♥Duck, Duck...whichgoose! Don’t tell me that you can’t remember I Love the Butterfly Girl, my proclamation of passion towards the divine Cocoon Combs found on Etsy. I know firsthand that it is not easy to forget the romantic, whimsical creations of Miss whichgoose; for her hairpieces have been flitting through my mind for the past two weeks, and finally I can proudly call one my own, as her pink Heart You Floral Hair Comb is on it’s way to me as we speak courtesy of Eyeliah at Style Symmetry. Yes, I will admit that the lovely little hair adornment hasn’t even arrived, and already I’m adding new whichgoose creations to my wish list. Next I’ll take the Princess Buttercup – Daisy Fascinator, Cocoon – Butterfly Hair Comb, and Audrey, s’il vous plait. Perhaps a playful game is in order. Duck, duck...whichgoose!

♥Shop It To Me I’m going to let you in on a little secret...though, perhaps, I shouldn’t be revealing this bit of information to you. Why? Well, if you’re a slave to fashion, much like myself, you may find yourself sucked into the divine world of fashion sales, deals, and steals known as Shop It To Me. Since joining just last week, I signed up for all of my favorite brands – Christian Louboutin, DVF, Elizabeth and James...and now, whenever there’s a sale on an item, I get an e-mail notifying me about it, and tempting me to charge everything my heart desires. It’s like a virtual personal shopper who knows exactly what I’m looking for. Don’t you want to Shop It To Me, too?

♥RR The temperature has risen to unbearable heights as of late, and all I can think about doing is holing up somewhere cozy and indulging in a bit of RR. Don’t get me wrong, of course, I’m not looking for rest and relaxation in the confines of my bedroom, where I can laze about in pajamas, sip fruity drinks, and catch up on Gossip Girl. Non! I simply want a little one on one time with Every Day with Rachael Ray. A magazine which brings the domestic goddess out in me, and makes me want to tie an apron around my waist and spend all of my time in the kitchen. This Chilled Raspberry Cream Pie is pretty and absolutely perfect for an unbearably hot day. This Summer Vegetable Pasta is colorful and the current object of my foodie affections. And these Mini Fruit Tart Buffet’s are simply too adorable to resist. Of course, once I’m finished in the kitchen, I’ll take a trip to some exotic locale vicariously through Rachael herself; because you see, loves, RR has a little something for everyone!

♥LnA Candy It’s here! It’s here! It’s finally here! The LnA Off the Shoulder Long Sleeve Flashdance Top in Midnight Blue that I pre-ordered from Singer22 a few weeks ago arrived two days ago, and it’s even more perfect than I could have imagined! Effortlessly chic, casual, and comfy – just what I was looking for! It’s so amazing, in fact, that I now want to pick it up in orchid and white; and, you know, since we’re on the subject on LnA, I’m kind of crushing on this LnA One Shoulder Dress in Crimson which would look so divine paired with black booties or motorcycle boots adorned with silver chains; then there are these Lace Zipper Leggings in Black which have an element of girly glam mixed with tough grunge; and I certainly wouldn’t mind having a pair of these Skinny Pants in Black or any other LnA offering hanging out in my closet. LnA...it’s like candy for a fashion maven’s soul.

♥Hunting for Fashion I’ve wanted to be Nancy Drew since I was old enough to read. To wear cute day dresses, drive around in a boxcar, and solve mysteries on a daily basis. So leave it to Rachel Nasvik to practically hand me the opportunity to do just that on a silver platter via her Bag Hunt, and – surprise, surprise – I’m not in New York City to join in the fun. To slip on a chic trench coat, put on my thinking cap, and search for a Rachel Nasvik original Alice Bond of my very own. I followed the Twitter updates, contemplated what gritty locations the punchy colored purses would be abandoned, and daydreamed about the girly essentials each bag would contain – lipgloss, bobby pins, designer keychains. But, alas, I could only participate in my dreams. Rachel, I want to hunt for fashion...please, please, please bring this event to the West Coast!

♥La Lacy Lily What’s better than jewelry and lace? Why jewelry adorned with lace, to be sure! Lily Gardner is the new object of my affection for she fuses two of my favorite things together in practically all of her creations: jewelry and lace. The Mirror/Lace Leaf Ring makes my heart skip a beat. The Shaped Lace Cuff is simply irresistible. And the Lace Tablet Necklace with Bow? J’adore! Who wouldn’t love la lacy Lily?

I Love Rock and...Soul?

Over the past six months I have become what I like to term an “Ed Head,” finding myself completely smitten with the Vintage Tattoo Wear designed by none other than Christian Audigier. I’ve eyed his Knitted Crop Hoodie, begged for his “Love Eternal” Foiled Platinum Terry Shorts in Black, and fawned over his koi fish-adorned Drawstring Lounge Pants just last week. The thing that I have coveted the longest, however, are a pair of his Snow Blazer Boots. Tiger, Beautiful Ghost, or Love Kills Slowly...I would gladly take any design home. Since I have never had the funds to shell out $200 on one pair of shoes without feeling the repercussions of my guilty conscience for all of eternity, I simply decided to give up. But now, the perfect pair has plopped right into my lap.

These Bamboo by Journee Rock/Soul Microfiber Boots in gray from the bullseye-bearing store I like to think of as a close, personal friend are my affordable Ed Hardy dream come true. It doesn’t matter to me that we are in the middle of summer, and that I will most likely not take them out of my closet until the end of the year; it’s impossible for me to simply pass up this splendrous pair of footwear.

The gray color features a purple hue giving these cozies the same type of versatility as their more neutral colored cousins black or white; even better, the shade also serves as a gorgeous backdrop to the white skulls orbited by thorny crimson red roses, and the words Rock & Soul in sassy black script.

Joan Jett may have declared her love for rock and roll; but me? I think I may have a passion for rock and soul.

The Subtle Yet Spectacular Miss KK

Miss KK’s fashion work of genius has been floating about since 2000; yet I wasn’t introduced to her whimsical, far-out creations until a few short months ago when I glimpsed her yummy, crystal-encrusted feather necklaces upon Moxsie. From there it was true love which spawned hundreds of scenarios for wearing these first-class feathered fantastics – with a t-shirt and jeans; a little black dress; the piece de resistance when attending a 1920s flapper-inspired get-together. They’re subtle yet spectacular beauties; as is Miss KK herself.

Why the name Miss KK?
Miss KK: Miss KK is my name – KK are my initials. Kristine Karnaky is my real given name, but once I moved to LA ten years ago I christened myself Miss KK.

When/how did you start Miss KK?
MKK: I first started making clothes to sell back in 2000 when my friend Kime Buzzelli opened up her boutique ShowPony. She needed things to sell, and that’s where it all began. I decided to start making feather necklaces when I had a fashion show about two-years-ago, and needed some accessories to feature. They were so loved that I started making and selling them.

What’s on your wish list right now?
MKK: I really want some awesome cork/clog shoes. Not too heavy or dumpy...really elf chic. Do they even exist?

Can you describe the ultimate Miss KK girl?
MKK: The ultimate would be someone who loves to dress up, wear lots of color, can dress up to the nines, or do the downplayed flats and casual style and still look amazing. She is of another time – not trendy, and not afraid to be herself. She is totally aware of the who’s and what’s of fashion, but is more a style starter than follower. She loves to wear vintage. She is carefree, happy, light, fun, demure, dark, fairy, elf, and temptress all at once...she’s amazing!

Clothes. Jewelry. Which do you prefer to create more?
MKK: Clothes because it’s a whole outfit that creates an entire feeling and experience. I think having the opportunity to create a whole scene with a backdrop, people, location…is the absolute dreamiest thing. Of course, dresses are a bit harder to sell because the type that I make are constructed of expensive fabric, and quite time-consuming to put-together. Jewelry is less expensive and more versatile as to who can wear it. I feel that by creating my feathered necklaces I’ve expanded Miss KK to reach many more people.

What is your go to accessory?
MKK: My feather necklaces. I wear mine everyday, all the time, with everything!

Favorite places to shop?
MKK: I love vintage! I go to Ragmop like once a week because it’s a block from my house; but they also have amazing older vintage for good prices.

What is the mission of Miss KK?
MKK: To give girls dreamy clothes and accessories that are like no other, and make them feel unique, special, and beautiful.

Any advice for girls who love fashion/design?
MKK: Expand your outlook and horizon. Try new things, think outside the box, and find your own style and nitch. I admire people who are different and have their own thing going on. It’s inspiring to see people so inspired!

I Love Lucy

I love a bag that can go from day to night in five seconds flat. I love a bag that is classy and chic, yet cute and comfortable. Girly Grunge

I am not of the generation that watched Brenda Walsh and Kelly Taylor feud over badboy Dylan McKay. I did not see the bookish Andrea Zuckerman moon nonstop over Brandon Walsh until she was already a high school graduate and married to someone else. And Steve Sanders? I didn’t meet this Corvette-driving rich kid until he had cleaned up his act and was running his own newspaper. No, I was too young to have experienced the first generation of Beverly Hills 90210 first-hand. Rather, I watched them in reruns throughout my adolescence, and grew to love them once the series had already come to an end. But the fashions never left my mind.

Donna Martin was quintessentially the best-dressed. She was quirky yet cute, and managed to fuse girly florals and ruffles together with the dark, utilitarian, androgynous styles that so perfectly fit the title of grunge. Yes, she would slip a pair of black 8-eyelet Doc Martens on her feet with thick socks and a short paisley colored dress, and manage to look trendy. She would pair that same bit of footwear with floral shirts and denim shorts and, once more, pull the look off perfectly.

Perhaps it was something to do with the fact that these 8-eyelet black Docs were not too short and not too tall, so they appeared unobtrusive to the girly look she had going on above the waist. Maybe it was simply that fashion was more in tune with grunge during the early 90s, so the style was accepted with open arms, more so than it would be today. Either way, it is a look that I have always loved, and attempted to recreate myself. Thus, when I spotted the new 8-eyelet Doc Marten release, I instantly thought of the perky blonde Ms. Martin.

The Dr. Martens Floral 1460 are the epitome of girly grunge. The old-school black and white Docs that have been around seemingly forever (and which I have loved since I was a fourth grader) have been remodeled, so to speak, to feature a floral print that is glamorous, yet still true to its grunge roots.

White Floral is dotted with bright blues, oranges, reds, and pinks. Black Floral is slightly different, embellished with more muted flower tones ranging from lavender to pale yellow. And while they are titled “boots,” you do not have to wait until the streets are slick with ice, or the rain is coming down in torrents to slip them on. The floral print makes them perfect for spring, summer, winter, or fall. The white would look decadent with a lacy, wedding-inspired dress. The black would look divine with minis or a motorcycle jacket. The versatility is undeniable; as are the trademark gems – bouncing soles, midsole contrasting stitching, and logo tag at the back.

In these, part of you can be chic, trendy, stylish, swank, smart, elegant…the other can be bedraggled, rough, tousled, scruffy, disheveled, mussed – all in a pretty way, to be sure. These are destined to appease the part of me searching for a pair of boots that works in all types of weather. A plat du jour that provides a flat sole and traction for those moments when I feel the need to make a sprint to the subway or the head of the sample sale line. A tour de force when I sense that my look of the moment requires a bit of edginess. This is girly grunge. Glam grunge. Feminine and sweet yet masculine and bitter.

I need a pair. Donna Martin would surely love a pair. Are your tootsies dying to slip into a pair, as well?

Tell Me A Story

It was Kathleen Turner’s Joan Wilder in the film Romancing the Stone who opened my eyes to the glamour that accompanied the life of a writer. The ability to concoct wild stories full of romance and adventure. The chance to create characters who embodied all of the features that you would look for in a best friend, co-worker, even the perfect man. But, best of all, she led me to believe that writers need not worry about how they looked during their creative moments. No, they could spend their days decked out in a pair of fabulous flannels, letting the ingenious momentum flow through their fingertips; because you see, my darlings, writers – at least of the fiction world – simply went to work in their pajamas. Gone Buggy

As toddlers we long to put anything and everything that moves into our mouths. In elementary school we find it irresistible to collect whatever we find – even if it has legs and crawls. In junior high we spend a good 65% of our time screaming as our sixth grade crushes attempt to put spiders in our hair. And in high school? Well, we use the brawn of our football player boyfriends to protect us from all minute creepy crawlies that cross our path. Now, however, with the spring upon us and the summer fast approaching, I find bugs, at least in terms of accessories, completely darling. Not to mention the perfect complement to our floral-inspired ensembles!

Girlprops "2 3/8 Insect Ring" I am trying to be very good in terms of spending money on rings, but the moment I laid eyes on this 2 3/8 Insect Ring three days ago, I just knew that I had to take it home; and promptly placed my order. The rhinestone embellishment and subtle orange and copper enameling make this a piece that is easy to pair with any color in your closet; while the antique finish provides a vintage vibe that is hard to ignore. I already know that I’ll be waving my hand to and fro non-stop when this cutie is perched upon my finger!

Fred Flare "Dragonfly Earrings" I’m not sure if it has something to do with having seen Kirsten Dunst don a temporary dragonfly tattoo on her back complete with sparkly rhinestones to a premier so many years ago, or the magical colors that dragonflies are made up of; but I’ve always found the flitting insects to be so romantic. Thus, I fell in love with these Dragonfly Earrings in three seconds flat. The pendants are intricately detailed. The gold color is simply stunning. I don’t know about you, but I can certainly see myself slipping these lovelies into my lobes all summer long.

Kenneth Jay Lane "Red Enamel Ladybug Watch/Pendant Necklace" Regardless of the fact that ladybugs are a type of beetle, I have always counted them as my favorite insect due to their bright color, trusting nature, and penchant to sit demurely on your hand for long periods of time. ♥Girl and the Grill I’m just going to cast aside all thoughts of my kitchen disasters – such as the sugar cookies that were hard as rocks and featured wax paper stuck to their bottoms; the banana bread that was burnt on one side and soupy on the other; and the chicken that was black on the outside and way too pink for safe consumption on the inside – and admit that, thanks to a little inspiration from Katie Lee Joel, my adorable new obsession, I want a grill. I am infatuated with attempting to make her Memorial Day Burgers, her Shrimp with Chili Peppers, and even her BBQ Chicken. Thus, I am in need of a grill. This Retromodern Mini Grill from Anthropologie certainly fits the bill. Cute, retro, tiny, and absolutely perfect for the girl who knows next to nothing about grilling. Stand back, I’m about to unleash my inner Bobbie Flay!

♥Invitation Only I really, truly wish that I was in New York City right now, because the event of the season is taking place tonight, and I am going to miss it. Fashion Party is the first-ever fashion networking party for fashion bloggers, designers, and fashionistas, and will be taking place at Heathers (on 506 E. 13th Street between Ave. A & Ave. B). Will there be giveaways? Yes. Will there be raffles? Of course. Will there be countless opportunities to meet amazing people? Without a doubt. ♥Cookie Cutter Footwear Maybe I’m not the only one obsessed with cooking and the Food Network. I think that Mr. Marc Jacobs himself has been spending a bit of time testing out his culinary skills in the kitchen, if his recent footwear releases are an indication of anything. There are his Flat Cut-Out Heart Shoes, Heart Shaped Slingbacks, Heart Wedge Sandal, Lace-Up Shoe with Heart Heel, and Multi-Heart Sandals. Each looks as if it has been crafted with the assistance of a kitschy little heart-shaped cookie cutter; plus, they’re simply scrummy!

♥Seventeen Again No, unlike Zac Efron’s character in the film 17 Again, I have not had the chance to rewind time and relive my high school years. However, whenever I spot a new issue of Seventeen magazine on store shelves, I can’t help but find myself feeling giddy and incapable of keeping my hands off it. Just flipping through the affordable fashions, dating tips, make-up tricks, and true life stories makes me feel like I’m Seventeen Again. The fashion editorials, the celebrities on the cover, the interviews...it’s all a guilty pleasure that I simply can’t resist. No, I’m not seventeen, but I’m still a subscriber of the magazine; and will be for years and years to come!

That's Haute

Haute: Adjective High-class or high-toned; fancy: an haute restaurant that attracts a monied crowd.
High; Elevated; Upper.
Fashionably elegant.
With such meaning, it is no surprise that I should find myself coveting One Language’s Haute Bag. A bag that brings all this and more to the table with its originality and individuality. A bag that oozes high-class effervescence when primly sitting by your side at the local coffee shop; or when simply swinging to and fro from your crooked arm as you traipse from class to class or window shop with a group of girlfriends.

But this Haute Bag is not just a piece of eye (forgive me) arm candy. No, while it is charming and trendy; upper crust and utterly divine, it is also completely functional. Perfectly sized for the girl on the go who plans on expelling the entire contents of her oversized handbag into it; in addition to a textbook or two, perhaps an additional pair of ballerina flats should her stilettos stand in her way of succeeding at the Chanel sample sale on Broadway, and a cardigan should she find herself chilly in the brisk early evening air.

And pockets? Darling, this tote is loaded with more than you will ever need – from buttoned to zippered, big and small. The Haute Bag, of course, has it all. Including an extra zippered laptop sleeve that matches its larger counterpart. Perhaps I’ll use it as a make-up bag; or an oversized change purse.

But it’s canvas you say. Why would a canvas bag be sold for $110? I’ll tell you why…it is an original. Not just an original One Language Label piece, mind you. No, each bag is original, for each natural colored bit bears a liner that features handwritten inspirational quotes in noir. No two bags sport the same notes; thus, this piece de resistance is synonymous with receiving a special letter from a secret someone. One that is just for you.

Lounge Lizard

I’m not sure if it’s the prospect of the four day weekend that is looming ahead of me right now, or the sheer fact that I am simply thrilled to be done with school for the summer...either way, the only thing I can think of at the moment is lounge pants. A cozy, comfy pair of sweats that are cute while still retaining a semblance of style; so I don’t have to suffer through any of those I-feel-like-an-unkempt-slob moments that so often filtrate my mind when I’m lazing about the house. Yes, I’m admitting it right here, I want to be a lounge lizard – at least for a few days.

American Eagle Outfitters “Aerie Girly Crop Pant” I once read that eagles are an ancient symbol of the sun. Maybe that’s why I had to include these Aerie Girly Crop Pants from American Eagle Outfitters; for, in my case, they represent the ending of one school year, and the beginning of a sun-filled summer. The strawberry candy color is a mix of bubblegum and fresh picked strawberries. The skinny fit gives these lounge pants a fairly hip, yet undeniably playful, carefree vibe. And the contrasting navy blue Bald Eagle graphic is a whimsical touch that is simply irresistible. I kind of need these. In addition to the matching hoodie and tank!

Victoria’s Secret “French Terry Crop Pant” I find it odd that Victoria’s Secret has seemingly become one of my favorite stores over the past few months, given the fact that, prior to this time I was convinced that they were nothing but a lingerie shop, and paid little mind to them. Now, I want anything and everything with their tag on it. Case in point, these French Terry Crop Pants. These are lounge pants fit for a ballerina. The colors – field grey and dusty pink – are demure and dainty; while the texture of the material is as smooth as silk. I could most certainly see myself wearing these outdoors on a casual shopping day, or stretching out in them on the sofa in the middle of the summer. Je veux!


Ed Hardy “Drawstring Lounge Pants” I’ll admit it, I’m not the biggest fan of actual tattoos, but I have become completely obsessed with Christian Audigier’s (aka Ed Hardy) tattoo-inspired designs. Thus, it does not shock me that I would instantly find myself crazy about these Drawstring Lounge Pants. The aqua color is the perfect backdrop for the brightly colored koi fish which harbors a happy-go-lucky expression, and is representative of “strength of purpose and perseverance of adversity” in addition to good fortune and luck, two things you can never get enough of; while the full-pants length is perfect for those chillier days when capris simply won’t make the cut. What do I see in my future? A pair of these pants, of course!



Lounge Lover “Tessa Jumpsuit” I’m one of those obnoxious people who often feels the need to color coordinate my top with my lounge pants. Of course, unless you’re buying a matching set, this often creates unnecessary fashion worries, especially when all you’re truly searching for is a little rest and relaxation. So this Tessa Jumpsuit? Pretty Predictors

It was my encounter with Mattel’s Magic 8 Ball at the tender age of eight that gave me a hankering for a crystal ball of my very own. One that would show me the future. Tell me what was awaiting me in the coming minutes, days, months, even years. But, alas, that day never came. Instead, I was relegated to an existence of watching Disney villains use crystal balls to show their tiara-wearing princess victims their fate. But now, I can have a crystal ball of my very own; albeit a small one.

Free People’s Crystal Ball Ring is the answer to my clairvoyant dreams. The black, gold, and silver sparkle-filled magic marvels sit atop a silver plated metal base that serves as a stunning stand for the mystical sphere; while the size fulfills all of my typical cocktail ring requirements. Despite the fact that they are only available in a size 7, and I require no more than a size 5 1/2, I long to take all three of these pretty predictors home. After all, there is no question in my mind that these beautiful baubles have the power to hypnotize on sight. What do I see in my future? A Crystal Ball Ring, to be sure.

Except, perhaps, a little black skirt. Which is, respectively, the object of my affection, and one of the top ten items on my wish list since penning Girls in Glasses a few weeks ago.

Yes, the LBD is something that every girl should have hiding away in her closet; but I want an article of clothing that will have the opportunity to make many appearances in public. One that will enjoy countless nights out on the town, even if it’s for a simple little shopping spree, or a get-together with the girls. A versatile piece that is cute yet chic; sophisticated yet flirty; fun-loving and free-spirited, all in one. What embodies all this and more? Why the LBS, of course!

You’ve no idea how extensively I’ve searched for the crème de la crème of little black skirts, darling. I’ve met the Elizabeth and James Corset Knit Skirt, only to find that it was no longer available. I’ve crossed paths with BCBGMAXAZRIA’s Cotton Sateen Skirt; mingled with French Connection’s Christmas Stripe Skirt; exchanged sweet talk with Juicy Couture’s Women’s Wool Skirt with Oversized Bow; was introduced to Cynthia Steffe’s Miley; and contemplated Milly’s Diamond Jacquard Wool Skirt. Then, while perusing the Big Brown Bag itself, I saw her.

BCBGMAXAZRIA’s Cotton Sateen “Mila” Pleated Skirt is the quintessential little black skirt. Pleating on the front and side provide a very youthful fit and draping; while the bow-like adornment found upon the waist is a flirty and feminine detail that would make even the moneyed Blair Waldorf swoon.

At times, I’ll dress it down with black tights and my trademark leopard print ballerina flats. Occasionally I’ll wear it au natural with nothing but a simple tee and a pair of perfect pumps. Should I need something sassy for a cocktail party? I’ll toss on a cascading black top, clasp a chunky, sparkly statement necklace around my throat, and slip a sparkly bauble upon my index finger.

You see loves, the LBD may often find itself in the spotlight; but its less obtrusive and domineering counterpart, the LBS, is, perhaps, quite a bit more wearable. So why not invest in one, two, or maybe even five? After all, the little black skirt will never go out of style.

A Floppy Fervor

Yes, I have been lusting after American Apparel’s Wool Floppy Hat since writing about it way back in March a la Floppy and Fabulous. Yes, one of the reason’s why I am a headcase over this magnificent piece of headwear is because I am tempted to channel Brigitte Bardot’s effortless yet tres chic style. And yes, one of my rationale’s for not having yet shelled out the $40 in order to call this beauty my own has to do with the fact that I tend to purchase hats, wear them once, then toss them into the back of my closet where they collect dust until I eventually give them away to some poor, deserving soul.

But, dear me, I simply don’t see this hat facing the same fate. Nay, the Wool Floppy Hat is the cream of the crop. The best of the best. The pick of the litter. It is the epitome of all things fabulous, what with its wide brim and natural – but completely trendy – color options. And how is it possible that one simple accessory can be so multifaceted?

♥I’m off to the beach. My tote is in hand; my sunglasses are covering my eyes, and what’s on my head? My Wool Floppy Hat in light grey – the perfect complement to my pink monokini.

♥I’ve been invited out for drinks with a few out-of-town friends who unexpectedly stopped by for a visit. I’m donning my little black dress, but I want a statement piece that will help me feel sultry yet mysterious. I’ve just the thing to enhance my look – my Wool Floppy Hat in black!

Meow, mas petites! Kitty cats may be sultry, mysterious, and sensual; but, alas, you don’t need fur to embrace your feline side. Non! Non! Non! ♥Suddenly Susan My mother named me Erika after Susan Lucci’s character Erica (same name, different spelling) Kane on All My Children; a show she watched voraciously in the eighth grade. So I suppose it was inevitable that somehow, someway I would become a fan of hers. Due to my discovery of her jewelry line, that time is now. Affordable and completely chic, her pieces are gorgeous, jaw-dropping, available in many sizes (including a size 5 ring!), and perfect for the girl who wants big baubles on a budget. I am already the proud owner of not one, not two, but four (3 goldtone and 1 hematite) of the “Prim and Proper” Round Stone and Simulated Pearl Cluster Ring, which receives compliments during each wearing; thus, I believe it is time to pick up a few more of her creations. I currently have my eye on the “Floral Frosting” 2.77 ct CZ and Aqua-Color Stone Ring; the “Tonal Tryst” 3-Piece Tricolor 8” Bangle Bracelet Set; and the “Dynamic Dangles” 2-Strand 39” Necklace/Belt. To put it bluntly, Susan’s designs are magically delicious!

♥The Ottoman Empire I’m sure you all remember This Seat Is Taken, my post from a few weeks ago that paid tribute to finding a seat for our beloved handbags. Since then, I have discovered that a special spot to seat our purse is not the most unusual request, for many restaurants actually offer ottomans for this very reason. According to Brooke from Check Your Spelling, New York City’s Daniel offers a foot-tall ottoman specifically made for your purse “So you do not have to lean over for your bag should you need to.” And ONE Restaurant in Toronto , Canada offers up the same specialty. So you see girls...our simple inquiry about a special chair for our handbag? Obviously not as far-fetched as we originally thought.

♥Chic Girl in the City I visit Savvy Mode on a daily basis for my dose of new luxuries to add to my lust list. So when I learned that I was the winner of Nina Willdorf’s City Chic, courtesy of Savvy herself, you can only imagine my excitement. One, I was a winner! Two, the punchy pink cover was the perfect complement to many of the fashions lurking in my closet (after all, what girl doesn’t want to color coordinate with her reading material?). Three, from beginning to end each tip was more perfect than the last. Culinary tips that are ideal for the amateur chef on a budget. Fabulous websites that help me to save money, while still reaping the benefit of amazing merchandise. Even a little something called Dumpster Diving, which is a lot more glamorous than it sounds. I may not be in the city at the moment, but yes, I can live like a chic girl in the city; partake in indulging in “the luxe life for less” thanks to this trusty little handbook that I simply cannot get enough of!


♥Read All About It While the heirs, heiresses, and royals may have been born with silver spoons in their mouths; I, a budding writer from the day I came into this world, have been surrounded by newspapers. Reading material that would leave black smudges of newsprint on your hands; make crinkling sounds when you turned the pages; and was delivered on a daily basis. Thus, I have always, and will always be infatuated with anything donning a newspaper print. Forever 21’s Newspaper Print Bandeau Bra fits the bill to a T. It may be made to be worn underneath your clothes, but I can’t help but to feel the urge to wear this as a top while lounging about the house on warm summer days. ♥Bird Neck Extra-long necklaces. Jingly jangly jewelry. Those are usually the traits that my neckwear possesses. Yet for some inexplicable reason, I am fully enamored with feathered necklaces. Pieces that are silent yet violent – in the fashion sense, that is. Jewelry that packs a punch. That makes people stare in wonderment. Offerings like this Miss KK Peacock Feather Necklace. ♥Eye of the Tiger Bronzer is a completely foreign cosmetic to me. But, alas, as a pale girl whose actual legs have been mistaken for white tights in the very recent past (two weeks ago), I have begun to look into options for giving my otherwise pasty pallor a more golden glow. My first thought was a self-tanner. My second thought was bronzer. I believe that my reason for being more taken with the latter, however, has to do with my discovery of Chantecaille’s Bengali Bronzer. As if the heavenly designed bronze compact wasn’t incentive enough; the mix of gold, platinum, bronze, and copper tones, in addition to the Bengal tiger imprint makes me want to shell over the well-over-my-cosmetic-budget amount. Don’t worry, I will restrain myself, but I have most certainly been struck with the eye of the tiger.

I Dream of Jordi

Lux-u-ry: A material object, service, etc., conducive to sumptuous living, usually a delicacy, elegance, or refinement of living rather than a necessity.
Sure, you may not need it, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve it. For you, luxury may entail that little black dress you saw displayed in the BCBG storefront. For me, well, it includes said little black dress, in addition to lavish stationary. Yes, I’ve admitted it; one of the things in life that makes my heart skip a beat is possibly the smallest luxury of all...fancy notepaper.

As a writer, I feel lost without a pen and paper close by, so of course I want something that is not only useful, but elegant, as well. In kind, my jaw nearly hit the ground when I innocently made my way down the Target stationary aisle and laid my eyes upon the cartoon chic notebook collection of Jordi Labanda.

Now, mind you, while I get giddy over childlike illustrations, I try to harness my giggles and opt for a more sophisticated stationary that is still infused with style. But Jordi Labanda’s Heyday Collection was too much for me to resist. The magazine inspired covers depicting chic ladies in amazing locales from Paris to New York dressed to the nines simply called out to me from their perch upon the steel shelves.

The high-cheekboned illustrated femme fatales reminding me of Paris Vogue Editor-in-Chief Carine Roitfeld sitting front and center at Stella McCartney’s Ready-to-Wear at Paris Fashion Week. Audrey Hepburn wielding her cigarette holder as she stepped into the role of Holly Golightly in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The Manolo-loving Carrie Bradshaw in her all-white power suit as she strutted along the sidewalks of New York City on her way to her interview with Vogue.

And so, like any self-respecting shopper, fashionista, and luxury-seeker, I did what I had to do. I snatched up as many of the diary designs as my skinny arms could possibly carry, and headed straight to the checkout line with my spoils. Here I sit, surrounded by my swag, and all I can do is smile. And dream of the Jordi Labanda purchases still to come, of course.

Trapeze Artist

I used to watch a lot of reruns of Next and Parental Control; mindless dating shows that were a complete guilty pleasure for me. One thing that both shows seemed to have in common was the bizarre first dates the contestants would go on - my favorite being the trapeze lessons. Now, don’t get me wrong, I see nothing wrong with being a trapeze artist; but, given my slight fear of heights, this would be the last thing I would want to do on a first date. No, I prefer to keep my feet on the ground and partake in a different type of trapeze artistry...of the fashion variety!

Bensoni “Sand Linen ‘Kirsten’ Trapeze Tent Dress” I suppose I should let you in on a little secret. When I was in fourth grade I was absolutely obsessed with pinafores due to the fact that my beloved American Girl doll Samantha was always wearing one. So you can only imagine my surprise when I fell upon Bensoni’s Sand Linen ‘Kirsten’ Trapeze Tent Dress. I’m not sure whether it has to do with the organza pleated front bib, the pleats throughout the dress, the loose fit, or the organza lining that plays a game of peek-a-boo from underneath the hemline, but the similarities between this beauty and a pinafore are uncanny. It has awakened a time from my childhood that I had forgotten all about; and made me desperate to call it my very own. Now, if only the $615 price tag wasn’t standing brutishly in my way!

Max Studio “Bubble Sleeve Trapeze Dress” Do you remember that butterfly dress I was gushing about just a few weeks ago? The one by Free People that is no longer being produced? While the color scheme is different, as is the fit, this fantastic fuchsia/birch colored Bubble Sleeve Trapeze Dress from Max Studio reminds me ever so much of it; plus, it’s less than half the price. The sleeves have a very fluttery, flirty air about them; while the multi-colored screenprint acts as a conversation piece, what with its intricate design. There is something very demure, yet Lolita-inspired about this frock that, literally, makes me weak in the knees. Perfect paired with ballerina flats or a sky-high platform. I think I’m in love!

Marc Bouwer Glamit! “Short Jeweled Collar Trapeze Dress” I’m one of those people who always likes to be prepared; thus, I see nothing wrong with buying this Short Jeweled Collar Trapeze Dress now, so that I will have it on hand should I be invited to a chic cocktail party – even if it’s ten years from today. The bugle beaded, jeweled neckline provides a height of classic glamour to the oftentimes more casual trapeze dress; while the free-falling shape and sultry keyhole keep it from ever appearing stuffy. Yes, I’ve certainly sold myself on it. Now, is anyone having a party?

Forever 21 “Twisted Flower Knit Tunic” At first look I thought this was a top; in all actuality, it can be worn as either a top or a dress. My take on it? It must be worn as a dress, because it’s too fabulous to have to compete with a pair of fancy pants. This Twisted Flower Knit Tunic is a hot pink piece of perfection that stays in tune with the floral craze that is currently upon us thanks to the flower trim along the neckline. To add a little extra kick of sass, it features a ruffle trim bottom that is as girly as it gets; and incredibly hard to resist, mind you. Even better is its affordability - $19.80. For that much, you could also buy a few jangly gold bangles and a pair of glamorous espadrilles to complement this punchy piece!

Juicy Couture “Long Sleeve Butterfly ‘Easy’ Dress" By now you are probably thinking that my life revolves around butterflies; but it doesn’t. It’s just that sometimes something catches your eye that is so irresistible you simply can’t help but fall in love with it. Case in point, this Long Sleeve Butterfly ‘Easy’ Dress. This is one of those dresses that give off ethereal vibes from the moment you first see it. The turquoise colored silk is breezy and lightweight, sporting bell sleeves that are 3/4, in addition to a tied ruffled scoopneck that is squeal-worthy. But the over-the-top bit that I’m lusting over? The gold foil butterfly print. Honestly, there is nothing more charming. I think I may faint from the cuteness!

I Love the Butterfly Girl

Yes, yes, yes...I am well aware that the song by The Cowsills is actually titled I Love the Flower Girl; but the moment I laid eyes on these feminine Cocoon Combs from one of my favorite Etsy sellers, whichgoose, I instantly had to change the lyrics slightly to fit these delicate, demure creations that I am absolutely, positively dying to call my very own.

I didn’t set out to fall in love with a canvas bag. No, it was an accident from the getgo. A beautiful disaster, if you will. There she was, staring me in the face, and I just knew that I had to have her.
