Last month I reviewed / swatched Part 1 of the Ciaté Mini Mani Month Set; and today I am covering Part 2, which includes 4 creme colors; 1 sheer shade; and 3 nail effects. The colors in this installment have a little something for every taste - whether you prefer brights or neutrals; and includes one of my completely unexpected favorite color/effects combos to date {I think you'll like it too}.
Candy Floss {Day 9} + Caviar Pearls Cupids Arrow {Day 23}
Candy Floss is a Bubblegum Pink Creme. I've been swatching so many pink shades lately that I feel like I'm pinked out. That said, I'm a big fan of Candy Floss. It reminds me a bit of Essie's Cascade Cool in that, in shade, subtle lavender undertones show up. The formula here was good. With a heavy hand, this could probably be a one coater. This is 2 coats.
Caviar Pearls Cupids Arrow is one of the Effects Paint Pots, consisting of Lilac, Rose, and Mauve Pearls. Out of all of the Caviar Pearl combos featured in this set I was most excited for this one; but...they weren't crazy about me. Translation? They started falling off almost immediately after application {even with top coat}, something that didn't occur with the other caviar pearls I used from this set. In hindsight, I realize that I didn't push them down onto the nail before applying top coat, so that's my error. Let that be a lesson: Pour them onto the nail; push them down firmly; then apply top coat.
Pillow Fight {Day 10}
Pillow Fight is a Delicate Gray with Lilac Undertones. In the bottle, the shade looks far darker than it appears on the nail; which was a happy surprise, as pale grays are my preference. The first coat is streaky; but the color and opacity completely level out after the second coat is applied. In sunlight you will definitely see the presence of the lilac undertones, which add a little more dimension to the shade, and make it even more beautiful to look at. Really love this one! This is 2 coats.
Pepperminty {Day 11} + Glitter Twinkle Toes {Day 15}
Pepperminty is a Dusty Mint / Seafoam Creme. I've said it time and time again...mint is, and forever will be, my favorite nail color. Pepperminty is no exception. While dustier and less bright than Essie's Mint Candy Apple; Pepperminty actually has a better formula. Mint Candy Apple is prone to streakiness when applying; Pepperminty isn't - such a rarity for a pastel. This is 2 coats.
Glitter Twinkle Toes is Loose Silver Glitter. The minute I saw this Effects Paint Pot I knew I would be pairing it with Pepperminty because I love a silver accent nail to complement a mint mani. As mentioned, this is loose glitter - you simply pour it over the nail after applying your desired polish shade, level, and apply top coat. This one is super sparkly {sadly not discernible in these pictures as the weather was overcast when I took them}; and would literally look gorgeous paired with any nail color. The downside? It's glitter, so it is insanely messy {as in, I wound up with glitter on my face, clothes...}; but, the prettiness more than makes up for it.
Caviar Pearls Metallic Gold {Day 12} + Members Only {Day 17}
Members Only is a Sheer Peachy / Nude Shimmer. Remember the unexpected favorite combo I mentioned? This is it. I'm not usually a fan of shades like this; but the subtle shimmer makes Members Only a sophisticated shade with a playful kick. The formula is fantastic - non-streaky, easy to work with, and completely buildable. If you have short nails, you can reach opacity in 3 coats; I have longer nails so it took me more. This is 5 coats.
Caviar Pearls Metallic Gold is a mini paint pot of caviar pearls in Yellow Gold. I hemmed and hawed over what shade to pair these with because, while a metallic, they are very yellow gold, and don't look great with every color. I do, however, love how they paired with Members Only. Like most caviar pearls effects, these aren't super long-lasting; but they are gorgeous for a special event. One thing to mention that I found slightly odd...when I was using top coat on these, the yellow gold color transferred to the brush, and removed some of the pigmentation from the gold pearls - dulling/tarnishing the color in spots. It's not something you would notice unless you were up close to the nail; but definitely worth mentioning.
Encore! {Day 13}
Encore! is a Burnt Orange. If you don't love a bright orange nail color {so hard to pull off sometimes}, Encore! is the perfect compromise. It's a warmer, burnt orange hue with rust undertones. This shade, to me, is the perfect representation of fall; and would be so stunning for Thanksgiving gatherings {yes, I am planning Thanksgiving manis in March}. Out of all of the Ciaté nail colors I have tried over the past two months, Encore! has had the best formula. It's thick, rich, and fully opaque in one coat.This is 1 coat.
Which one is your favorite?
