ZOYA Luxe Noir Winter/Holiday 2024 Nail Polish Collection Swatches + Review

With a name like Luxe Noir, I knew that ZOYA's Winter/Holiday 2024 Collection was likely going to give off major Gossip Girl, sequin-inspired vibes, and it did not dissapoint. Ladies, this is a collection for sparkle, pizzazz, and all of that glittery jazz {during the holidays or all year through}.

Isley is an Inky Indigo Creme. Ugh! This color...absolute perfection. Isley is an Inky Indigo Creme that has 100% made me question why I don't have more navy polishes in my collection. It is utterly brilliant if you love a deep, vampy nail, but want something different than oxblood. The formula here was thin and slightly runny but easy to work with and just so incredibly glossy. I'm obsessed. This is 2 coats.

Axelle is a Cherry Red w/ Metallic Gold Shimmer. Is it even December if you're not donning a shimmery red for the season? Axelle is a Cherry Red w/ Metallic Gold Shimmer that literally brings Rudolph's bright red glowing nose to life. Babes, this formula is so incredible, I literally have no words. While I did have a tiny bit of tipwear towards the end of the 7 days that I wore Axelle, there was no chipping or peeling {which you sometimes see with shimmers}. This one is so decadent for the holidays. Grab. Her. Now. This is 2 coats.

Beckett is a Blackened Teal Creme. Rarely do I fall for a teal polish; but this one just feels so fitting for November. Beckett is a neon-infused Blackened Teal Creme with a formula that dreams are made of. This one is fully opaque in just one coat, with a staying power that will blow your mind. Though the shade is very rich and fall-apropos, that hint of neon makes it wearable for the warmer months, so it's ultra-versatile. Absolutely adoring this one! This is 1 coat.

Bowie is a Blurple Creme. Babes, I 100% did not expect to like this color, but omg it is utterly divine. Bowie is a bright Blurple Creme with the most decadent glossy finish that leaves behind a wet-look, patent leather feel that is so. incredibly. luxe. This shade is a showstopper {I couldn't stop looking at my nails for days} that is absolutely perfect for a fun, bright winter-inspired look; but would also work as a playful color for year-round. One of my 2024 faves! This is 2 coats.

Shayne is a Putty Gray w/ Holographic Glitter. Not sure why I thought this shade was metallic white in the bottle; but yeah, the actual color was a surprise. Shayne is a Putty Gray w/ Holographic Glitter that I'm simply not feeling. The gunmetal shade def gives off vampy holiday meets biker babe; but the color itself feels muddy to me, which is why I didn't love it. Formula was good - slightly thin and runny, but it builds quickly, and is fairly longlasting. This is 2 coats.

Billie is a Metallic Eggplant w/ Multitone Micro Shimmer. Blame it on the name; but yeah...this shade makes me think of Billie Eilish. Specifically, all of the songs from Hit Me Hard and Soft. Billie is a Metallic Eggplant w/ Multitone Micro Shimmer that has such an intense multidimensional vibe. Is it red? Is it blue? Is it purple? Babes, it's all of the above. The formula here was slightly thinner than expected, so it wanted to run into my cuticles a bit; but overall, it was phenom, with v little tipwear, and quite a few compliments. This is 2 coats.

Ooh Zoya you released one of my favorite polishes of the year just in time for New Year's!

Seren is a Royal Blue w/ Holographic Glitter and Shimmering Blue Microglitter that gives Elsa vibes and feels quintessential for the entire winter season, amiright? This shade had a phenomenal formula, building to opacity quickly, and surviving the entire week before Christmas in a kindergarten classroom with all of the holiday activities, and showing zero signs of chips or tipwear. Obsessed with this one!

Two coats of Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure. Nail Color in Light Lychee. Soft White Creme.

I love a good white nail moment, and this one is pretty perfect.

Light Lychee is a clean girl soft white creme that is fairly unique in the white polish realm in that it's not a stark white, but rather a softer white shade. This one applies beautifully; however, I do believe that applying 3 coats {as opposed to the 2 that you see here} would strengthen opacity and eliminate streakiness. Light Lychee is a stunning addition to your white polish collection - I've worn it 4 times already!

NOTD: ZOYA November 2024 Color of the Month Nail Lacquer in Wilson

Is it a pretty shade? Yes! Is it what I was expecting for the November color of the month? Negative.

Wilson is a blackberry purple holographic w/ rose gold microglitter that, ngl, feels more suited for October. Tbh I was hoping for a pumpkin spice creme for November to fit the Thanksgiving vibes; and while Wilson is lovely, it's just not giving November. Nevertheless, the formula is flawless to work with, and doesn't chip or show tipwear; so if you love a vampier touch for November, this one will give it to you.

ZOYA Everlasting Nail Polish Collection Swatches + Review

I did not know what to expect when I unboxed ZOYA's Everlasting Nail Polish Collection, but OMG I audibly gasped when I saw the shade range. This collection is perfection for autumn into winter, as it has a truly decadent mix of blush and greige to glitter and goth, offering a little slice of heaven to all nail polish connoisseurs.

Franny is a Blushed Beige Pink Creme. Hello gorgeous! Franny is a Blushed Beige Pink Creme that just made her way to the top of my ZOYA favorites list. This shade is absolutely stunning for year-round wear; but it feels especially fitting for the chilly winter months. This one was such a breeze to work with; and lasted for 6 days with zero tipwear or chips. A literal must haves for all of you beauties! This is 2 coats.

Ondine is an Aubergine Creme. NGL, this may be one of my new favorite shades for fall. Ondine is a rich Aubergine Creme that would be right at home paired with cognac riding boots and chunky cream sweaters. This shade is dark and decadent while remaining feminine at the very same time. I was worried that this one would stain; however, after 6 days of wear, it removed easily without a trace of staining. Highly recommend to anyone who loves vampy colors! This is 2 coats.

Henley is a Rosewood Creme. Hello loverrrr. Henley is a gorgeous Rosewood Creme that will capture the hearts of pink girlies and autumn lovers alike. This one has a beautiful purple-meets-greige undertone that enhances the fall feels, and makes it ideal for all of the cozy months. The formula here was some of the best ever. One coat garners you full opacity; and the polish lasted for 6 days with no chips or tipwear. Natch! Obsessed. This is 1 coat.

Annabelle is a Deep Wine Creme w/ Rose Gold, Pink, and Purple Holo Glitter. In the throes of a love/hate relationship with this bombshell. Annabelle is a deep wine creme w/ rose gold, pink, and purple holo glitter that is reminiscent of a starry night sky. That said, I have mixed feelings about her. I would have preferred shimmer over glitter, because the base color is so pretty, and I feel like the glitter detracts from that. Still a beautiful color with a fabulous formula, but not exactly my cup of tea. This is 1 coat.

Cosette is a Warm Rose w/ Pink and Purple Holo Glitter. Give me girly, but make it autumn-inspired. Cosette is a warm rose w/ pink and purple holo glitter that gives off the ultimate feminine vibes while managing to be ultra fall apropos at the very same time. Formula here was v easy to work with - it self-levels, and reaches opacitty quicker than I personally expected. If you love a neutral nail, but are looking for something a little more bubbly, this beauty ddef fits the bill. This is 2 coats.

Opal is a Sheer Whitened Pink w/ Rose Gold Glitter. Le sigh. This one is so pretty and enchanting. Opal is a Sheer Whitened Pink w/ Rose Gold Glitter that could easily work as a top coat, but is absolutely sensational worn on its own. This shade is ultra-feminine and charming, while fitting the winter motif perfectly. Formula was fabulous - it's fast dry and showed zero signs of chips or tipwear after five days of wearing. Highly recommend this one ladies! This is 2 coats.

This one is ultra-bright {far brighter than pictures reflect}, and dries down matte due to her neon qualities. I absolutely adore this beauty {she makes you look so tan}, and may have to classify her as one of my summertime faves for tips and toes.

This one is hyper-rich in pigmentation, so it literally needed one coat for full opacity {gotta love a OCW, amiright?!}. Tucker dries matte, but looks gorgeous glossy when you add a swipe of top coat. So many compliments on this one. Grab a bottle immediately ladies!

Popalicious is a romantic rose pink crelly that will appeal to my coquette girlies! This one is interesting because the formula is definitely crelly, so you could easily use a similar shaded shimmer to create a jelly sandwich, which would be so cute for summer. On its own, however, Popalicious is a pretty basic pink. The formula is good; but I'm kind of pinked out at the moment, so not super in love with it.

BOOK REVIEW: Powerless {The Powerless Trilogy, # 1} by Lauren Roberts

I didn't realize how much I needed this book until I found myself awake at 2:00am devouring the pages. Though characteristically similar to The Hunger Games, Lauren Roberts' Powerless is a billion times more. The characters are endearing, the trials and tribulations are captivating, and the romance is slow-paced and sweet as opposed to the continual smut that keeps repeating in literature nowadays. Though I'm only just now putting pen to paper to review this powerful tale, I have already read the accompanying novella, aptly titled Powerful {highly recommend}, and have Reckless queued up to read next. But for now, more about Powerless...

The kingdom of Ilya has room only for one kind within its walls: the extraordinary. Those who are powerful, entitled...Elite. Eighteen-year-old Paedyn 'Pae' Gray doesn't fall within that category. For the past five years {since the untimely murder of her father} Pae has resided in the slums, utterly powerless, yet pretending to be something more in order to preserve her life. You see, Paedyn is an Ordinary, and Ordinaries have no business within Ilya. In fact, Ordinaries were banished long ago; therefore, Paedyn is a felon. But she has survived. She has thrived {if thieving is something you call thriving} by playing the role of clairvoyant. People believe Paedyn is Psychic, so she is allowed to remain, stealing for survival. The clincher? Paedyn is no such thing. What Paedyn is, is observant. She can observe traits about you, and spin them seamlessly into something believable that sells her story, and protects her person; but she's about to enter a world where her powerlessness is unlikely to keep her safe.

Following the unexpected rescue of one Kai Azer, one of Ilya's princes {the one who will take on the role of Enforcer within the kingdom}, Paedyn finds herself selected as one of the players in the deadly Purging Trials. A brutal competition held yearly to showcase the powers of Ilya's Elites, the Purging Trials is known for the untimely violent deaths of contestants, leading to a morbid thrill for viewers. Kai himself will be a part of this years Trials, but he is armed with the rare, and highly powerful, ability of wielding - a power that allows him to borrow the power of any Elite within range, making him veritably indestructible in combat. Pae, on the other hand, will be entering the Trials powerless, requiring that she rely on her wits and strength to keep her safe in an arena where everyone is trying to kill her. But perhaps the greatest thing she has to lose isn't her life...it's the secret of her Ordinariness being exposed to the very boy she has developed feelings for. A boy who will kill her if he learns that she's not the Elite she has pretended to be.

This book y'all...I am gutted. The characters are positively phenomenal. Paedyn is a literal badass babe who has a sharp tongue and killer strength at her fingertips; but it's her loyalty that really makes her a standout. Her relationship with and protectiveness of her bff Adena {who is legit the sweetest character ever; and a seamstress with the Phasing ability to boot} is one of my favorite bits of the book; and even though we don't get a ton of Adena in Powerless, Powerful is all hers {bring tissues though}. While the future crown prince, Kitt did v little for me, Kai had me weak in the knees. It was at Chapter 45 that I officially learned what it meant to have a book boyfriend; because during that chapter I fell head over heels for none other than Kai Azer. He is perfect - aside from the fact that he's expected to be a cold-blooded, heartless killer. Details...

Yes, the romance is a slow burn, enemies to lovers, which some people may not enjoy; but I personally loved the slow-pacing of it, as it was sweet to see it build, and sweetness is something that far too many books are missing nowadays when it comes to romance {at least IMO}. This is one you absolutely must read - especially if you're looking for something to fill The Hunger Games void in your life, as the Trials are v reminiscent of the games in regards to brutality. But the relationship-building? That, my friends, is in a class of its own.

Vita is a deep pink w/ shimmering holo finish that is v reminiscent of bubbles laughing in champagne. This one is deep enough that it feels like it would seamlessly fit into your fall wardrobe; but the holo finish makes it feel just flirty enough for the summer months. If you're looking for a playful pink for vacay, you can't go wrong with this bad boy!

The temps were triple digits more often than not in my neck of the woods, and this stuff protected my lips like whoa! - we're talking zero burns and no chapping at all whatsoever. Def my new bestie {especially for beach days}!

e.l.f. Cosmetics Bronzing Drops in ROSE GOLD {$12.00}
I absolutely did not know how much glow these Bronzing Drops would add to my skin, but I was amazed that I didn't need to wear foundation whenever I used them {which is basically every day}. I run very fair, so I use the shade Rose Gold {there are 2 darker shades}, and it is perfect for giving me a natural sunkiss. Add it to your moisturizer then apply all over face. Chef's kiss.

I own this blush in 3 shades, but summer 2024 was all about the soft mauve known as Sleepy Girl. The formula on these cream blushes is phenomenal - it literally melts into your skin; and this shade, in particular, is literal chef's kiss. It adds a super natural, rich bronze tone to skin that makes you look subtly sunkissed. Who doesn't love that?

Ummmm...excuse me, is this the color of the summer? I think so.

Frankie is a neon watermelon red that legit feels as if summerwas bottled and marketed to the masses as a nail color - like ohmigosh it is that good. This shade dries down to a matte finish, so make sure you add that top coat because it draws out all this luscious shine and hints of pink to really add to the overall watermelon feel. One of my absolute faves for the warmer weather months!

Le sigh...this color is literally killing me.

Hyacinth is a cavity-inducing candy pink w/ holographic pink and white glitter that is ultra-cutie and so incredibly perfect for spring to summer {or anytime really because who doesn't love a good pink?!}. This one is gritty to the touch {think liquid sand}, but top coat gives it instant gloss and shine. Like with all glitters, Hyacinth took a bit of time to remove; but it was worth it because this mani lasted 7 days, and is just too pretty not to love!

BOOK REVIEW: House of Salt and Sorrows {Sisters of the Salt, # 1} by Erin A. Craig

I rarely have good luck with gothic romantasy/fantasy/horror what have you, but something about Erin A. Craig's House of Salt and Sorrows immediately intrigued me, so I hit purchase, and believe me when I say that it was one of the greatest book buying decisions I have ever made! Though described as a dark retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses, for me it felt far more akin to The Haunting of Hill House, what with the moments of sheer madness combined with the ghosts and isolated manor; and I, for one, loved it.

Eighteen-year-old Annaleigh Thaumus looks as though she leads a life of privilege from the outside looking in. After all, she resides in a luxurious manor known as Highmoor; is granted anything her heart desires by her wealthy father {though she doesn't ask for much}; and shares her days with a veritable harem of beautiful sisters. But look a little deeper...

Though once there were twelve sisters, tragedy claimed four far too soon; thus, now there are eight. With one young life being claimed after another, always under mysterious circumstances, the family has been placed in a state of continual mourning; and the townsfolk keep their distance from the daughters, regardless of how lovely they may be, due to their belief that the family has been cursed by the Gods. Then there's Annaleigh's stepmother, who is sick of mourning - desiring to wear color and gaze upon her beauty in mirrors; and so, mourning is forgotten, and Annaleigh descends into a spiral of madness. Or is it?

Without warning, sweet, sensitive Annaleigh begins experiencing vivid ghostly visions of her deceased sisters. Though each of their deaths was written off as mere accident, through these visions Annaleigh begins to suspect that the so-called accidents weren't accidents at all. And just as she begins digging a bit deeper into their deaths, her remaining sisters start embarking on evening adventures wherein they dance at lavish balls in sparkling gowns until the wee hours of the morning, returning each day with their slippers worn straight through. Where they are going, and who they are dancing with, Annaleigh can't be sure; but it's an added layer to the mystery already plaguing the Thaumus' - and if she can't solve it fast, more harm will inevitably come to her family.

I'm honestly so shocked that I haven't found a single comparison to The Haunting of Hill House because Annaleigh's character is so very vividly reminiscent of Victoria Pedretti's Eleanor Crain in the Netflix series; and the vibe of the book - from the isolated manor to the unsuspecting father to the overall moodiness...it all feels like an extension of the show. But I digress...

House of Salt and Sorrows was such a welcome surprise, and the most incredible book to read at the start of summer {though let me tell you, reading it in the midst of a snowstorm would be every bit as thrilling}. The cast of characters keeps you engaged from paragraph one. Annaleigh is a wonderful protagonist who seems reserved, but is very strong-willed and determined as the story progresses. Her love for her youngest sister, Verity {you will adore her!}, really illustrates how devoted she is to her family; while her relationship with the mysterious Cassius is sweet and endearing. Though the two have a slight romance, it never overshadows the haunting storyline; rather, it builds upon it, adding to the suspense courtesy of the puzzles surrounding his own family, and how they intertwine and overlap with Annaleigh's, and...well, I'll just leave it at that. I, personally, am downloading the sequel, House of Roots and Ruin, as we speak, as I'm not ready to say goodbye to the Thaumus family just yet.

This color y'all...ZOYA outdid themselves because it is per-fec-tion. You def need two coats with this beauty because one is super sheer; but just look how it builds! If you're looking to channel your inner mermaid you cannot be without this shade.

Brinkley is a Bright Raspberry Magenta Creme. Babes, I love this color so much, you have no idea. Is she pink? Is she purple? I don't even care - she is pure perfection! Brinkley is a bright raspberry magenta creme that gives all of the girly vibes! This beauty has a touch of blue undertone that almost makes it look like she has hidden shimmer; but, surprise, surprise, she doesn't! If you love a good hybrid shade this is the gorgeous you need in your life! This is 2 coats.

Georgie is a Strawberry Summer Red w/ Holo Glitter Finish. The strawberry vibes are strong with this one. Georgie is a strawberry summer red w/ holo glitter finish that gives all of the ripe strawberry vibes. Georgie gives off big-time crelly vibes, and would make for an incredible jelly sandwich - placing her over or between a shade like Alora or Loni. I am legit awestruck over how pretty this one is; and now I really want to wear her strawberry picking. True story.This is 2 coats.

Alora is a Red Creme w/ Deep Pink Undertones. Y'all this color as a transition from summer to fall is serving. Alora is a red creme w/ deep pink undertones that creates a bright cranberry-esque shade that is every bit at home paired with your itty bitty bikini or chunky sweaters. This one applies like a dream and is absolutely stunning to look at. Loving her for all of the seasons. This is 2 coats.

Yohanna is a Vibrant Knockout Pink Creme. Come on Barbie, let's go party... Had to. #sorrynotsorry. Yohanna is a vibrant knockout pink creme that will legit make you feel like a Barbie girl. Trust. Yohanna is a blue-toned pink that is blindingly bright and will leave you staring at your nails all. day. long. Formula here was amazing to work with {so on brand for ZOYA}; and if pink is your thing, you cannot pass this pretty up! This is 2 coats.

Loni is a Neon Salmon Coral Creme. When I tell you this shade makes me want to sing Harry Styles' Watermelon Sugar at the top of my lungs, I am not kidding. Loni is a neon salmon coral creme that gives juicy watermelon vibes and is just so playful for the summa-summa-summatime. This one is ultra-bright {far brighter than pictures reflect}, and dries down matte due to her neon qualities. I absolutely adore this beauty {she makes you look so tan}, and may have to classify her as one of my summertime faves for tips and toes. This is 2 coats.

Soraya is a Neon Fuchsia Grape Creme. Purple girlies y'all need this color for summer into fall! Soraya is a bright fuchsia grape creme that pulls pretty deep on me, which is why I pegged her as a summer to fall shade. This one is beautiful with a creamy finish that is simply lush. Soraya has red undertones which give her that grape feel; as well as a matte finish, so load up on that top coat! This is 2 coats.

I do love a good yellow, and Taji is bringing it!

Taji is a vibrant lemon yellow creme that is bright enough for your summer excursions, but would fit seamlessly with your fall fashions. This one is slightly darker IRL {think egg-yolk yellow} but is so intense and fun. If you don't have a yellow in your collection, I highly recommend grabbing this gorgeous girl!

BOOK REVIEW: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

"If you want to live where people are not afraid of mice, you must give up living in palaces."
My greatest regret when it comes to E. Lockhart's We Were Liars is that I didn't read it sooner. This is a book that is quintessential summer, thus quintessential summer reading. It is a book reminiscent of bare feet perched on boat railings, tanned legs tucked into cutoff denim shorts, bikini tops and beach cruisers. A book that will haunt you long after the final pages are turned. A book that I can tell you very little about for fear of ruining even a semblance of the suspense that lies within.

The Liars are beautiful - clever, rich {aside from Gat}, intelligent; by all means, they are a group destined for greatness. There is seventeen-year-old Cadence 'Cady' Sinclair Eastman, her cousins Mirren Sinclair Shefffield and Johnny Sinclair Dennis, and Gatwick 'Gat' Matthew Patil {the latter being a very close friend of the family, and the apple of Cady's eye}. Each summer, the Liars join their families at Beechwood, a private island in Massachusetts, a mere stone's throw from Martha's Vineyard, owned by the Sinclair patriarch, Harris. And each summer they indulge by doing...little. Lazing about, swimming, going to dinner, falling in love, and keeping their secrets protected. Because, as would be expected with a family as affluent as the Sinclair's, secrets are part of the territory. But the Liars aren't the only ones harboring them.

You see, the Liars didn't earn their nickname from truthtelling. The Liars earned their moniker from doing things that they may or may not be proud of; some with serious repercussions. But the so-called adults on the island? They really aren't much better. Harris seems quite content watching his three daughters bicker over who will {or will not} inherit mansions, money, and heirlooms; while the daughters in question {Penny, Bess, and Carrie} play into his game while proffering up their children in a dance of manipulation executed in an attempt to inherit what they all feel they deserve. As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for.

We Were Liars is not your carefree, nonchalant work of summer fiction. It is a psychological thriller rife with plot twists that you won't see coming. It's a thriller told in a topsy turvy way that will grip you by the edge of your seat, sending unsuspecting chills up and down your spine even as you lazily dangle your legs over the arm of a lounge chair, further enraptured by each passing page. E. Lockhart has written a literal masterpiece with this unputdownable summer gem, and I, for one, cannot wait to see how she follows it up with the prequel, Family of Liars.

Marisol is a bold turquoise blue creme that is, quite possibly, one of my favorite blue turquoise shades of all time - I mean, just look at that brightness...I literally cannot get over it! Formula here is so good. This one literally dries in seconds, and has such intense opacity, I can't. Truly one of the best vacay shades ever!
