Tightwad Tuesday: Isabel Marant Otway Studded Ankle Boots on a Budget

Darlings, to the left, prepare to salivate over Isabel Marant’s outrageously chic and futuristic Otway Studded Ankle Boots, the very same ones that caused a stir on the Fall 2009 runways and have been seen on the tootsies of AnnaLynne McCord, Lindsay Lohan, and Sienna Miller; to the right take a peek at Alloy’s tantalizing Trinity Bootie.

While Trinity sports a faux leather strap and faux suede upper, as opposed to the real suede and leather construction of the magnificent Marant’s; for just $42.90, in comparison to the $1,295.00 asking price of their haute couture counterparts, they are the perfect way to add a little edge to your demure look du jour – and allow for the buyer to indulge in both colors…black and gray!

Is today the day for you to please the big spender within; or will you play it cool and be thrifty?

Fashionably yours!

Sunday Steals: Anthropologie by Eva Franco Aniseed Skirt for Less

Darlings, on the left we have Anthropologie’s utterly adorable Aniseed Skirt, the very same one that completely sold out Online within the blink of an eye – or so it seems; on the right we have ModCloth’s majestically cute Cricket Match Skirt.

Though ModCloth’s marvel lacks the ever so slight crinkled appearance of the Anthropologie piece; for a mere $41.00, as opposed to the $128.00 price tag of the Aniseed, it allows the frugal fashionista to truly show her stripes – at a fraction of the price!

Is today the day for you to please the big spender within; or will you play it cool and be thrifty?

Smitten Saturday

Spotted At Chateau Marmont…because the only thing more important than the Cassandra Naho’ Tassel Flap Leather Hobo dangling from the crook of your arm, is the tres chic reading material found within its floppy evergreen folds. Lauren Weisberger’s Last Night at Chateau Marmont is just that. Two parts Sex and the City, one part The First Wives Club. Lesson learned? Prepare yourself for an irresistible rendezvous you’ll never want to end.

Clutch-22…because you may be more shopaholic than bookworm, but that’s no reason to allow your brainy side to take a backseat to your beauty; simply wear it loud and proud upon your person a la Kate Spade’s Book of the Month Clutch. Cleverly designed to take on the appearance of one of three classics – Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, or, my personal favorite, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby - each minute carryall harbors the ability to house your essentials; while adding a truly classic touch to your look du jour. Which title will you be adding to your library of accessories, my loves?

Champagne Wishes and Marshmallow Dreams…because the only surefire way to guarantee sweet dreams come bedtime is with the assistance of a savory treat devoured right before you drift off to dreamland. Let’s be honest darlings, shall we? Not any sweet will do. One needs something that is avant-garde yet old-fashioned; familiar yet fabulous; a guilty pleasure yet full of glamour with every bite. Which is precisely the things that Dipped Marshmallows provide to the foodie within. Three large marshmallows are placed on a stick kabob style then submerged in your choice of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white ribbon. What flavor will you be indulging in this evening, dolls?

Wear Your Art…because locking one’s art away in a living room – regardless of how luxurious it may be – is an absolute injustice to the creator. A more satisfactory way for one to wow the world with their collection of masterpieces is merely by wearing them in the form of lavish, Hand-Painted Silk Scarves. Toss the Pink Mirage piece over your shoulders to add a splash of understated color to your basic James Perse Brushed Jersey Tank; wrap Very Pink Rain 4 around the handle of your Marc by Marc Jacobs Saddlery Lou Lou Satchel for instantaneous glamour and personality; or channel Hermes by weaving Sun Music through a tightly-wound side braid. How will you wear your art, kitty cats?

All That Glitters…because a true fashionista knows the number one way to sparkle is by helping those in need. With the LeSportsac Shimmery Messenger one can add a little twinkle to her handbag collection; whilst ensuring that school-age children are receiving the nutrition required to keep them healthy. Twenty-percent of all proceeds collected from the sparkling stunner will benefit Blessings In A Backpack, a charity which sends low-income children home with a backpack filled with enough food to feed them for the weekend. Go on darlings; get your shine on!

What were you smitten with this week?

Back to the 101 Giveaway

Lovers, before you know it, the leaves will begin changing colors; we will tuck our teeny tiny denim shorts into the depths of our closets, replacing them with chunky knit sweaters; our sandals will morph into riding boots, bikinis into bulky overcoats; and our days will be spent not soaking up the sun shoreside with pretty drinks in hand, but rather locked up in classrooms studying the works of Aristotle and Plato. There’s no denying it darlings, back to school is inevitable; therefore, returning to those hallowed halls with reading material that allows for a bit of mindless self-indulgence to de-stress is an utter essential. And now three (3) of you beautiful bookworms will be taking home just that! Café Fashionista has teamed up with Hyperion Books to bring three (3) of you ravishing readers a copy of Gossip Girl author, Cecily von Ziegesar’s, latest fictitious effort Cum Laude - a guilty pleasure read that you will be unable to put down! Back to School...Fashionista Style!

Lovers, I’m not sure where you do your back to school shopping; but as a frugal fashionista, I find that Costco is my one-stop shop for all things fabulous. Why? I can stock up on everything from guilty pleasure reads a la Lauren Weisberger’s Last Night at Chateau Marmont to cute camis and cozy pet beds for the kitty I may or may not have snuck into my dorm room. In simpler terms, it is a store of wonders, where the fashionista can snag every last item her heart desires – and now YOU can check out Café Fashionista’s guide to back to school essentials in the September 2010 Issue of The Costco Connection magazine, on Page 33 (my new favorite number!), under the title Need it, want it, gotta have it – simply click one of the aforementioned links, or click the image below twice to enlarge the article to screen size and read for yourself. Oh, and I should mention…the cover model of the September 2010 issue? None other than Blake Mycoskie – the founder of the socially-conscious TOMS Shoes (whom I featured here back in November of 2009). Just thought I’d throw that out there for all of you who are as obsessed with shoes as I am.

Thrifty Thursday: Rock & Republic Nika Studded Pumps for Pennies

Dolls, to your left feast your eyes upon Rock & Republic’s ravishing Nika Studded Pumps, the very same ones seen “rocked” by many of your favorite celebrities – from AnnaLynne McCord and Drew Barrymore to Rihanna, Twilight’s Kristen Stewart, and Gossip Girl’s newest addition, Miss Katie Cassidy; to the right take a gander at Luichiny’s luscious Fanta See Platform Pump.

Though the fabulous Fanta See’s are made out of a synthetic suede-like upper, unlike the true suede of Nika; for a mere $64.99, as opposed to the $295.00 required to add Nika to your wardrobe, Fanta See is just as capable of helping you to channel your inner vampy coquette – at a fraction of the price!

Will Rock & Republic tempt you into being a big spender, or will Luichiny inspire you to save?

Spotted: At the Steps of the Met

Darlings, for nearly two years now (since January of 2009), many of you have paid daily visits to Café Fashionista – my little humble abode on the World Wide Web. During that time, I have received an enormous amount of questions about myself, all of which have gone unanswered. You see, when it comes to fashion, music, and books I possess a little something called the gift of gab; finding it hard to hush in regards to three of my favorite subjects. Quite the opposite can be said when it comes to talking about…moi. Until now, that is. Oui oui, my loves! I am finally un-pursing my lips (currently lacquered with mark’s Juice Gems in Juicy Fig) to answer some of the questions I am asked most frequently by lovelies like yourselves, and to give you un petit peek into la belle vie that I lead. Fabulous, mais oui?

Where do you live?
A. Southern California by way of New York City. I was born in Greenwich Village, lived in Brooklyn, moved to New Jersey as an infant (a place where I spent many a-summer traipsing along the boardwalk of the Jersey Shore begging my mother to buy me hermit crabs displayed in the storefronts), and, at the age of five, migrated to Southern California. Despite the fact that I spent only a brief time in The Village, I am convinced that it is responsible for my creative side – a notion only made stronger after reading Suze Rotolo’s A Freewheelin’ Time. If you haven’t read it; you must.

What would your perfect day consist of?
A. Alone: People watching at Starbucks accoutered in Tigerlily’s Alis V Neck Sweater; or endless cups of coffee, curling up in By Malene Birger’s Baquilla Mohair Sweater, and watching non-stop episodes of Gossip Girl. Come to think of it, stop by on a Saturday afternoon, and you will find me doing the latter – sans the By Malene Birger piece, that is…it’s a bit too rich for my blood at le moment. With Friends: “The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation that you ever had.” What does that say about my perfect day with the besties? Anything and everything is fabulous!

Who is your fashion muse?
A. Blake Lively a la Serena van der Woodsen of Gossip Girl. She effuses a bohemian free-spirit that I envy – yet does so in the most sophisticated of manners and dress. To put it bluntly, her style is so undone, that she appears perfectly put-together – if that makes any sense at all.

What do you always order from Starbucks?
A. Grande Light White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino – No Whip. Have that awaiting my arrival, and I will love you forever. Seriously.

7 Passions:
A. Books, music, animals, friends, family, shoes, and….life!

What are your obsessions?
A. Blogging. Serena van der Woodsen. Boots. Oversized sunglasses. Mix tapes. Gossip Girl marathons. Eloise. Writing. Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent. Almost Famous. Music. Lip gloss. Fairy lights. Sparkles. Peter Pan. Vanilla Bean Frappuccinos. Skeleton keys. F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Little Prince. Marie Antoinette. Sofia Coppola. Cocktail rings. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Coffee shops. Carousels.

What is your favorite quote?
A. Given the fact that I collect quotes the way a bibliophile collects books, naming a single favorite is very, very wrong in my mind; nevertheless, I will leave you with my current favorite - “A wise girl kisses but doesn’t love, listens but doesn’t believe, and leaves before she is left.” – Marilyn Monroe.

What is your favorite season?
A. Fall, fall, fall! The changing colors that accompany Autumn; crunchy leaves piled high to dive into; cozy, cable knit sweaters; boots; pumpkin patches; apple cider; hay rides; trips to the apple orchard; the arrival of the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks; fireplaces roaring to life; the smell of cinnamon and spice in the air. I truly cannot imagine a more magical time of year!

What is on your bedside table?
A. My cat! Gypsy does adore the cool breeze that comes in through the window above my nightstand. Sitting next to her is my 16GB iPod Nano (pink, of course!), along with my journal and BlackBerry Curve 8900. Sitting underneath her is the September issue of Town & Country magazine – please tell me I’m not the only one who adores what Stephen Drucker has done with it since he took over as Editor-in-Chief; F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Beautiful and Damned; and Choderlos de Laclos’ Les Liaisons Dangereuses - another thing Gypsy adores is lying on my reading material!

What’s on your playlist?
A. Sway by The Kooks; Private Affair by The Virgins; Armistice by Phoenix; Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters by Elton John; I’m Not Your Toy by La Roux; Any Fun by Coconut Records; Wild Wolves by Athlete; Time to Pretend by MGMT; and Love the Way You Lie by Eminem feat. Rihanna – just to name a few. Every girl needs a bad boy in her life, mais oui? Presently, Eminem is mine.

What’s always in your bag?
A. My iPod, BlackBerry, a small notebook, an assortment of pens (red ink is my current favorite!), Oliver Peoples Chelsea Sunglasses, business cards, wallet, and, being a typical girl, a cosmetic bag which houses a mix of mark Glow Baby Glow Hook Up Lip Gloss and Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss (for reference, I am the lip gloss queen!). I have tried to downsize numerous times over the years, but that attempt has proven unsuccessful time and time again.

Your turn, my loves! Post your answers to these very questions on your blog so that I can learn more about...vous. After all, you've just learned quite a bit about me; it's only fair. Besides...you know you want to.

Fashionably yours!

Tightwad Tuesday: Moschino White Mock-Wrap Ruffle Dress for Less

Kitty cats, to the left please take a gander at the tres glamorous White Mock-Wrap Ruffle Dress from Moschino – the quintessential LWD (little white dress), if you ask me; to the right prepare to marvel over Max and Cleo’s Sleeveless Dress.

Though the stylish Sleeveless Dress lacks the flared bottom hem of the Moschino; for just $76.80, as opposed to the $399.00 price tag of Moschino’s refined Ruffled Dress, it is every bit as capable of becoming your favorite new flirty frock – at a price that leaves over enough cash for a chic new carryall a la mark’s I’m No Slouch Bag.

Which role have you decided to undertake on this terrific Tuesday, kittens? Tightwad or spendthrift?

Sunday Steals: Chloe Leather Lace-Up Wedge Boots at a Bargain

My loves, to the left take a peek at Chloe’s luxurious Lace-Up Wedge Boots, the very same pair seen upon the feet of everyone’s favorite Upper East Side Queen Bee, one Miss Blair Waldorf (aka Leighton Meester) during a season three episode of Gossip Girl; to the right prepare to swoon over the darling Davis Bootie by Coconuts by Matisse.

While the Davis is constructed out of canvas and trimmed in leather, as opposed to being crafted entirely out of leather a la the charming Chloe; for just $83.95, in comparison to the $695.00 price tag of their haute couture counterpart, they are every bit as capable of adding a splash of ladylike luxury to your ever-burgeoning shoe collection!

Are you having a tightwad moment darlings, or are you plagued with a craving to splurge?

Smitten Saturday

Glassy Lady…because, contrary to Miss Marilyn Monroe’s proclamations, diamonds aren’t a girls only best friend, as evident by Murano Glass Jewelry – specifically, the simply irresistible Murano Glass Pendants. The Amore Heart Pendant Amber Black Cord; the Arianna Round Pendant Green/Gold Black Cord; the Candy Necklace Gold. Each piece retains the ability to cast an elegant glow upon your look du jour; whilst ensuring that your individuality is never compromised. How? No two pieces are alike; making your choice of accessory just as one of a kind as your vibrant personality. Which Murano marvel are you coveting, kitty cats?

My Fair Lady…because the county fair may be a very-recent thing of the past; but the cotton candy you shared with a nameless cute boy while riding the ferris wheel most certainly doesn’t have to. Tasty Clouds Cotton Candy Company brings the flavors of a sweet and sticky summer to you year-round via Bagged Cones, Sweet Sticks, and Tasty Tubs, allowing you to relive your brief summer romance while satisfying a sugar rush at the very same time. Go ahead, my loves…indulge!

Taste the Rainbow…because the sensible stylista knows that the arrival of fall does not mean an end to one’s mini’s; rather, it spells new beginnings, and the chance to channel the Upper East Side’s vicious yet oh-so charming Blair Waldorf…as long as you are in possession of American Apparel’s Opaque Pantyhose, that is. Available in twenty-seven majestic shades; the Opaque Pantyhose are capable of transforming last year’s tailored shorts or flippy skirts into revitalized works of art. But even better than the colors themselves, are the monikers in which each shade is harnessed with. After all dolls, who on earth could fail to become intoxicated on legwear harboring the name Sangria or Bordeaux?

Here Kitty, Kitty…because no one knows better than the chic coquette that spoiling oneself with Rebecca Minkoff’s Main Squeeze Fold Over Bag or Nanette Lepore’s Hush Hush Leather Jacket is all well and good, as long as you don’t forget to shower your cute critter counterpart with a gift or two – in particular a new place to hang their (figurative) hat, like Loyal Luxe’s Canadian Cabin for Fluffy Little Critters. Decked out with playing balls, carpet, and a few decorative designs; the Canadian Cabin is made with kitty in mind, but perfect for a petite pooch, fluffy bunny, or mischievous ferret. Isn’t that just the cat’s meow, darlings?

Don’t Shoot the Messenger…because a true fashionable femme fatale knows that there is an appropriate time and place to push aside the prissy, and replace it with something a little more militant, a la the Rothco Heavyweight Classic Messenger Bag. Part Moschino Cheap & Chic. Part Fendi. Bottom line? It’s fully fabulous; and features enough pockets to house everything from your Free People Navajo Cardigan to your collection of mark Lipclick Full Color Lipsticks. Forward march, lovers!

What were you smitten with this week?

Glam to the Tenth Power!…because being glamorous is not a feeling – it’s a way of life; and the l'un numéroter way to dispel such an air to your many adoring admirers? Simple my loves; with the proper allocation of the headpieces crafted by the hands of Mary Beirne – the beautiful brainchild behind gla.MAR.ous. Let your inner hippie shine through via Kelly; play the role of pretty, pretty princess with Madeline; and wear your heart in your hair with Christina. Classy. Fierce. Fresh. Tell me dolls, which gla.MAR.ous piece are you eager to call your own?

Glasses Not Required…because, darlings, 3-D is the wave of the future; so why not add it to your wardrobe in addition to your DVD collection? American Apparel’s 3-D Flower Mesh Jumper sports an all-over design of mesh rosettes – hand-sewn, of course – adding a romantic touch to your look du jour that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy from head to toe. The best part of it all? Those geeky, thick-framed black glasses that you’re forced to don at the theater are not required to spot the 3-D effect of this irresistible piece. Black or white…which color will you soon be welcoming into your wardrobe, my loves?

If the Tiara Fits…because your lack of royal title means absolutely nothing, dolls. You and I both know that you’re a princess; now you just need a handbook which ensures that you are living life as such – Francesca Castagnoli’s Princess: You Know Who You Are is it. Whether you are schooling yourself in the art of royal entertaining, or merely attempting to unleash your inner princess in the workplace, Princess has the answers to it all. Now pop a copy into your Cleobella Nevaeh Drawstring Bag, and scoot out the door to find your Prince Charming!

Spread the Love…because night after night of curling up on the couch in your Winter Kate Ginger Cardigan, a jar of plain peanut butter in hand, can get oh-so boring. Just as one likes to play the field romantically on her quest to find the perfect cute boy; one must indulge in a teeny-tiny game of hide-and-seek to satiate her snack cravings. Justin’s Nut Butter is the answer to your edible desires. From Natural Chocolate Hazelnut Butter to Natural Maple Almond Butter and Organic Honey Peanut Butter, Justin’s has a flavor to satisfy any liking; and even offers a variety of Squeeze Packs small enough to pop into your Halston Heritage Brandy Stingray Satchel for when you’re on the go! Which flavor are you coveting right now, kitty cats?

Wrap You Up In My Love…because so much as attempting to survive the brisk (yet blissful!) fall and winter seasons with a scarf that fails to juxtapose between cozy and cute is utterly unfathomable for the fabulous; thus the reason why the stylish require a splash of Spratters & Jayne in their life. The Tube, The Cowl (with Round Buttons or Hearts), The Lapel (again, with Round Buttons or Hearts). Select the style, color, and embellishment that best reflects your posh personality, and wrap yourself up in warmth and elegance!

What were you smitten with this week?

Fashionably yours!

Show Your Stripes Giveaway

My loves, standing out from the crowd and allowing your vibrant personality to speak volumes via your look du jour, even when your pretty pucker is pursed, is what fashion is all about. The truly glamorous do not need to mince words, or shoot the breeze; they merely have to tilt their chin skyward and strike a pose, allowing the flirty frock currently accoutering their form to do the talking. Admit it dolls, women’s dresses are the true gossips of the world; the thought-to-be inanimate objects harboring the gift of gab – and now one (1) of you lovelies will be taking a new one home!

Café Fashionista has teamed up with the saucy Shabby Apple, the Online leader in women’s dresses, to bring one (1) ravishing reader a new flirty frock to add to her ever-burgeoning collection; specifically, the blissful BAJA.

Thrifty Thursday: Rag & Bone Sahara Open-Toe Wedges for Less

My loves, in the left corner you’ll spot Rag & Bone’s stunning Sahara Open-Toe Wedges; in the right corner you’ll find Jeffrey Campbell’s fabulous Full.

Though the jaw-dropping Jeffrey Campbell’s lack the leather sole found upon the ravishing Rag & Bone’s; for just $130.00, in comparison to the $390.00 price tag of their haute couture counterpart, they are every bit as capable of becoming the frugal fashionista’s new nude necessity!

What’s the verdict, lovelies…will you be thrifty or spend, spend, spend?

Fashionably yours!

Why Don't You...?

…pull on your Winter Kate Jasmine Cardigan, ring up a cute boy, and spend the afternoon constructing a cozy den of pillows for two?

…slide a pair of Chloe Sunglasses’ Myrte Cuir Sunglasses over your eyes, toss back your head, and laugh, giggle, cackle, chortle, and chuckle? As the saying goes, “A laughter-laden heart will live longer than a worrywart.”

…sweep your luscious locks into an undone bun, wrap MiH Jeans’ Large Scarf around your throat, and park yourself in front of the sewing machine that has been sitting untouched for ages? Today, my loves, your soundtrack is the mundane whir and hum as you create the dress of your dreams!

…accouter yourself in Juicy Couture’s Painted Garden Flirty Dress, visit an oversized garden center, and lose yourself as you follow the path paved by bumblebees and butterflies as they lazily wander by?

…give in to your inner rock star and attend a concert that will leave your head throbbing? Slip Evil Twin’s Skeleton Woven Tank over your head; wriggle into HHN by Haute Hippie’s Stirrup Leggings; stuff your feet into Hollywood Trading Company’s Stud Over the Knee Boots and mosh!

Tightwad Tuesday: Kardashians for bebe One Shoulder Pleated Dress for Less

Dolls, to the left you’ll find the irresistible Kardashians by bebe One Shoulder Pleated Dress; to the right you’ll spot Shock Boutique’s blissful Exaggerated One Shoulder Little Black Dress.

While the sassy Shock Boutique number lacks the exposed zipper along the back, so prevalent on the Kardashian creation; for a mere $42.00, in comparison to the $129.00 asking price of Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney’s avant-garde frock, it is every bit as capable as wowing your many admirers – at a fraction of the cost!

Tell me, kittens…will you be a big spender and go for Kardashians by bebe, or be thrifty and spring for Shock Boutique?
