Essie Spring 2016 4PC Mini Set Swatches + Review

Aside from the semi-disastrous Cashmere Matte Brights collection from 2015, I have never met an Essie spring or summer collection that I haven't loved. Due to an underwhelming assortment of colors for 2016, however, I hemmed and hawed quite a bit before taking the plunge and buying the Spring 2016 4PC Mini Set. In the end, I'm actually really happy that I scooped up this quartet, as it offers a little something something for everyone {whether you prefer bold or muted}. Admittedly, I do wish there were a bit more color variation; but what is offered is nice for spring, summer, and beyond, so I'm not complaining. Onto the swatches!

Off Tropic is a Grove Green Creme. Palm frond green for spring? Groundbreaking. Here's why: the state of Florida is the inspo behind this collection; so while Off Tropic may feel too fall to fit in here, it's actually a brilliant inclusion. And I'm not just saying that because I, personally, love it. Off Tropic is every bit as lush as the foliage found in Miami Beach, with a killer formula that reaches opacity in a single swipe. One ish I encountered: it will flood your cuticles if given the opportunity, so wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe that brush on the lip of the bottle well before applying directly to the nail. This is 1 coat.

Sunshine State Of Mind is a Blood Orange Coral Creme. If you're a red-loving gal looking for a summer mani update then Sunshine State of Mind has your name written all over it. The blood orange-meets-coral coloring is blazing enough for summer; yet has a muted look that keeps it just as on trend for spring. Formula here is flawless - and when I say that, I mean it practically paints itself. This is 2 coats.

Lounge Lover is a Peachy Pink Creme. If I'm honest, I have to tell you... Lounge Lover is a nail color that we have seen in virtually every spring/summer polish collection over the past five years {in fact, it's nearly identical to Peach Side Babe from the Summer 2015 collection}, so original it is not; it is, however, quite pretty to look at - and pure perfection for the sizzling months. Formula here is fabulush! Smooth, self-leveling, opaque...you get the picture. This is 2 coats.

High Class Affair is a Blush Apricot Nude Creme. High Class Affair is v similar to Perennial Chic from the Spring 2015 collection; but while I loved Perennial Chic, I simply wasn't feeling High Class Affair - it felt a bit mannequin hands to me {and not in a good way}. Nevertheless, it had one of the best formulas I have ever experienced with a nude - non-streaking and quick to build to opacity. This is 2 coats.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Rhapsody Red

Two coats of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Rhapsody Red. Cherry Red Creme.

Yowza! Now that's what I call a killer red.

This is the other polish I received in my Christmas Swap Box from Couture Carrie, and I gotta tell you, I'm glad I waited until now to try it out because it is perfect for summer!

Rhapsody Red, while classic has a brightness to it that makes it feel playful and flirty. Though slightly thick, the formula is overall flawless, and applies perfectly in two easy coats. I think I have a new favorite red in my life!

Whoever thought that ‘Big Box Store’ and ‘Fashion’ could be mentioned in the same sentence without an ounce of sarcasm? NOTD: Ciaté Mini Paint Pot Nail Polish in Prima Ballerina

Two coats of Ciaté Mini Paint Pot Nail Polish in Prima Ballerina. Mushroom Creme.

I've been going through a gray phase in terms of my polish selections as of late, so I had to try Prima Ballerina when I found it in my stash. And yes, the fact that it featured one of the greatest names in polish history coupled with the concrete color totally clinched the deal!

Prima Ballerina isn't your typical gray creme - the olive / khaki undertones give it a bit more life, and make it gorgeously wearable year-round.

Formula was flawless; though the finish isn't as glossy as other shades in the Ciaté range, so you definitely need to double up on top coat!

1. off the shoulders If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I wear a lot of tops that fall off one shoulder due to my affinity for effortless drape, but currently I'm obsessing over true off the shoulder tops that expose both shoulders and feel ridiculously carefree and fun for the warmer months. My top faves at the moment? Susana Monaco's Drapey Off the Shoulder Top in VISTA, and Forever 21's Embroidered Crop Top in MUSTARD/WHITE.

2. beach tint I live for BECCA's Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector® Pressed in CHAMPAGNE POP {seriously, I never leave the house without it}, so I am dying to try BECCA's beach tint collection as it gives you that dewy, sunkissed glow we all crave for summer. My must-try picks: Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé in PAPAYA/TOPAZ, Beach Tint Lip Shimmer Soufflé in PAPAYA/TOPAZ, Beach Tint in GUAVA, and Beach Tint Lip Shimmer Soufflé in WATERMELON/OPAL.

3. fringe benefits I always get fringe fever when festival season rolls around, and right now I am all about the footwear - I love the swish of fringe with every step you take, it just feels so flirty, amiright? On my radar is Sole Society's DELILAH Fringe Heeled Sandal in TAUPE {goes with everything}, and PAPRIKA {so fun for summer!}.

4. layered necklaces Layered necklaces are a total non-negotiable in my summer accessory arsenal. The reason? They look amaze on the beach paired with itty bitty bikinis, and totally take the guesswork out of nailing the perfect neck party. The two bits currently on my mind? BaubleBar's Exotica Layered Necklace, and Polly Layered Pendant. Stunning, aren't they? I know!

Orly Melrose 4PC Mini Kit Swatches + Review

While binge-buying spring and summer nail collections a few weeks back, I absolutely could not pass up Orly's Melrose 4PC Mini Kit. As a SoCal gal, the shade range just oozed walking in LA, palm tree, toes in the sand vibes {so apropos given the collection name}, and felt like such a necessary purchase. Bottom line: I dug the entire quartet, and am pretty confident you will too. Swatch time!

Window Shopping is a Blazing Magenta Creme. How fun is the name of this shade? It makes me think of day trips to Rodeo Drive. And the color itself? Lush! I plan on using Window Shopping as a pedi shade when the weather warms up; but for now, it's stunning on the tips. The berry undertones make it ultra-versatile across seasons; while the nearly-neon satin finish is straight-up posh! To give it a glossy look you def need to add top coat, which also works to brighten the shade. This was a surprise favorite for me, and my top pick from the quartet. This is 1 1/2 coats.

Feel The Funk is a Lilac Shimmer with Scattered Holographic Glitter. Ermagersh ladies this color is killing me! It just oozes thoughts of unicorns and rainbows and magic, amiright?! Feel The Funk applies semi-sheer, but builds to opacity lightning fast, making it a total breeze to work with! This is 2 coats.

Hip & Outlandish is an Electric Teal Creme. Shades like this make me go ooh - especially during the summer months; and what you're seeing isn't nearly as vibrant as it appears IRL, because Hip & Outlandish is a true prob to photograph. Nevertheless, it's one of my fave shades from this quartet, and a true stunner to work with. Like Window Shopping, Hip & Outlandish dries down to a dark, satin finish, so load up on the top coat to give it a glossy look. This is 2 coats.

Trendy is a Crystal-Flecked Neon Peach. Ladies, I am in complete and total L-O-V-E with this shade because it makes me look hella tan, and is the most perfect nod to summa summa summatime; but OMG it legit refuses to be photographed! Though Trendy looks, overall, like an eye-searing peach, in certain lights the crystal flecks are visible, giving it an extra kick of dimension. Formula here is not bad; though slightly patchy, it reaches opacity and levels nicely. Oddly enough, this one has a slightly textured finish, but a touch of top coat counteracts that. This is 2 1/2 coats.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Game of Chromes

Two coats of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Game of Chromes. Molten Chrome.

You may remember this being one of the polishes in the Christmas Swap Box I received from my fave Couture Carrie. While I received this waaaaay back in December, I only just now got around to trying it out {so many polishes, so little time}, and all I can say is what took me so long?

Seriously you guys, I. Am. In. Love.

Game of Chromes, aside from having an epic name, is such a killer shade. It's constructed of hundreds of thousands of gold and silver particles that truly bubble majestically on the nail.

Formula here is flawless. Perfect density, perfect texture, no streaks, and brilliant opacity in moments. Get it girls!
