All About Alicia

As much as you’d like to pretend that you don’t know them, I’m sure you’ve met plenty in the past. Don’t play games with me now, you’re quite aware of who I’m referring to, loves; the name-callers who shouted out put-downs to those who were forced to wear eyeglasses. The…let’s put it all out on the table…adolescent meanies who exclaimed nasty comments pertaining to being “four-eyed.” It was enough to drive someone to extreme measures, like purposely crushing the bearish item creating such heartbreak in our social lives to smithereens. Tell me though, who’s having the last laugh now?

Glasses, prescription glasses or otherwise, are now a fashionable bit that, suffice it to say, are a can’t-leave-home-without accessory which give you the ability to change up your look or personality with very limited work. You can go geek with Marvin; retro with Masyn; vintage with Eisenhower; or, if you’re truly daring, seductive with Alicia. Ah yes, Alicia…

The eyeglass frames that I find most…teasing, as of late, are of the playful, kitten-esque variety; Alicia embodies this description to a T. Don’t worry darlings, I won’t bore you with tales of her grinning cat eyes that slant ever so slightly in the sauciest of ways, or stifle you with stories of her maudlin escapades about town with a bevy of cute boys. No, the best thing for me to do at this very moment is leave you to your own devices; to allow you to give the stunning mauve siren a life all her own.

Perhaps Joan, Mad Men’s office seductress, will pop up at a party, a colorful cocktail in one hand, Alicia pinched between her perfectly manicured fingers. Or will Alicia arrive at a beatnik poetry reading in the Village, the only pop of color to an all-black ensemble? Even better, could she find herself the apple of a fashion editor’s eye? You. Tell. Me. What plans do you have for the alluring Alicia? One word of advice, kittens…don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!

Fashionably yours!

Those glasses are so cute - they actually are very similar to my glasses (that I only wear @ night) from Vogue. Mine are a bit deeper red, cute cute!

haha, do I know what you're talking about or what. I wear glasses but contacts the second I step out. I have a high number. recently, I've been having some kind of infection. so I can't wear contacts. I literally go out less since 2 weeks. Just another week to go:P
Though those ones, are seductive.

Love them- I wear contacts and am on occasion "forced" to wear a few pairs of glasses. Love the color, they'd go so well with some of my outfits... Hmmm....

Oh dear, brings back memories of the big pink plastic glasses I chose about 3 seconds before I entered puberty and which I then had to wear throughout my early teens. Mortifying. Now I love specs of course and have a pair of yummy vintage Chanels which I adore. Boo, down with the haters.

I think that certain shapes and styles of eyeglasses end up looking truly marvelous and add such an oomph to many outfits!

These glasses look great! I don't wear prescription glasses or contacts. It's fun to try out glasses without prescription lenses though. I actually bought a pair of hot pink glasses from Urban Outfitters after you featured them in a post. I love them! Glasses are definitely a nice way to change up your overall look.

Mine is similar to that as well. Just a deeper red and more squarish.

I actually think some people look better in glasses than without. If you find the perfect pair, it can give you a completely different/chic look. I don't need eyeglasses, so I've never tried any out... which is probably better, as I'd start a new obsession ;-)

Great post. I got glasses in 6th grade and was completely mortified to wear them to school. Most people actually told me I look better with glasses because I have weird shaped eyes. I guess that was better than "four eyes" remarks.

Everyone in my family wears glasses but me, and when I was younger I used to wish one day I would fail the eyetest at school so I could wear them too. Ha ha, I just got a flashback of those days.

I used to hate wearing glasses, so I switched to contacts as soon as I could. But my glasses have grown on me. I haven't bought a new pair in ages, I'm definitely due one, adn these look perfect!

I adore these frames! I would absolutely get a pair with fake lenses, my friends do that all the time but I've never been brave enough! :D

I don't I will ever embrace the glasses trend after being forced to wear them all through elementary school. I love my contacts...

These are cute, though!
