As someone whose first name (Erika) is continuously spelled incorrectly by everyone from friends to foes, you would find it strange to know that I have a mild obsession with jewelry spelling out one’s name for the world to see – quite a bit like the nametag worn by a store employee. Late last year I invested in a nameplate pendant necklace featuring the name Erika splayed out in charming gold script that made me feel like Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City (and which I have literally worn to death in the past few months); but that accessory has been entirely replaced in the course of two weeks, since being gifted with an India Hicks Sterling Silver ‘E’ Love Letter Pendant Necklace.
Unlike many of the initial pendant necklaces seen in shops which merely dangle the wearer’s initial from the end of a chain, and add a birthstone or similar adornment to give it an extra splash of oomph; India Hicks gets architectural with her creations, taking a single initial, and using it four times over to create a one-of-a-kind geometric style that is every bit as artistic and avant-garde as a cleverly-crafted piece hanging in a museum.
While each letter is arranged in a different type of design; the ‘E’ Pendant I received shows four E’s that create a block formation – a design that reminds me of a hieroglyph (the Greek way of saying ‘sacred carving’), which I absolutely adore. But what I personally love so much about this particular collection of jewelry, is that, while the wearer knows what the symbol represents (one’s initial), the outside world doesn’t have this knowledge, making it seem all the more special. And, let’s be honest…who doesn’t want that?
Tell me, darlings…do you love the India Hicks Love Letter Collection?
Fashionably yours!
Thanks to India Hicks and Bloomingdale’s for the pictures.

ReplyDeleteThese necklaces are amazing. My name is misspelled a lot, surprisingly, and I completely stopped trying with the spelling and pronunciation of my last name, so these necklaces would help out a great deal.

ReplyDeleteIt's so funny about your name- the only other Erika blogger that I know spells her name just like yours. I always wondered if people spelled it wrong. Must be so frustrating!

I don't blame you for loving the E necklace, it's so abstract and cool. I wonder what the M looks like? Wish these came in gold, that would be my only hesitation.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend Erika!
