one might be a little too jersey for me! but great pick! i love this dress!

  18. ERIKA!!! Why must you always tempt me with pink?? :)

  19. My pick is the Halston Heritage for sure. I have nothing against polyester, but something tells me that the glamourous effect would be taken down a few notches when compared to the silk piece.

  20. Ooh I loved this in Sex and the City; it is such a lovely dress. I bet it feels WONDERFUL to wear. I could see myself wearing it by myself. In my apartment. While eating ice cream. And watching lifetime. Haha. OR out doing something fabulous! =)

  21. Ohhh, I loved this look in SATC2!! I would get a dress like that in a heartbeat, with the turban.

  22. This was my fav look of Carrie's in the movie! Did you see it yet? Though I was a tad disappointed and thought the first one was better, the fashion was top-notch.

Fabulous find with the one from eDressMe!

  23. I think all I saw was her head-dress in the movie..and I overlooked the dress. I'm always for the thrifty. We do evolve and well, have mishaps with what we wear. I'm so clumsy..so why bother with the real expensive.

  24. I adore this look- I think I'd def get the eDressMe one. It's so chic!! :)

  25. I've been obsessing over this dress for a while and how great that you found a budget version! I love it!

  26. I have to choose the tightwad version, but a bit leary about the polyester in the summertime, it can be so hot! Looks perfect though. This is a great series you do.
Hope your week is off to a great start,

  51. OT:
when I was away for Memorial Day weekend, I saw a woman whose style reminded me so much of yours: her hairstyle, shades, smile, and yes, she even had on cowgirl boots you would have loved. Now if only I get to meet the "real you" in person! :)

Love the dresses. The tightwads rule of course :)
