NOTD: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Get Mod

Two coats of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Get Mod. White Creme.

My love for white nail polish is basically indescribable. I adore it because it just feels so fresh and so clean, clean.

Get Mod isn't groundbreaking - it's your basic white polish; but that formula! While many white polishes are streaky or patchy {or both!}, Get Mod is pure per-fec-tion! It's self-leveling, smooth, gorgeously opaque, and long. lasting.

Highly recommend this one if you're looking for a white hot shade for summer!

Jenna Hipp New Candies 8-pc Mini Nail Polish Set Swatches + Review

No matter what store I'm in, I will manage to sniff out nail polish. Case in point: Costco. A few weeks ago I was stocking up on essentials, when I spotted the Jenna Hipp New Candies 8-pc Mini Nail Polish Set on an end cap. Given the fact that I had never tried Jenna Hipp before, and it was on sale for $7.99 {practically free!}, I had to grab it. And you know what? It's kind of amazing - as in quality, colors, formula {these are five free} and, of course, price. Check out my thoughts on all 8 of the shades below!

Thin Mint is a Vibrant Mint Creme. No nail polish collection is complete without a minty hue, and Thin Mint fulfills that requirement to. a. T. The formula is so incredible here - it doesn't have the streaky / patchy issues that some mint shades have; plus, the brightened effect of the color makes it feel pool perfect. This is 2 coats.

Violet Éclair is a Bright Violet with Iridescent Blue Shimmer. Purple may be a fall color, but Violet Éclair feels seriously fresh for summer given that yummy iridescent blue shimmer. I found the formula here to be v thin on the first coat {especially around the nail tips}; however, it did build to opacity once I applied a second coat. If you want the shade to be more intense, you may consider a third. This is 2 coats.

Marshmallow Fondant is a Butter Yellow Creme. I lovelovelove this color! I am on such a pale yellow polish kick lately, and Marshmallow Fondant made me adore it even more. Being a lighter shade, I did find that this one had a slightly milky formula that resulted in a bit of streakiness; but, it did level out with a few coats with little trouble. This is 3 coats.

American Pie is a Navy Blue Creme. Doesn't the color make you think of blueberry pie and the 4th of July?! Though baby blues are like my polish besties, I rarely wear navies; thus, American Pie is a total game-changer because...swoon! This is, unquestionably, one of my favorite shades from the collection - the high-shine finish, the opacity, the fact that it doesn't stain! This is 2 coats.

Rose Tart is a Fuchsia Creme. Rose Tart is blindingly bright in a saturated, jewel-tone kind of way - the color definitely leans fall berry {it's deeper and darker IRL}. The formula and pigmentation on this is just phenomenal. I think this would make a fab pedi shade! This is 2 coats.

Crème de Cantaloupe is a Orange Creme. Orange polish really only hits my mani radar around Halloween; but the peachy undertones of this one make it super wearable - and absolutely perfect if you love bright polishes. Crème de Cantaloupe {tell me you're as obsessed with the name as I am!} goes on beautifully, and has one of the creamiest formulas of this collection. Really, really love this one! This is 2 coats.

Trés Parfait is a Lavender Creme. This color was one of my primary reasons for purchasing this collection; and while it is absolutely gorgeous, it is completely different than what I was expecting. I thought it would be a Victorian rose / mauve pink, and it was actually...lavender. Again, super pretty, but not what I was expecting. Formula, however, was fab; though it did slightly wrinkle/bubble on my middle finger. This is 2 coats.

Pink Lady Finger is a Bright Pink Creme. I'm not huge on pink polishes, but this one is so, so, so incredibly cute, and perfect for summer! Pink Lady Finger actually borders on neon, so it dries to a semi-matte finish {you definitely need top coat if you want the shine you see here}. The formula is brilliant on this one - super creamy, self-leveling, and lush; while the color v bright, playful, and fun-loving {i.e. necessary for beachy vacays}. This is 2 coats.

AVAILABILITY: Costco.

PRICE: $9.99 at Costco.

{beauty board} the sunkissed series: face

A bronze, golden glow is an #fotd must once the temps rise, but doesn't mean you need to slather yourself in self-tanner. The question is: how sunkissed do you want to go? For all-over healthy color, opt for a bronzing primer or bb / cc cream applied under foundation or alone for a subtle golden goddess glow. For sunkiss with a kick {read: total beach babe}, apply a bronzing powder to temple, cheekbones, and chin {the places the sun would naturally hit}. Good to glow!

NOTD: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Babe Blue

Two coats of Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Babe Blue. Pastel Periwinkle Blue Creme.

Not that I needed the validation {because I already knew how fabulous this shade was}, but...multiple people asked me about this color during the week that I was wearing it because it. is. incredible {we're talking Top 5 favorite polishes of all time incredible here}.

Babe Blue is so beyond pretty {despite the fact that the shimmer is barely detectable}, I can't even...The formula is nothing to sneeze at either. Though there were some v minor self-leveling issues, the polish as a whole was flawless - and lasted a full week with no touch-ups. Seriously babes...go get this one!

valkyrie {urban armor gear review}

I have a tendency to choose iPhone cases for purely aesthetic reasons {i.e. a super cute illustration or fun shape}. While these clearly make my wardrobe happy; they oftentimes don't provide the type of protection that something as valuable {and can't-live-without} as an iPhone requires. Enter Urban Armor Gear {UAG for the initiated}.

I was super excited to receive an e-mail from UAG with an offer to review one of their cases. And, once I viewed their ultimate drop test from space video, I was fairly convinced that their iPhone cases would definitely have the strength to survive daily life with moi.

The selection was a no-brainer for me, I picked the Valkyrie iPhone 5s Case {$34.95 USD} in the shade Valkyrie because it was pink {with a few black accents}, and I love it. Seriously though, it has been my one and only for the last three weeks.

Despite the fact that the case has an armor shell and meets military drop-test standards, I find it to be incredibly lightweight {more so than previous cases I have owned}; yet still v sturdy and easily accessible. One thing I did not use is the HD Screen Protector that came with the case. Me and HD Screen Protectors, while I would love to use one, simply do not mesh well. They never lie flat for me, which I find incredibly frustrating.

I am so incredibly happy with this case, and will definitely be purchasing from UAG when I upgrade to an iPhone 6 in a few months. The quality and level of protection is truly amazing - especially considering the pricepoint.

How do you protect your smartphone?

Everything Is Everything

I usually try to come up with a theme for each edition of Links a la Mode, but this week’s topics were so varied that all I can think of is that Lauren Hill song. You guys covered everything from abandoned housing projects in Greece, to Gucci in New York, to graffiti in San Francisco (I guess G’s were actually a theme!). In any case, we’ve got lots of great writing, and images to go with it.

You know what else is everything? The midi-length denim skirt Ms. Hill is wearing in that video. I’d be stoked to score that at a vintage store. But I digress—on to the links!

NOTD: Ciaté Paint Pot in Talent Scout

Two coats of Ciaté Paint Pot in Talent Scout. Purple Creme.

I'm not usually a deep purple fan; but this one {which reminds me a bit of grape jelly} is my jam ATM. I mean, hello, just look at that pigmentation!

Talent Scout has the type of formula that dreams are made of - smooth, self-leveling, highly-pigmented. I was actually surprised that this shade wasn't a OCW; but I think that it has the potential to be if you use thicker coats {I'm a thin-coater myself}. This one will likely be on repeat come fall!

be the belle of the...prom

Though my v short stature tends to leave me gravitating towards mini hemlines for nearly all occasions, there are certain events in a girl's life {ahem...prom, for one} that require...how shall I put this in simple terms? Drama! We're talking Dynasty-esque, royal family inspired high drama dripping with decadence {and sequins, rhinestones, diamonds, beads, and pearls!}, spun in tulle {or ruffles, lace, organza, and taffeta!}, and Gone With the Wind hemlines sweeping the ballroom floor. In other words...for your big day this year, forgo minis in favor of prom ball gowns.

Too much? Let's try not enough. Prom is no longer a little dance held in miniscule high school gymnasiums across the country, decorated with dollar store streamers {hung from basketball nets and bleachers}, and accented with cheesy tunes that the student body is expected to groove to. Rather, like online shopping {thus, Prom dresses online}, prom has become a can't miss, blowout event laden with many essentials.

First up, the promposal. Oh boys...approaching a girl at her locker and asking her to be your date for prom is so not gonna cut it nowadays. It's all about the movie moment invite. Brainstorm, research other promposals, and come up with something killer that will seriously wow her {otherwise, she'll find someone who will - true story}. Second, dinner and a limo {because what girl doesn't want the opportunity to stick her perfectly coiffed and made-up head out the sunroof on her way to one of the most memorable nights of her life?}. Last, but by no means least, the dreeess! We've been talking about ball gowns here, so let me introduce you to 6 of my personal faves!

Trumpet/Mermaid Sweetheart Tulle Floor-length Beading Prom Dresses
{The color is hypnotic - and the perfect complement to the silver detailing.}

Sexy Spaghetti Straps Backless Lace Wedding Dress
{There's something to be said for sweet simplicity.}

Ball Gown Strapless Organza Floor-length Beading Quinceanera Dresses
{Don't you just love the watercolor vibe of the color combo?}

Glamorous Long Sleeves Lace V-Neck A-Line Wedding Dress
{The bodice has the perfect, Little Mermaid, under-the-sea thing going on, amiright?}

Princess Sweetheart Tulle Floor-length Lace Prom Dresses
{Who else is getting Glinda the Good Witch vibes off of this pretty? Absolutely adoring the way the silver detailing looks paired with the saccharine pink!}

Trumpet/Mermaid Sweetheart Tulle Floor-length Beading Prom Dresses
{Frozen. That is the first thing that comes to mind when I look at this gorgeous gown!}

Which ball gown would you love to find hanging in your closet?

Olivia Palermo x Ciaté London Nail Collection Swatches + Review

Olivia Palermo has been my street style goddess for more years than I can count, so when I heard that she had signed on as Guest Creative Director for 2015 of Ciaté London I was giddy {for lack of better word}. The only thing that increased that giddiness? Receiving the complete Olivia Palermo x Ciaté London Nail Collection trio on my doorstep! I've basically spent the entire week playing with these polishes, and I've got to say...I'm in love. Peep the prettiness below!

Sundays is a Pale, Milky Mink Crelly. Le sigh, I have died and gone to heaven with this color. Sundays is the ultimate way to feminize your fingernails. Though described as Olivia's off duty nude, I found that it leaned far more pale pink in hue {think essie Ballet Slippers}. The formula here is divine - creamy, self-leveling...if you love a milky, French tip look 2 coats will do. If you're seeking full coverage, opt for 3. This is 3 coats.

Hutch is a Classic Red Creme. Billed as Olivia's go to red, Hutch is now officially my go to red, as well. You guys, this color is gorgeous - bonus: it has a gorgeous formula to match! Fluid, pigmented, fabu...I'm in love! You can achieve full coverage in 1 coat, but when I go red I like to go intense, fiery, flaming hot red so I opted for a second. This is 2 coats.

Nantucket is a Coral Creme. Nantucket is your quintessential vacay shade, so it's no surprise that it's billed as Olivia's hot vacation coral. The formula here was...odd. I found it to be thick in terms of consistency; yet, it also required to be applied in thick strokes, as it dries v quickly. As long as you apply it thickly, you're golden. Thin strokes just won't do for this hue. NOTE: As you can see, lighting wasn't great for this swatch {it was overcast outside}; the color is highly saturated, and has pinky/orange undertones. This is 2 coats.

AVAILABILITY: Sephora.

PRICE: $24.00 each at Sephora.
