NOTD: OPI The Bond Girls Liquid Sand in Jinx

Two coats of OPI The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand in Jinx. Fiery Coral with a Mix of Vivid Gold and Coral Glitter Throughout.

Jinx was the color that most piqued my interest from The Bond Girls Liquid Sand Collection, and it remains my absolute favorite {despite the fact that I'm not usually a fan of colors like this on my skintone}. It makes me think of Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games book series {you know...the Girl on Fire}.

It's an intense coral shade with a gold duochrome underlay and a blend of different sized glitter in gold and coral. This color looks alive in sunlight, and manages to be kind of perfect for holiday gatherings {or summer vacations}.

NOTE: Be prepared for compliments galore when wearing this shade. I had a bank teller swoon over the color {she even touched it to feel the texture!}.

halloween countdown...

I've been loosely talking about Halloween costume ideas with my besties since April;
but now that the spooky day is nearly upon us, I've armed myself with
Halloween Costumes Coupon 2013, and begun the process of elimination
to determine the purr-fect option for moi.

I've contemplated Daphne from Scooby-Doo, and tossed around the notion of being
Buffy Summers of Buffy the Vampire Slayer {again}; but think that I'll likely
wind up with one of the costumes you see below. Of course, being in possession of this
Costumes4Less Coupon Code, I may just buy them all.
After all, a girl can never have too many Halloween Costumes.

say it with a ring...

Happy anniversary. Whether you’ve been married for 10 years or 60 years, you have found the value in a long-lasting relationship. To honor the love, work, and sacrifice that has gone into this rewarding relationship, commemorate your love with an anniversary ring for your wife.

This Fall, anniversary rings for women are in a variety of beautiful styles. Some styles are contemporary and some styles are vintage. Rest assured, no matter who your wife is, you can find an anniversary ring that matches her personality.

Some anniversary rings for women are modest, tasteful, and reasonably priced. These anniversary rings often have a yellow gold or white gold band that boasts a row of ¼ carat diamonds, or even just one diamond in a beautiful setting. Other diamond anniversary rings are a little more elaborate, such as rings that feature sapphires in bezel or prong settings. If your girl loves style, some anniversary rings for women will be perfect for her, especially those referred to as “red carpet” rings. Stylish “red carpet” rings weave rows of diamonds in and around the top of the band in prong settings of diamonds at about .46 carats each. Some bands display swirls of diamonds in prong settings, and yet others boats simple rows of diamonds.

If your girl prefers the vintage look, some anniversary rings for women feature clusters and rows. These rings can have settings cast and intricately designed around three beautiful stones, or they can be rows of beautiful stones in a slim or wide band.

It’s your anniversary and you’ve celebrated life with this woman for years. Therefore, don’t forget the engraving. Almost every ring can be engraved, so don’t forget an extra special message on the inside, such as “Happy 50th Anniversary” or “50 Years With My Best Friend.”

OPI The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand Mini Set Review

“Dress suitably in short skirts and strong boots, leave your jewels in the bank, and buy a revolver.”
Countess Markievicz, 19th century Irish revolutionary
To be honest, I have never seen a James Bond film; but I have always been intrigued by The Bond Girl way of life. Mysterious, sassy, cunning, and, of course, always well-dressed and, occasionally, dripping with diamonds {check Diamond Geezer for some of my current sparkly faves}. On that note, investing in OPI's The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand Mini Set seemed a small price to pay to add a bit of Bond Girl swag to my polish stash {hint: I was right}.

Two coats of OPI The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand in Solitaire. Soft White Packed with Tiny Silver Glitter.

Based on Jane Seymour's character Solitaire from Live and Let Die.

Solitaire is a silver leaning pearl white that is loaded with fine silver glitter. It is neither harsh or chalky - just subtly sparkly and absolutely exquisite to look at {think just-fallen snow or crushed pearls}. Formula was excellent - two coats was all it needed to achieve full opacity.

Two coats of OPI The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand in Jinx. Fiery Coral with a Mix of Vivid Gold and Coral Glitter Throughout.

Based on Halle Berry's character Jinx from Die Another Day.

Jinx was the main reason I purchased this collection, and it remains my favorite. It's an intense coral shade with a gold duochrome underlay and a blend of different sized glitter in gold and coral. This color looks alive in sunlight, and is kind of perfect for holiday gatherings {or summer vacations}. Jinx's formula was the best of the four - two quick coats and you're good!

Three coats of OPI The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand in Pussy Galore. Soft, Icy/Baby Pink with Fuchsia Micro Glitter.

Based on Honor Blackman's character Pussy Galore from Goldfinger.

Pussy Galore reminds me a bit of pink champagne, due to the combination of it's icy pink base and fuchsia-toned micro glitter. For me, I found that it leaned a little too frosty for my taste, so it wound up being my least favorite of the four. I also had a bit of trouble with the formula - I found it thicker than the formula on the other three shades; and it never gave me that true texturized look of the rest of the collection. Maybe I just had a faulty bottle. Plus side: This is a great shade of pink for all skintones.

Two coats of OPI The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand in Vesper. Deep, Vampy Purple Packed with Black Matte Glitter.

Based on Eva Green's character Vesper from Casino Royale.

On coat one of Vesper, you see this super gorgeous eggplant purple jelly with fine matte black glitter; but by coat two {which is what you need for opacity}, all traces of purple disappear, and the color winds up looking entirely black. Not saying that's a bad thing {it's gorgeous if that's the look you're going for}; but it's different than I expected. Still gorgeous for fall / winter though!

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Personally, I love this collection. The standout shades for me are Solitaire and Jinx {which I will be repeat-wearing during the holidays}. What's fun about these polishes is that you can wear them texturized without top coat {as you see them here}; or, if you're not a fan of a textured finish, apply top coat and wear them as you would a standard polish. For $12.95, this is a truly affordable way to try out a gorgeous quad of colors and textures / finishes. Highly recommended!

What do you think of The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand Mini Set? Do you have a favorite shade or do you want them all?

{beauty board} oxblood lips

burgundy
Ravishing red lips have long been a simple way to achieve that throwback to old Hollywood glamour {or merely feel more pulled together come Monday morning when you're in a mad rush}. For fall, the orangey-reds that hold the key to our hearts year-round are being swapped for the It Shade of Autumn...Oxblood. Laced with undertones of blackberry, cranberry, and raspberry, or kissed with traces of metallic; it's a rich and refined counterpart to chic crimsons - and every bit as wearable for all skintones. Here are six fab products to help you try this look on for size:

dark lips
ONE: Kat Von D in ROSARY {$19.00} TWO: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics in BLACK METAL DAHLIA {$18.00} THREE: Marc Jacobs Beauty in 132 SABOTEUR {$30.00} FOUR: Revlon in BLACK CHERRY {$6.39} FIVE: NARS in TRAIN BLEU {$25.00} SIX: Smashbox in PLUM SCENE {$20.00}

Kat Von D's Painted Love Lipstick in Rosary is an absolute must-have if you're seeking an unfussy oxblood lippy. It's a completely creamy finish in a dark burgundy red hue, that applies evenly directly from the tube, and requires little to no touch-ups throughout the day. If you love a metallic finish, prepare to swoon over Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics' Moderncraft Lip Tar Collection in Black Metal Dahlia. The blackened burgundy shade is infused with red and berry shimmer that seemingly dances upon your lips. Bonus: Even after the color fades a bit, it leaves a beautiful, stain-like wash of color behind.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Lovemarc - Lip Gel in 132 Saboteur is the quintessential oxblood shade for fall. Why? The creamy texture is ultra-hydrating; and the color manages to flatter everyone - from fair skin to dark complexions {as a true oxblood should}. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry is my number one if you're eager to try out the oxblood trend on a budget. It's rich, it's vampy, it doesn't stain, and it's under $10.

Finding a lipstick and lip pencil that match identically is near-impossible; which is why I love NARS' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu. Sharpen the pencil and use it to line lips {to prevent bleeding}, then use it as a lipstick to create the perfect pout. Smashbox's Be Legendary Lipstick in Plum Scene is one of those seriously luxe products that will become a repeat-buy. The color is dark and dramatic; but the formula is lightweight and enriched with Vitamins C, E, and shea butter so your lips always feel moisturized.

Hot Trends In Rose Gold Jewelry

rose gold
A look at fall runway reveals designer’s desire to reinvent classic pieces. Chic additions, such as a leather accent or a colorful trim updates and instantly transforms our favorites into something new and exciting. We see this trend in clothing, where basic tees are being renovated with unconventional fabrics and graphics, as well as in jewelry. New metals are replacing the commonplace yellow gold and silver that we have seen for years. A new shade called rose gold is latest thing, creating a modern spin on classic pieces, such as watches, bangles, rings and earrings. The greatest thing about this fashion makeover is that we get to keep all the traditional pieces we love, but still look totally chic.

This trend recently debuted in fine jewelry. Rose Gold Engagement Rings by Natalie K feature this stunning shade. Rose gold has the ability to highlight the diamond’s natural shine, a quality that has made it a fast favorite amongst newlyweds, stunning customers everywhere. The pinkish tint contrasts the clarity of the gemstone, making it sparkle and shine. Natalie K combines classic style and current trends in the rose gold engagement ring collection, to create pieces that are timeless and breathtaking. These rings perfectly suit any lover of old world romance and modern sophistication, giving them a token of their love that they can treasure for a lifetime.

Gold Diamond Studs by DiamondStuds.com also feature glamorous rose gold. This pair of diamond stud earrings are surrounded by a halo of white diamonds and complimented by rose gold. This classic jewelry piece looks ethereal with the updated gold shade, making these a must have in your winter jewelry collection. The style and metal makes these earrings so wearable. They are sure to pair perfectly with everything in your wardrobe, making them a go-to jewelry piece. Whether you’re going to a black tie affair or looking classy for an everyday occasion, these earrings will compliment your look.

This trendy metal is also making its way into the world of watches and bracelets. Hot designers such as Michael Kors, Coby Madison and Rolex are incorporating rose gold into their pieces. Coby Madison created a stunning, 14k rose gold diamond sapphire bracelet. It features an “evil eye” in the center, adding an element of intrigue and interest to the piece. It is a standout accessory, and has the power to update an entire look.

Michael Kors watches are similar, in the fact that they pack a large punch. With the simple addition of a watch, your look can go from flat to fabulous. Michael Kors’ pieces are glitzy and flashy, perfect for showcasing your glamorous side. Pair a rose gold watch with a simplistic blouse and dark wash jeans for an understated, yet elegant look. It’s the easiest way to take your wardrobe to the next level and showcase your exceptional personal style.

Rolex’s rose gold watch shows this trend is here to stay. This high end designer is known for their classic pieces that have the power to withstand the test of time. Their watch features the fashionable rose gold shade and a minimalist design that compliments the coloring. Just like Natalie K and DiamondStuds.com, Rolex designers are known for marrying simplistic elements, classic design and contemporary aspects to create pieces that are fresh and beautiful making Rolex the most prestigious name in high-end luxury timepieces you can always sell your Rolex for close to what you paid.

When you’re shopping for the fall season, remember to look for classic pieces that have a modern twist. Browse designer’s latest collections, and find staple pieces that can be paired in many different ways. Having a few go-to looks will allow you to dress flawlessly for any occasion. Remember that even basic pieces in your wardrobe can look fabulous when they receive a fashionable update. Pair rose gold accessories with your current closet and new additions for an effortlessly chic vibe that is sure to get you noticed.

black & blue

black & blue
Despite the cries of fashion faux pas that a pairing of black and blue tends to incite; I've always loved the look of the color combo too much to abide by the rules and keep it out of my closet. And now that I've seen the so-called rule-breaking shades sashay down the Fall 2013 Emilio Pucci Runway? I'll admit it, I'm loving it even more. Bright cobalts temper the aggressiveness of the noir hue; while rich royals add a glimmer of mysteriousness to the midnight shade. Here are seven of my favorite black and blue fashion and beauty finds {Clockwise from Top Right}:

leather weather

leather 2

Style doesn't get much more fierce than a rocker-esque leather jacket; but if you so much as glance at the always-covetable model-off-duty looks, you'll find that leather has taken on an entirely new life form. What was once reserved for handbags, shoes, and outerwear has cropped up in the oh-so wearable realm of basics. Flippy minis, skinnies, and even the sports-centric baseball cap have been reimagined in leather; indicating that this is a tempting trend that you need in your wardrobe for fall - and beyond.

leather 2
ONE: ASOS leather cap {$40.50} TWO: DKNY leather-paneled leggings {$205.00} THREE: Forever 21 skater skirt {$17.80} FOUR: J Brand skinny pants {$895.00} FIVE: Vince leather dress {$995.00} SIX: Skaist-Taylor peplum top {$695.00} SEVEN: alice + olivia leather skirt {$395.00}

Snapbacks have become a fashionista staple. Opting for an all-leather aesthetic, like this ASOS Leather Cap, is a chic twist on the typical sportswear fare; and the perfect way to dip your toes into the leather look. Leather skinnies have become a uniform of sorts for channeling that effortless-yet-glam look that supermodels do so well. Top J Brand's Stretch-Leather Skinny Pants with a slouchy sweater for a dressed-down daytime style; or dress them up with a cropped blazer and power pumps. Not ready to rock full-on leather? You'll love these DKNY Leather-Paneled Stretch-Jersey Leggings! The vertical leather panels are elongating and add just the right amount of edge.

In the words of Karl Lagerfeld, “One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress.” And when the little black dress in question just happens to be leather {like this ultra-fab Vince V Neck Leather Dress}? Even better. The A-line aesthetic makes it sophisticated; the leather construction makes it sassy. Peplums are notoriously feminine and elegant courtesy of their ruffle-like detailing; but in leather, like this Skaist-Taylor Leather Peplum Top, they take on a more modernistic tone that is equal parts flirty and avant-garde.

My current fave? The leather mini. Styled alongside a slouchy knit and suede over the knee boots it's of-the-moment; paired with a blousy, chiffon button-up and pointy-toe pumps it's classic. I love the pleated detailing on alice + olivia's Box Pleat Leather Skirt, and the swish effect of Forever 21's Rock n' Roll Skater Skirt.

Celebrating 50 Years Of The Silicone Implant

patients
50 years since their introduction, breast augmentation with silicone implants has seen numerous advancements and refinement that is worthy of taking note of. More so in fact when you consider the turbulent time that silicone implants have had over the years. Since the very first procedure, that took place in the 1960s and was performed on Timmie Jean Lindsey, the silicone implant has gone from strength to strength. Over 1.5 million women had had breast augmentation surgery in 2010 alone.

According to Lindsey, whom is now in her 80s, she thought her new breasts were 'perfect' as soon as she came out of surgery. Although, she admits that the full effects of the operation wasn't realized until men started paying her more attention in the street and whistling at her. No doubt many women who have undergone breast augmentation can relate to the self-confidence and self-esteem boost that such surgeries can give them. Furthermore, it is the second highest cosmetic surgery option to date, which is quite outstanding when you consider that this type of implant has weathered the years well and is still used today – not many medical devices can stake that claim.

Thanks to the perseverance of medical professionals who fought to keep the silicone implant on the market despite having many people calling for their removal, the silicone wonder is now made with better quality technology and understanding. This means that the risks of adverse effects has been greatly reduced. Furthermore, the clinical tests and research that has gone into ensuring patients receive, not only the best medical devices, but also the most natural and realistic results. It has helped alter the very shape of the silicone implant.

Thanks to recent studies, medical professionals such as mya.co.uk/cosmetic-surgery/breast-enlargement are now using form-stable, anatomically shaped implants instead of round, smooth ones. Quite simply, the modern day refined implants are more concerned with the shape in regards to a woman's anatomy, which in turn means they produce a much more natural outcome. Due to all this trial and tribulation, it's no wonder that the 50th milestone mark is being celebrated loud and proud by various people across the globe. Hopefully there will be many more years of celebrating the silicone implant as it continues to become a more refined and safer medical resource that changes women's bodies and lives for the better.

NOTD: OPI The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand in Solitaire

Two coats of OPI The Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand in Solitaire. Soft White Packed with Tiny Silver Glitter.

If you are someone who loves the look of white polish, but dislikes the chalky, starkness of it today is your lucky day, because this is the white for you.

Solitaire is a silver leaning pearl white that is loaded with fine silver glitter. It is neither harsh or chalky - just subtly sparkly and absolutely exquisite to look at {think just-fallen snow or crushed pearls}. This is a textured polish, so it dries matte, requires no top coat, and has a gritty / grainy texture. If, however, you want a glossy finish, just add top coat.

Out of the entire Bond Girls Collection Liquid Sand shades {I'll be reviewing 3 more of them over the next few weeks}, Solitaire is my favorite because it is seasonless and so pretty to wear.

Side Note: Though there is glitter in this polish, removal is not difficult at all; and the staying power is phenom - it literally never chips. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

The little white dress is the quintessential way to channel demure, romantic innocence. The color is ethereal and pure; and when found in a loose, flowy aesthetic {like many of the pieces from Milanoo}, the result is all sorts of sweet. For fall, however, it’s taking a sassy turn {one that just happens to be perfect for Date Night}.

Replace the bare legs of summer with fall-apropos semi-opaque black tights coupled with black over the knee boots {opt for a second skin fit to streamline the look}. A black biker jacket adds edge; while Swarovski-encrusted hoops and a simple pendant necklace leave a trail of delicate sparkle. Complete the look with vampy, Bordeaux-hued nails, a rosy brown lip, and sleek, silky strands. So sweet and sassy, yes?

5 beauty products I would buy again {part 4}

Read Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of this series.

5 to try {part 4}

{1} Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo {$30.00} Half of the duo is a golden pink, the other is a white gold. I sweep a blush/bronzer brush through both, and wear it on the apples of my cheeks {you can also apply to forehead, nose, chin, and eyes}...so unbelievably gorgeous. It gives you the perfect, perfect natural {and incredibly beautiful} glow; and has a silky finish that never settles into creases. Definitely one of those can't-live-without products. Trust.

{2} L'Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black {$8.99} You know those felt tip eyeliners that dry out while you're applying {so frustrating, I know}? This is not one of them. Give it a few shakes, and you can create high-glam lines {including those tricky cat eye flicks}, in minutes. I've tried a lot of eyeliners lately {the life of a beauty / fashion blogger}, and found this one to give you the most control {ideal for beginners or pros}. Not to mention that the color is a rich black that never develops that grayed out look as the day goes on {I've worn it for 10+ hours with no issues}.

{3} NYX Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel {5.00} If you love lip gloss but want a little more color, let me direct you to my new obsession...NYX Butter Gloss. This is available in 12 shades. My favorite is the Apple Strudel, which is a pale coral that looks great with dramatic eyes. The color payoff is much stronger than your standard lip gloss. It's buildable, so you can go sheer, bold, or layer it over your favorite similar-toned lippy. I find these to be very hydrating and moisturizing - like butter, only better. NOTE: These have a vanilla-laced scent upon application; however, it dissipates within a minute or two, so it is inoffensive {at least in my opinion}.

{4} Goody Start. Style. Finish. Cushion Paddle Brush {$4.59} Is it a Mason Pearson? No. But it is an affordable, and truly amazing, sturdy brush. From personal experience, it adds a great amount of volume, and makes hair feel soft, smooth, and silky. I use it to brush the ends of my hair when wet, then let my hair air dry before brushing throughout.

{5} OPI The Bond Girls Liquid Sand Collection in Solitaire {$9.00} I shied away from textured polishes for quite some time because I thought their removal would be similar to that of a glitter; but Solitaire caught my eye, and completely proved me wrong. Solitaire is a soft white shade packed with tiny silver glitter. The color is not harsh or chalky {like your standard whites}; and the infusion of glitter gives the shade sparkle despite the fact that textures are matte. This color is seasonless, and looks exactly like just-fallen snow. So beautiful! And for the record...removal is nothing like a glitter {a billion times easier, in fact}. NOTE: I have swatches coming soon; or you can check them out on my Instagram here.

NOTD: CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis in Bahama Mama

Three coats of CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis in Bahama Mama. Peachy Pink with Silver Shimmer Throughout.

The lowdown: Bahama Mama is, essentially, the love child of L'Oreal's Versailles Romance and China Glaze's Mimosa's Before Mani's - a fact that I am very happy about, because those have been two of my favorite nail shades of 2013.

The formula on this is very sheer; however, it is incredibly easy to build, so you can achieve the opacity that you're going for with minimal effort.

As far as I know, this is part of CoverGirl's Limited Edition Summer 2013 Collection; so definitely grab a bottle sooner rather than later if you're digging the color.

seasonless sweaters

Sweaters are a non-negotiable in SoCal because someone is always
having a BBQ, or a bonfire, or a BBQ that leads into a bonfire. The latter is my personal fave,
because you basically start the day out in a tank and tennies, and round it off in a slouchy sweater and UGGS {yes, I know; but sometimes they're necessary}.
knit {ladies}

I tend to opt for sweaters in neutral colors that have an oversized, slouchy fit because in Cali, where it never gets too cold, they are completely seasonless. What works for bonfires at the beach in the summer and fall seamlessly morphs into fully-apropos ladies winter christmas jumpers when styled with a mini skirt and Mary-Janes for holiday parties. The same goes for guys.

knit {boys}

Those cheap mens christmas seasonal jumpers guys buy right before the holidays? Pair them with shorts on chilly summer nights, or pull-out all the stops with a dressier look {i.e. topping a pair of slacks} for date night, and they're good to go year-round. Bonus for the ladies...borrow one from the boys for a super cute menswear-inspired touch!

tempting timepieces...

When I was turning 9-years-old, the only thing I wanted for my birthday was a watch.
At the time, I was content with an under $20 piece of plastic that was fairly ridiculous looking;
luckily, for the sake of my personal style, my tastes have changed {especially in the watch department}.
cartier

Replacing the plastic of yesteryear is a love for the womens cartier watch range {specifically the Cartier Ballon Bleu W69009Z3, Cartier Santos Dumont W2006951, and Cartier Tank Francaise steel and gold W51007Q4 styles}; followed closely by Omega.

omega

My heart literally skips a beat when I look at the Omega De Ville Ladymatic from the omega designer watches collection. The aesthetic is so incredibly feminine - I want it in every color!

And for the boys? Well...you definitely can't begrudge guys for wearing mens Rolex Submariner watches, now can you? Always a classy choice.

Serious swooning ensued, and I am totally positive that more than a few of these beauties will make their way to my fall wardrobe.

The collection itself is classic and sophisticated; brimming with Parisian-inspired aesthetics and motifs, and sticking to a charming black-on-black-on-black color scheme spotted with a few pops of teal, burgundy, and white. The collection doesn't hit Kohl's stores until September 27, 2013; but until then, take a peek at 7 of my favorite looks.

for the boys...

Shopping for boys is one of the most difficult challenges a girl can possibly encounter.
Nine times out of ten they are content with tossing on the first thing that catches their eye
in the morning. And that's fine {after all, boys will be boys}. But...
it definitely doesn't hurt to throw a few more options their way. Trendy and chic in our minds;
and totally guy-approved in theirs.
mmm shoes

Maison Martin Margiela menswear is one of my absolute favorite guy-approved lines. The leather jackets are edgy and urban; the hoodies are polished; and the tees are casual enough for him / dressy enough for you. My personal fave? The trainers. Bright or subdued, they add a fresh pop to his step and take his basic denim to new heights.

polos

Polo shirts are basically the boy go-to when he has to dress up a bit, so you can never go wrong with picking up one or ten. I like the men's stone island polos because they're offered in a variety of colors {to match his mood, his eyes...}; and they come in long or short-sleeved options {perfect for year-round wear}.

How do you shop for the guys in your life?

{beauty board} plum smoky eyes

Kristen Stewart is one of my favorite people to see on the Red Carpet because her makeup {especially the eyes} always looks ridiculously fierce. Smoky shadows in a variety of colors; tight black liner; and an overall smoldering gaze that you can't help but to want to try for yourself. My current favorite? The plum smoky eye {seen above}. It's absolutely stunning for fall {as russet / wine / merlot / plum / burgundy shades tend to be}; plus, it gives you a new, high-glam eye option for Night's Out. Here are five of my top picks for recreating this look:

plum eyes
ONE: Urban Decay in LAST CALL {$18.00} TWO: NYX Cosmetics in RUST {$4.50} THREE: Stila in METALLIC MERLOT {$32.00} FOUR: COVERGIRL in PURPLE PLUME {$6.94} FIVE: Stila in VENUS {$20.00}

If you aren't ready to go all-out red-based plum, Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Last Call is a great option. It has purple undertones, which make it easy to tread slowly into the plum smoke trend; and it has amazing pigmentation. Simply apply it in the crease of your lid, and blend it down into your lower lashline. One of my must-have products for this look is NYX Cosmetics Single Eyeshadow in Rust. It's under $5 {how can you resist?}; plus it looks absolutely gorgeous when worn alone, but can also be blended with other shades to create your own look.

If you, like me, love a hint of shimmer in your shadow looks, you will adore Stila's Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Metallic Merlot. The cream finish is intensely buildable, and the foil finish is stunning - not overly sparkly; just perfect. CoverGirl's Smoky ShadowBlast in Purple Plume is your new BFF if smoky eyes are a conundrum for you {plus it is amazingly affordable}. It's a dual-ended shadow stick that guides you in terms of application so that you wind up with a glamorous gaze with minimal effort. Another essential if you're slightly clueless about complementary shadow shades? Stila's Eyeshadow Trio in Venus. The trio includes lid, highlight, and liner shades so that you have everything at your fingertips for a gorgeous plum smoky eye!

{fashion folio} effortless edge

effortless edge
Petite Grand Double Drop Pear Earrings in Gold + Marc Jacobs Sunglasses Exaggerated Cat Eye Sunglasses in Black + Rag & Bone Classic Newbury Booties in Nubuck Camel + J. Crew Striped Cotton Top + B Brian Atwood Grace Bag in Elephant + Campbell Knuckle Floating Ring in Silver + Sole Society Outback Wide Brim Hat in Black + Saint Laurent Stretch-Leather Skinny Pants

Most often reserved for saucy looks donned under the cover of darkness; the leather skinny is one of those rare pieces with the effortless flexibility to turn casual with an edgy twist for daytime looks that are downright chic, but never over-the-top.

Top your super-skinny trousers with a black and white striped tee {look for one with a subtle slouch, yet enough shape to show off your curves}; adding caramel suede ankle boots to keep the look unfussy yet polished. A black wide brim hat {strategically placed over loose, beachy waves} adds a mysterious, boho vibe to your look du jour; only made stronger by the appearance of oversized cat eye sunnies. Keep jewelry simple, with feminine drop earrings, and an understated yet fierce knuckle ring; rounding it all off with an oversized elephant gray leather tote {perfect for tucking new shopping acquisitions within}.

five must-have fall fragrances

I would love to be one of those girls who can settle on a signature scent and be done with it;
but with countless new fragrances hitting the market each week, and the abundance
of FragranceX Coupons and Perfumania Coupons providing me the opportunity
to try said fragrances out at a discount, I feel as if I would be missing out.
Solution? I unsuccessfully try to limit how many fragrances I purchase each season.
For fall 2013, these are my top picks:
fragrances
SOPHISTICATED: Nicole by Nicole Richie Eau de Parfum $55 / OPTIMISTIC: MICHAEL KORS Michael Kors Eau de Parfum Spray $54 / URBAN: CALVIN KLEIN Downtown Eau de Parfum Spray $45 / ELEGANT: DIOR Miss Dior Eau de Parfum $70 / PLAYFUL: MARC JACOBS FRAGRANCE Dot Eau de Parfum Pour Femme Spray $72

SOPHISTICATED: Hints of fruit, a vanilla / floral blend, and subtle traces of sandalwood + cashmere wood make this an incredibly feminine and sophisticated scent.

OPTIMISTIC: Creamy florals mixed with exotic spices make this essential for those "Who knows what the day will bring?" moments.

URBAN: The notes of fresh green pear are feminine; the touches of Texan cedarwood edgy; and the kisses of musk confident. The result is a unique fragrance bursting with attitude and a distinct downtown edge {hence the name}.

ELEGANT: Patchouli undertones highlight the fruitiness of the fragrance making it completely luxe.

PLAYFUL: Top notes of red berries mingle with creamy vanilla, creating a blend that is chic, youthful, and exuberant. Perfect for daytime dates!

NOTD: VS PINK Nail Paint in Teal With It

One coat of VS PINK Nail Paint in Teal With It. Frosty / Shimmery Blue-Leaning Teal.

First things first...I am not a fan of frosty polishes. That said, Teal With It from the new Victoria's Secret PINK Nail Paint line caught my eye, and wound up on my nails {which I actually love}.

The color is somewhat similar to NYC In a NY Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish in East Village; but Teal With It leans more blue, whereas East Village is more turquoise leaning.

I am incredibly impressed with this polish. The color was opaque {and bright and beautiful} in just one coat; and I was chip-free for days {upon days upon days}. Yes, it is frosted but there is a glow-from-within vibe to it that makes it totally radiant and easy-to-wear - even if frost isn't your thing. So excited to try more colors from this line!

natural at night...for daytime

Say hello to my latest shadow obsession...Too Faced's Natural At Night Palette. I picked this up on a whim during Ulta's Triple Points for Platinum Members promotion last month, and have used nothing but since {it has even replaced my Urban Decay Naked Palette...shhhh}.

The pigmentation is incredible; fallout minimal {or non-existent if you're using the non-glittery shades}; and application is a breeze {especially if you're a shadow novice}, as the palette includes How-To Glamour Guide Cards to create three smoldering eye looks - Classic, Fashion, and Night.

I do a nude lip day or night, so I love a smoky, smoldering eye even in the wee hours of the morning, and this palette gives me that. I've been doing the Fashion look almost every day, which is basically a killer green smoky eye using the shades Spotlight, Moon Stone, and Night Fever. It's a look that intensifies the color of my already-green eyes and is just plain gorgeous. If you're looking for a new palette to get all swoony about, consider your search over.

over the knees, please...

As if I weren't salivating {figuratively, mind you} enough over the forever on-trend over the knee boot, Miss Rosie Huntington-Whiteley {whom you likely know I adore} has come along to fully and completely convince me of their absolute necessity in my fall wardrobe. Sleek, skinny, and fitted throughout; enough of a heel to give you that extra burst of height; and constructed of supple, black suede so as to pair perfectly with super skinny denim or tempting leather trousers.

Here are five of my top over the knee picks {after all, a girl needs options}:

Alice + Olivia Magda Suede Over the Knee Boots {$590.00}

Stuart Weitzman Highland Suede Over the Knee Boots {$750.00}

Oscar de la Renta Silvia Scuba-Jersey Over-the-Knee Boots {$895.00}

Alice + Olivia Dae Over the Knee Boot {$695.00}

Stuart Weitzman Hitest Over the Knee Boot {$750.00}

Wet Paint Nails Nail Glaze System {Swatches + Review}

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Wet Paint Nails to try out their completely awesome and revolutionary Nail Glaze System, which basically allows you to create your own nail colors using their 3-step method {Base, Top Coat Glaze, and SPFX Coat}.

I was provided with 9 shades {4 base colors, 3 top coat glazes, and 2 SPFX coats}. Here are the combinations I created using the provided shades {see my complete review of the system after the swatches}.

Counterclockwise from Top Left:
1 Coat of Call the Chauffeur {Base} + 1 Coat of Willful Top Coat Glaze + 3 Coats of Caramel Breeze {SPFX}

Counterclockwise from Top Left:
1 Coat of Always Buy Platinum {Base} + 1 Coat of Wicked Top Coat Glaze + 3 Coats of Caramel Breeze {SPFX}

Clockwise from Top Right:
1 Coat of Shock & Aqua {Base} + 1 Coat of Lust Top Coat Glaze + 3 Coats of Moonstone {SPFX}

Clockwise from Top Right:
1 Coat of Crimson & Clover {Base} + 2 Coats of Willful Top Coat Glaze + 3 Coats of Moonstone {SPFX}

PROS:
    • The Base Colors are super smooth and easy to work with. On all 4 that I tried, they were opaque in one coat.
    • You can try all color combos on virtually using the Wet Paint Nails Try It On App before actually applying the colors to your nails - so you know what type of results you will wind up with.
    • The Caramel Breeze SPFX is literally one of the coolest things ever - the holographic edge it adds to just about any polish color is A-MA-ZING.

CONS:
    • I had severe bubbling issues with the Moonstone SPFX. Within 30 minutes of applying it, the polish would completely bubble up, making the manicure look unattractive.
    • I found that, once applied, the Moonstone SPFX made any nail color combination look seemingly identical and /or fairly similar. I didn't encounter this with the Caramel Breeze SPFX.
    • One coat of the SPFX did not make a huge difference on the nail; to really see an interesting effect, you had to apply 2 or 3 coats, which can be tedious work.
    • On me, I felt that the Moonstone SPFX never completely dried. It would dent mid-day, and just felt too thick on my nail.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I love the concept of this system {especially in the first combination shown here}; however, I found it a bit time-consuming, what with all of the different layers. If you're someone who wants a fast and fab mani, I wouldn't really recommend this to you; but if you're a polish connoisseur who loves having something totally unique on your nails, you will love this. I do highly recommend the Wet Paint Nails Base Coats, as they are fantastically consistent in all of their one-coat glory - and come in so many gorgeous shades.

Bag Spotting: Rebecca Minkoff Quilted Mini Affair

mini
Truth: I own a pair of shoes for every imaginable situation, but my closet is literally devoid of any type of going-out bag {be it for coffee, date night, or simply a night out with the ladies}.

Apparently, a cute carryall escaped my attentions while I was trying on boots at Nordstrom {story of my life}; a realization I came to this past weekend when, lo and behold, I was in dire need of one, and wound up having to choose between the Hobo Bag in Wine, the Hobo Bag in Black, or...the Hobo Bag in Denim {you see my problem here?}.

P.S. I opted for the Hobo Bag in Black; but came home and immediately began a search for a pretty {yet petite} purse to accompany me on future outings. Enter the Rebecca Minkoff Quilted Mini Affair {even the name is adorbs, yes?}.

mini affair
Top Row {from left to right}: Black $195 / Sea Glass $195 / Navy $195
Center Row: Port $195 / Rose Gold $117.99 / Fire Engine $195
Bottom Row: Fern $195 / Bittersweet $195 / Tawny $195

As someone who bounces between styles {sometimes boho, others classic / equestrian, and occasionally totally girly}, I love the adaptability of the Quilted Mini Affair - seamlessly looking just as amazing with a sheer shirt and skinnies as it does with an LBD or cuffed boyfriend jeans and a flirty tank.

Similar in size to the Chanel 2.55 {every girl's dream bag, am I right?}; the quilted aesthetic and chain strap are seriously luxe. And the fact that you can wear it shoulder style or crossbody? Total perk.

I ordered it in Black.
