“Give me books, fruit, French wine and fine weather and a little music out of doors, played by someone I do not know. I admire lolling on a lawn by a water-lilied pond to eat white currants and see goldfish: and go to the fair in the evening if I'm good. There is not hope for that – one is sure to get into some mess before evening.”
John Keats

What if…you were invited to a picnic in the park at this very moment?
I imagine I would slip into Parker’s
Cami Romper; spread a luxurious blanket out on the dew-drenched grass; set Belle & Sebastian’s
Piazza, New York Catcher to repeat on my iPod so as to serve as the day’s theme song; plop down on my stomach, and loll the afternoon away – my LOFT
Cross Strap Wedge-clad feet waving carelessly to and fro in the air, my nose buried deep within the pages of Yvonne Prinz’s
Vinyl Princess. Reading breaks, of course, would be taken; but only to bite into juicy pieces of ruby red watermelon!
How would your perfect picnic in the park play out, my loves? What would you wear? What would you listen to? What would you read? Do tell dolls!
Fashionably yours!
Thanks to

Some Kate Bush, wine and no ants! (I'm very allergic to ants!) Oh, and in a lovely forest where the sky peaks through the trees!
ReplyDeleteOh...Keats is so wise! I would have a wine, cheese, and french bread picnic, with She & Him playing in the background.
ReplyDeletegive me any picnics that involve tea, sunshine and sandwiches and i'm sold!
ReplyDeletexxx
Doesn't food taste so good when eaten outside? My perfect park picnic would need to have lots of trails, too, in sunshine and through shady trees, for leisurely walking on when I took a break from reading.
ReplyDeleteI love going on picnics! I'd be sitting on a blanket at the beach in Malibu with my husband, reading my current book The Time Traveler's Wife, eating a Godmother sandwich from Bay Cities Deli. Sounds fabulous!
ReplyDeleteah decisions.. I would have to be wearing a floaty dress of some sort, that's a given.. belle & sebastian would be a must, along with some mumford and sons, laura marling, noah and the whale, summer camp, johnny flynn, maybe a bit of mystery jets to inject a bit more energy!! But that's just how I'm feeling today, I'm sure it would differ completely depending on my mood :)
ReplyDeletethe romper is a very very good choice! i love the colours & how i wish i could just find time to kick back a pair of wedges and chill!

I can imagine your outfit... I would love to wear a flowy white dress, a hat and a strappy sandals. It feels so romantic. Happy Sunday Erika! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI can't say what I'd wear, nor what music I'd listen to. Although, probably whatever songs are on my boyfriend's Zune, so something like Tom Waits or maybe some Ray Charles. I can tell you what I'd eat though-- summer sausage and cheese cubes and a PB&J. My boyfriend isn't a savvy cook, but I don't mind!
ReplyDeleteI would probably be wearing a floral romper of some sort, reading a enticing book,(no bugs), and the sun setting! Ahh! So many options, haha!
ReplyDeletei'm actually visiting nyc in july with my best friend and we have been planning to picnic in central park for 4th of july with some crackers, cheese and a bottle of red wine, of course wearing stars and stripes :)

Bikinis & Passports
Oh I imagine my favorite (and only!) Catherine Malandrino dress with scalloped neckline and hem, a basket with baguettes, parmesan, prosciutto, chicken salad with tarragon, tomato salad, watermelon, strawberries, and some lovely prosecco. Wow, am I lusting after picnic food or what?
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a lovely weekend darling!

ReplyDeletewoah it would be a great day!
ReplyDeleteto me.. emm maybe wearing a floral dress and nice hat enjoying some sushi cupcakes and juice will do cause it is me and his favourite food
xoxo
I'd probably plop myself down in my silvery grey spring dress, turn on some 60's music, and enjoy a light lunch of spinakopeta, strawberries, bagel with cream cheese and lox, and bellinis or sangria galore.
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect weather for a picnic and I think I might be blaring Belle & Sebastian, too! Perfect picnicking music! xox
ReplyDeleteI would love to go on a picnic today! Sounds nice!
ReplyDeleteI would wear my favorite, oh-so-soft, red jersey dress and let my feet go bare. :) I would listen to Disc 2 of the Marie Antoinette soundtrack on repeat because it is filled with gorgeous classical music and my favorite songs by Dustin O'Halloran. I would prefer some lighthearted reading---magazines like House Beautiful, BHG, and Fresh Home.
ReplyDeleteMy bf would come along in his comfiest, worn-out blue jeans and t-shirt. (I'd coax him into going barefoot, too.) And he would read the newspaper.
We'd eat raspberries because they're my absolute favorite.
Thank you for this lovely post and invitation to daydream!
a picnic sounds sooo good;)
ReplyDeletei would wear my blue polka dot skirt with a simple white tank top and some cute little sandals, read my glamour magazine and relax by eating some fruit. it would be darling!
ReplyDeleteOh how I adore picnics! It's a shame that there never seems to be enough time to organise one. :( I'd take my girlfriends with their boyfriends, card games, would sip on home-made sangria and yumm on chocolate brownies while listening to Jazzanova! :)XXX

Today is perfect picnic-ing weather, but of course I'm at work and so is the hubby. It's a rarity I even go into the office on Sundays, but who doesn't want to make extra cash?! A picnic is in order in the near future.. I'd pack yummy sammies, berries, mangos, pineapples, and some homemade lemonade.. ooo and popsicles, if they survive. :)

ReplyDeletepicnics are so much fun, aren't they?
snacking on delicious little morsels, sitting peacefully enjoying the pleasant atmosphere with whomever you're with atop a cozy worn blanket, listening to some oldies, or even Robert Francis. Too perfect! <3 Of course, taking some shots with a classic film camera to savor the moment.

I adore picnics - sitting amongst daffodils with cheese and wine, maybe my iPod and a pair of earphones to share. Sun in the sky, birds in the trees and my lovely boy by my side - what could be more perfect? :)

ReplyDeleteSome really fun stuff in the post. I guess I'm going to have to clean out my closet and see if I have anything anywhere close to spring or summer fashion. Its hard to make a transition with the cold winter we've had, but its warming up.
ReplyDeleteI was just talking about a picnic with the BF yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI think I would wear my favorite blue sundress, some cute but comfy flats, eat peanut butter and jelly with some sangria (cause I am odd like that) and have a bowl of strawberries to much on after attempting to fly a kite. I would play weezer "island in the sun in the backround" :) great post Erika!
Hmmmm I would love a picnic, I always have such good memories from days sitting in the sun, shades on, eating strawberries and lots of chips and dip with good company of course.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...it would definitely be by a lake. We would need a deck of cards, a couple of beers, watermelon, and privacy lol.

ReplyDeleteCheese, bread, sparkling water, and a hot guy next to me. The only sound is the stream near by and the wind rustling through the trees.
ReplyDeleteOo i love this new series! A picnic in the park, for me, would not be complete without boxed wine, peppered brie or humbolt fog, a mini baguette and a checkered blanket, of course :)

What a lovely thought... blanket, cashmere cardi, fresh strawberries and champagne, music... I would do it just like Keats, I think.
ReplyDeleteHmmm first have to decide whether my 5 y.o. was with us or not. if so, he'd be very quiet and still so my hubby and I could actually TALK about things...anything except schedules and school, etc. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your lovely comment, it made me day! Of course you know how much I enjoy your writing, as if I haven't said it enough already. Though there is ALWAYS room for compliments as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteTo a picnic, I would probably wear denim shorts and a very light and floaty blue shirt with ballet flats. As for the music, well I think I'd pretty much enjoy anything that played if I were in that blissful a situation.
