Be Amazing, Be Fabulous...BeKnown Giveaway

“It is only at the first encounter that a face makes its full impression on us.”
Arthur Schopenhauer

First impressions are a large part of life – both in romance, and in the work force, with young professionals seeking to get their foot in the door. The amazing Monster.com has taken notice of this; and, in an effort to help boost hiring for recent grads, created the professional networking app BeKnown – which features a Facebook App; Mobile Apps, iPhone App; and Android App.

“BeKnown uses a person’s Facebook profile to tap into the networks of the friends they’ve already established. No need to start from scratch as BeKnown uses those connections to help you find new connections at various companies you would like a connection at. It also lets you conduct a job search of Monster's database of jobs without ever leaving BeKnown or Facebook. By tapping into the networks of their Facebook friends, young professionals can easily connect, send messages, and see who among their existing contacts is connected to a company or job opportunity they are interested in.”

Now for the fun part, lovers! Café Fashionista has teamed up with BeKnown to bring one (1) fabulous fashionista the BeKnown Interview Survival Kit which includes a $10 Starbucks Gift Card, Professional Business Card Holder, and a Limited Edition Beauty Kit by Benefit (loaded with essential interview grooming tools – lint brush; makeup such as lipstick, blush, and a mirror; a comb and brush; breath mints, and more).

This Giveaway is open to U.S. Residents!

As an added bonus to this Giveaway, below you will find some interview styling tips from yours truly to help you look the part once you snag the interview of a lifetime!

Cream of the Crop By all means, do not bare your belly in a work environment unless your given title is belly-dancer; the crop top I am referring to is a smart, Jackie O-influenced jacket that hovers between a boucle and blazer in its aesthetic, making it a piece that you will be able to incorporate into your style even after-hours.

You want to ensure that you are investing in a topper that will stand the test of time; therefore I recommend buying black. A navy piece can easily work well in your wardrobe; but it possesses limitations in that it clashes with a black bottom, and will prove to be difficult to work into different ensembles. Something in a midnight shade with bell sleeves that flutter around the elbows; or a tinge of menswear styling a la a tuxedo jacket is ideal. On their own pieces like this harbor uniqueness; but with a little creativity, and a lot of accessories, you can truly give them a personality that reflects you and only you!

Black Is the New Black You can drop yourself forty years in the future, or flashback sixty years to the past, it doesn’t matter what era you currently find yourself in, black will forever be the new black. Day or night, old or young, it is a classic shade that is both smart and sassy, and will take you from the boardroom to cocktail hour with complete ease, sophistication, and timeless elegance; hence the reason why much of your agency-inspired attire should consist of pieces in noir hues.

That is not to say that you should overhaul all the color in your closet; but ebony colored accoutrements are more acceptable in the working world. They contribute a preemptive neutral palette for bold accessories; while providing a slimming effect that highlights your best features. As an added bonus, no wrong can be done when the color black is in use, so you can spend all that time you would have been devoting to worrying your pretty little head over the power of a pink versus blue frock, and direct it towards completing newly acquired assignments ahead of time to impress your boss!

This giveaway is unique. I like it.
I agree you do need to research the company before you go in to interview. But my no.1 interview tip is Know all about you and what you want to do and how you want to get there.( Besides knowing you need a job that pays well.) What are your goals set for yourself. Know your strengths and weakness and how you want to improve and how you can help the company with your strengths. Co.'s are driven on goals. The time now is to shine

  14. I have quite a few interview tips but the one I think is key for us glamour girls is this: Do not wear strong perfume, if you have to wear perfume at all. The interviewer should be paying attention to your resume, not the Tommy Girl or Primo that one is wearing.
