Sock It to Me

I've been selfish, kittens; so very, very selfish. All this time I have thought of nothing but clothing myself, and ensuring that I was warm when the weather turned brisk; but I was neglecting someone, something, very close to me. My wee iPod, an electronic that is more akin to a lifelong best friend than a mere technological invention, has endured bumps and bruises, scrapes and scuffles, even stomps and sideswipes. But, above all, my teeny music mogul has had to brave countless harsh winters with nary a blanket to keep her warm or stylish. In this fashion, as an early gift to commemorate our many years together, I have decided to bestow my tiny trinket with...iPod Socks.

I already know what you’re thinking. The wheels are churning in that pretty little head of yours, commenting on the ridiculousness of this item; but I must defend myself here, and point out that this is anything but a frivolous purchase, mind you. This is a necessity of utmost importance. You are not simply clothing your iPod by slipping her into a pair of vibrantly colored socks; but ensuring her safety as the material acts as a buffer, a guardian angel, of sorts, from the cruel and dangerous outside world.

Guilelessly slide your petite photoelectronic device into the knit sock for safe-keeping, the same way you would glide your own meticulously manicured foot into a pair of Wolford tights. When a playlist change is called for, or a docking is required, easily pop her out of her cushy humble abode, and work your way through the task at hand before returning her to her chichi crash pad. Oui, the iPod Socks are to your mini mechanism what the high-rise Park Avenue penthouse I aspire to someday reside in is to me – a swank shelter not for the feint of heart.

But I digress, I suppose I should drop the theatrics – or at least tone it down. Don’t be fooled, your iPod isn’t the only one who will benefit from this accessory – you will too. Yes, to be completely honest, I’m guilty of another count of selfishness. I assume that it’s time to divulge the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. My little iPod is with me 24/7…and she sticks out like a sore thumb. Thus, by investing in Apple’s iPod Socks, I’ll be ensuring a constant color-coordinated companion, as a single set lodges six socks in the requisite shades needed to spice up any ensemble – gray, blue, pink, orange, green, and purple.

Forgive me, darlings, no harm was meant from my amore propre; just a desire to add a creative, colorful, cozy kick to my adored accessory. To be truthful, who knew you could have so much fashion fun at the Apple store? Now go ahead…sock it to your iPod!

Fashionably yours!

Thanks to Apple for the pictures.

Those are so cute! My iPod is just in a lame, hard plastic case. Haha! But it works!

Ooh I love these! I bought these 3 years ago when I had my iPod nano. They are great, but not practical for the iPhone! :)

Oh, back when I got my very first iPod (the 3rd generation) I got equally obsessed with buying all sorts of iPod accessories. When I got a new one, I became even more obsessed, because there was no way I wanted even a single fingerprint on it. I was seriously considering these socks, but ended up getting a very thin clear case instead. I still think these are cute, but friends of mine have them and they get dirty too easily for my liking.

These are cute and I love the color combos! I wonder though about protection- I think I'd prefer a harder case.

For a while I used a magnetic case, which in retrospect I have no idea what I was thinking. It had a magnet in it!

Now I use an iPhone case for my iTouch.

awe, little socks for iPods! Mine is in a SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS ONE (hell yeah) but it doesn't really fit, as the sock was meant for a phone.. Think i may buy the little yellow one....

I have one of these in orange (because my friend had a bunch and it was her least favorite color) and I love it! It's great because it's bright and hard to lose :-)
