beatnik...

Sweater-like tunics for summer? Certainly not my style of choice between the months of April and August {they are more than welcome during the chillier months}; but I am digging the beatnik vibe of this look. It's ridiculously chic in that effortless, bohemian, free-spirited way {perfect for low-key brunches or high-energy festivals, yes?}.

The ethnic, Southwestern print of the tunic, fringed bag, and chunky jewelry? Inspiring, to say the least. It's enough to make me want to take a page out of Kerouac's On the Road and set out for a summer of adventure - Steve Madden's Fringe Crossbody Bag in Cognac slung over my shoulder, and Ashley Pittman's Bora Horn and Bronze Bangles, Set of 10 stacked upon my wrist {to stay stylish during my travels, of course}.

do you give a cup?

If the name of this blog hasn't already tipped you off, I am a lover /
fanatic / obsessor
of cafes, coffee shops, and,
most importantly, coffee {my morning mantra, in fact, is
coffeecoffeecoffee}. So when Peet's Coffee asked me to share
their Give a Cup promotion? Total no-brainer. Of course I said yes.
After all, what is life without coffee?
Image and value provided by our partner, Peet’s.

In honor of the release of their new Single Cups, Peet's is hitting the road
in The Sip Truck to give out free sample cups of Peet's Single Cups in
the first ever social sampling experiment. The best part
{aside from free coffee, of course!}? YOU get to vote on where in America
The Sip Truck will turn up next {free samples in tow!}.

How Give a Cup Works: Each week Peet's will post new and current topics on doyougiveacup.com for America to vote on. The topics are fun and a little quirky, and Peet's wants to know - do you give a cup? The voting will determine where we host our sampling events each week.

Since we're on the subject...here's what I Give a Cup about:

Shoe sales. No greater distraction exists.
Dance. A mid-morning Paso sesh with Julianne Hough? An afternoon workout with the New York City Ballet? Yes please!
Nail polish. It's fashion for your fingers, and I feel naked without it.
Harry Potter. Truth? I'm still waiting for my acceptance letter from Hogwarts.
My Feline Family. They're always there for a quick cuddle.
Books. In the words of Charlaine Harris...“Here’s to books, the cheapest vacation you can buy.” Truth.
Boot season. Summer I love you, but you're bringing me down. Can boot season be here already?

What do YOU give a cup about?

three for the road...

three for the road
From brunch to the beach to the farmer's market followed by dinner. Finding a weekend carryall with the ability to accompany you to all of the above {in style, of course!} is one of those shopping tasks that sometimes seems like a chore {crazy, I know!}; but I've managed to find {count them} three.

Jada, Keeva, and Avianna. All handwoven by local women in Africa. All neutral in color so they can basically work with anything in your wardrobe. All capable of looking chic whether toting a French Baguette or designer bikini. And all from Sole Society {in partnership with Design Africa}.

I'm partial to Miss Jada; but I'd gladly clear room in my tote collection to house all three of these pretty ladies.

NOTD: Sinful Colors Poudre

Two coats of Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Poudre from the Bare Necessities Collection. Creamsicle / Peach.

Oh, Poudre how I love thee.

This was a total impulse purchase for me {for under $2, why not?}; but has officially restored my adoration of the entire Sinful Colors line of polish.

Poudre is one of those made-for-summer polishes - a spring-toned peach yet lit with this bright vibrancy that makes it a poolside must.

Formula was perfection. I've seen a few people say Poudre was thick to work with, but I disagree. I found it to be two coats of even, streak-free bliss. Plus it was fabulously long-lasting which is something I can never resist.

Highly. Recommended.

NOTD: American Apparel Nail Lacquer Dance

Two coats of American Apparel Nail Polish in Dance. Nude Creme.

Nude nail colors that don't give you the dreaded mannequin hands are hard to come by, so when I spotted Dance during my last AA crop top-buying spree, I figured I would give it a shot. P.S. Total score.

For me, Dance is one of those perfect nude colors, as it has a subtle, peach-leaning undertone that brings just enough life to your nails, while still giving you that elongated look.

This was my first encounter with American Apparel Nail Polish {and it won't be my last}. The formula is excellent - non-streaking, fast-drying, and buildable. I used two coats here, but I could have used three as there is a bit of VNL {not the formula's fault - simply the light color}. This is an awesome shade if you're looking for a classy nail color, or simply need a break from brights.

3 Things to Consider when Buying a Diamond Cross Necklace {sponsored}

author

cross pendants

Did you know that the name Diamond comes from a Greek word “Adamas” which literally means indestructible and unconquerable? However, this does not necessarily mean that the diamond cross necklace you have chosen for your loved one, would necessarily last forever unless of course you have chosen them well. Diamond necklaces would have to be bought after a comprehensive quality and price assessment exercise.

Buying a Diamond Cross Necklace: Tips to Consider

    • Irrespective of whether you prefer a heart diamond necklace or diamond pendant necklaces as preferred options, it would be essential to know and learn a bit about diamonds so that the quality of the stones can be assessed. You will be required to know what cut, color and clarity means and subsequently choose one that appears to spell its worth.
    • The best diamond cross necklace would also be one that exhibits superior craftsmanship. Apart from aesthetic brilliance, it would also be essential to choose a jewelry piece where the precious diamonds remain safely embedded into.
    • Assessing the prices of your heart diamond necklace would be equally important. Make sure to shop around for the best rates before you buy. However, reduced prices should not translate to quality compromises.

Diamonds are certainly forever, provided you have made a well assessed purchase. Deals for purchase of diamond jewelry would have to be planned over a period of time. Sources as well as jewelry items would have to be evaluated in tandem.

If you care looking for Diamond Cross Necklace, Diamond Necklaces, Heart Diamond Necklace, Diamond Pendant Necklaces and more, visit Union Diamond. You will find a wide range of some of the most elegant designs here.

from paris streets to venice beach

I'm a self-professed shoe girl, but my introduction to the Louis Vuitton Noe BB {thank you, Teen Vogue} has placed me directly in the territory of bag snob. The drawstring closure gives it a Vintage French flair; while the extra-long shoulder strap {allowing either crossbody or shoulder wear} makes it a versatile option for pairing with a floral shift and metallic silver oxfords while strolling the streets of paris, or styling alongside a pair of cutoff denim shorts for a day of biking the boardwalks of Venice Beach.

And let us not forget the colors...Figue, Cyan, Citron, Piment, and Fuchsia. One of each to sate the soul, s'il vous plait.

NOTD: China Glaze Mimosa's Before Mani's

Two coats of China Glaze Mimosa's Before Mani's from the Avant Garden Collection. Peach-Leaning Coral with Subtle Shimmer.

Ladies, I am in L-O-V-E! Not just with the name {seriously, how could you resist?}; but with the color itself. I am a sucker {with a capital S} for coral polishes, but Mimosa's Before Mani's completely takes. the. cake.

Formula-wise this is crazy good - almost one-coat territory, high-shine, easy to work with, and long-lasting. Four days into the mani, even after high-volumes of baking and texting, my nails looked fresh and perfect {this is with top coat, mind you}. Six days in, and all that showed was a bit of tip-wear.

Conclusion? New summer staple alert - for manis and pedis!

{muse of the moment} candice swanepoel's white-hot airport style

All-white ensembles for traveling? Basically the last thing I would consider apropos airport style. Until now. After spotting Candice Swanepoel time and time again donning the monochromatic look I've fallen under its chic spell. Simple, easy breezy...exactly what the doctor ordered for summer travels. It is destined to be my new go-to when hitting the road. I may even pick up a baseball hat, wedge sneakers, and distressed, white denim skinnies to create my own version of the last look - which is not necessarily my usual style; but, in my opinion, almost too perfect for words.

before you self-tan...polish {amala detoxifying body polish review}

My natural skintone is, literally, a mere shade darker than
that of a pasty vampires - an issue I encounter every. single. summer.
when I begin pulling out my bikinis, crop tops, and cutoff
denim shorts
{my warm weather style staples}.

This year, in an effort to achieve that Brazilian-bombshell-
Victoria's-Secret-supermodel-glow
, I have begun the process of
self-tanning with the assistance of Banana Boat Sunless Summer
Color
{P.S. It really works - I highly recommend}; but, as
I've only just recently learned, before you self-tan, you need to
shoo-away dead skin cells to create an even tan {who knew?}.

Just as I discovered this, Amala's Detoxifying Body Polish
arrived in the mail {amazing timing, yes?}.
I have incredibly sensitive skin, and a ridiculous amount of
allergies, so I'm always wary about using new products {my go-to is
Neutrogena everything}; but I felt more confident in trying
it out due to the fact that Amala products
are completely natural / organic, and the Amala philosophy
{created by Founder Ute Leube} is "When it comes to skincare,
you shouldn’t have to sacrifice results for responsibility.”

For the past week now I have been using the Detoxifying Body Polish.
I apply it from head-to-toe in the shower every other day;
then, after two or three scrubs, I apply my self-tanner.

The difference of using the self-tanner without the body polish
and with
is itchiness. As I said, I have sensitive skin,
so when I applied the self-tanner without first using the
Detoxifying Body Polish I found that my skin felt subtly
itchy {almost as if there were a few wayward ants
crawling on me}.

In contrast, when I applied the self-tanner
after a week of using the Detoxifying Body Polish, I didn't
experience that feeling - the polish soothed my skin, and made application
a far more comfortable experience.

Long story short? This is definitely a new
summer skin must for me.

Also pertinent... the rustic packaging of the product is
so incredibly charming - and perfectly plays up the
natural / organic vibe of the line.

Oversized cat eye sunnies coupled with a cream-colored lace skater skirt and teetering shoetie wedges {skip the sandals this time around} lend a luxe feel to a distressed denim vest {wear it as a shirt, crop top style, buttoning it up almost to the collar}, and a funky, chunky, burnished brass cocktail ring. Haphazardly sling a zig zag print belt around your waist, following up the tribal-esque theme with an embroidered drawstring pouch sporting ribbons, tassels, and braids {oh my!}. NOTD: Sinful Colors Easy Going

Three coats of Sinful Colors Easy Going. Soft, Pale, Milky Pink.

I was this close to picking up a bottle of Essie's Fiji when I realized that I owned a dupe of it in my purchased-but-never-used stash - Sinful Colors Easy Going.

Easy Going is definitely one of those shades that you need in your personal collection. For me, it's the quintessential baby pink - being almost white, but with the perfect touch of pink to keep it from being too stark or glaring. Bonus: It makes your skin look tan; so...perfect vacation color!

The formula here was slightly thick, but easy to work with. I found that the first coat was a little streaky; but by coats two and three {use three to avoid visible nail line} it evened out and looked gorgeous. One of my new favorites!
