Tightwad Tuesday: J. Crew Oxford Ballet Flats for Less

Darlings, in the left corner you will find J. Crew’s jazzy Oxford Ballet Flats; in the right feast your eyes upon Kimchi Blue’s tantalizing Two-Tone Wingtip Skimmer.

Though the Kimchi Blue beauties are crafted out of polyurethane, and sport a synthetic sole, as opposed to the J. Crew’s which feature a leather construction and rubber sole; for just $34.00, in comparison to the $138.00 price tag of the higher priced Oxford, they are every bit as capable of adding a splash of retro style to the budget babe’s shoe collection – at a price that leaves over enough spare change to scoop up both saucy shades (Black and Tan)!

Are you having a tightwad moment darlings, or are you plagued with a craving to splurge?

Fashionably yours!

Thanks to J. Crew and Urban Outfitters for the pictures.

  1. I really like the Urban Outfitters skimmers. The style is alright, but I love flats because I hardly wear them. Hope you have a good Tuesday, E.

  7. OMG these are to die for.

I totally worked at J Crew during college, and the discount was so amazing that I have a hard time shopping there now. It's like, OH THOSE SHOES ARE 125?! I used to get them for $40. Haha.

Nice find. Might have to snag them.

  11. No, No Splurge, If I was buying them would go with Urban Outfitters, they are identical... I have tried Oxford flats before (have been trying since MJ the 1st time I saw MJ with them) and not for me, I look very funny with them.

  21. I pretty much wore a high heeled version of this yesterday! I had gotten them on sale at Charlotte Russe years ago and never had anything to wear them with and just decided "what the heck?!" and I got so many compliments on them :)

The flat version is cute too!

  30. Triple yes! I love oxfords but I hate how clunky they are. I love that these are sleek and streamlined.

  31. Well, well, well. Look at you, reading my mind! ;)

I have been looking for a new pair of flats for MONTHS now and you have sold me on these Urban Outfitter ones. Thank you. xoxo

  32. I think the J Crew ones look a little nicer, but I would go with the UO ones and save some money. They are both really really cute!

  33. What a smart pair. A change from my single colour flats

    ReplyDelete
  34. They're so alike I have to go with the cheaper one!

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Urban Outfitter pair definitely! $138 is pretty steep for flats if you ask me :o/

    ReplyDelete
  36. My gut reaction is the Urban Outfitter ones, they look a bit softer than the J Crew ones BUT after looking them both over they are close enough in looks and the J Crew are definitely priced better so I would go with the J Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would soooo rock those flats in a red pleated skirt and black tights! I am definitely in the mood to splurge...like always.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow, those are so similar, I have a feeling the J.Crew pair would last longer. Shoes are an investment I do not skimp on.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Haha! I saw these a while ago online after lusting after the J.Crew ones and posted about it last week. I love both, but if push came to shove, pretty sure the UO ones would win ;) such an adorable pair of flats (both hehe)

  41. I actually have the Urban Outfitters ones; but they weren't very high quality and started to fall apart after a few months of wear. So I guess I'd pick the J. Crew ones if I had to try it again!

    ReplyDelete
  42. these are so cute!! i've been loving the oxford style, but lace-up flats just aren't very flattering on me. these are the perfect compromise!

    ReplyDelete
  43. i love j crew and definitely will save some money for anything they have to sell... haha!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. they make me think of easter. So cool to find that cheaper price.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am a serious sucker for Oxfords! I already own a few pairs but I may need these J. Crew's also ;)

    ReplyDelete
  46. these are so adorable but I wouldn't wear them, just not my style! But if I did, I would go cheap, 34 is an amazing price for cute shoes!

  50. I prefer the J. Crew's, love the look and would definitely go for leather over polyurethane, these feet have to last me a lifetime!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Adorable shoes! Although I do tend to splurge on shoes because the more expensive ones tend to be better quality and last longer :)

  54. Oh my goodness, I love and need these flats! I would definitely make do with the Kimichi Blue ones. They would look terrific with skinnies or a grand assortment of dresses on a casual day! ♥

    ReplyDelete
  55. i like both--but i might go with UO on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Shoes have got to be leather for me, so J. Crew's get my vote. Also, I like the toe shape much more.

  57. I like the UO price point, but when it comes to shoes, I have to treat my feet well and go for quality, so I suppose it's Jcrew for me.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Good one. Very beautiful and looking great. They will more comfortable for casual wear.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Wow, both pairs of flats look exactly the same, but I agree with spending more when it comes to buying shoes. It's often hard for me to find a pair of shoes that don't bother my feet and that I feel comfortable in, so I would definitely purchase the leather J.Crew flats. The higher the price usually means the better the quality of the shoe! Also, I love these flats, they are so cute and you could wear with jeans, leggings, jegggings, and just about anything.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Love this post {as always}! If the UO ones fit I'm going to scoop them up! So cute!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend Erika!
