august crush list!

1. hunter boots I've been a puppy parent for a little over a month now; and during that period, I have spent a considerable amount of time traipsing through dirt, mud, and other messy terrain. Long story short: It's time to get a pair of...Hunter boots! My practical side is crushing on the 'Tour' Packable Rain Boot in Black Matte; my playful side is coveting the 'Original Tall' Gloss Rain Boot in Pillar Box Red Gloss. Given my aptitude for indecision, I'll probably wind up with both. Natch!

2. quintessential plaid Every year, without fail, I am sucked into the plaid button-down craze that involves purchasing multiple pieces in a variety of colors right before fall begins and, essentially, living in them for the entire autumn season. Currently, my faves are Forever 21's Snap-Button Flannel Shirt in Blue / Mustard {this would look so amaze with black leather pants - or liquid leggings - and heels}, and Forever 21's Button-Down Woven Plaid Shirt in Red / Navy {which I want to wear right now with cutoff denim shorts, and the aforementioned Hunter Boots}.

3. ripped denim Not to be confused with distressed denim {another thing I love}; I've recently fallen for ripped denim. The element of grunge a well-placed rip adds to basic jeans is just perfect; but it's the juxtaposition between edgy and feminine {when coupled with an ultra-girly top} is the ultimate selling point. I recently bought Forever 21's Ripped Skinny Jeans in Black and Ivory - now I'm craving the Blush Light Denim shades.

4. equestrian-inspired jewelry I've never been one to pass-up an accessory embellished with a horseshoe charm or design; thus, I'm loving the equestrian-inspired pieces BaubleBar has been serving up - my favorites being the Metallic Equestrian Bangle in Gold, Equestrian Links Stretch Bracelet in Gold, and Leather Equestrian Wrap Bracelet in Brown. The horse-bit motif is incredibly preppy and posh - ideal for adding a touch of luxe to your most laid-back of looks!

5. toasted cheeks Bronzer has become my new blush must. I love the natural, toasted look it adds to the cheeks {it's very Rosie Huntington-Whiteley}, and how little product you actually need to create the ultimate look. I've been using NYX's Powder Blush in Terra Cotta almost every day lately - this one is actually a blush; but it's very bronzer-like on the face if you have fair skin. My latest love is Tarte's Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess Matte, which gives you a healthy glow without any shimmer. Next up, I'm hoping to try Forever 21's Classic Bronzer Compact in Tan which I have heard amazing things about - plus, the price is right!
