Tightwad Tuesday: J. Crew Linen-Silk City Pant for Less

One does not need a glass of sparkling wine, or champagne bubbling with effervescence to exude shimmering confidence and flirty flair. The aforementioned beverages, while the perfect accessory to our coquettish, fun-loving behavior, do not make us the beguiling beauties that we are; non, that honor is attributed to our ensembles. Therefore, it is up to us to ensure that we are draped in decadence, no matter the situation we find ourselves in. And nothing says exaggerated excellence better than a pair of boudoir-inspired legwear that easily transforms from daytime delicacy to evening elegance.

Finding such accoutrement is not the simplest of tasks, however. To locate a piece that cascades over your form in a fashion that is model-esque rather than reminiscent of M.C. Hammer in the throes of his Can’t Touch This days involves devotion and hours upon hours of searching long and hard; all in the name of style, to be sure. But don’t worry darlings; your search is already over. J. Crew is here to save the day with their Linen-Silk City Pant, a form of dernier cri I have come to associate with the epitome of splendor.

Neither harem pant nor capri, tapered nor bootcut, the Linen-Silk City Pant is in a class all it’s own. It brings the elements we adore about innuendo-laden lingerie from the bedroom to the sidewalk in a manner that is polished and precocious with a pinch of daring diaphaneity not often seen in tender trousers crafted with the female in mind.

The elasticity around the ankles and drawstring surrounding the waist make it a cinch to find the fit that suits you – be it slouchy and serene or more form-fitting and feminine – but it is the rumpled creases purposely placed sporadically about the linen/silk blend materials which creates the versatility needed to pair them with a plain white tee for a walk in the park, or a tantalizing tube top for a chichi cocktail party.

But alas, all the fabulousness aside, they’re slightly out of my budget. I pride myself on the fact that I have yet to spend a penny over $35.00 for a singular pair of pants; indulging in these beauties, with a pricetag of $98.00, would only make me feel guilty and narcissistic. That does not mean that I will be depriving myself of such a seductive style. I just plan on doing so in a more wallet-friendly way.

While ebony in hue, at $29.90, Fleurish’s Satin Harem Pant possess the same type of teasing je ne sais quoi of J. Crew’s cobblestone-colored marvels at a price more possible for my slim budget. And that, mes chéris, is something I find simply irresistible.

Which role have you decided to undertake on this terrific Tuesday, kittens? Tightwad or spendthrift?

Fashionably yours!

Thanks to J. Crew and Alloy for the pictures.

Hmmmm. I'm not a fan a harem pants, and these pants kind of look like glam scrubs to me - but that's just me. You know I love you! =)

Love the idea of this pant but I think the wrinkly-ness would bother me! I don't iron also, lol

I don't know if I'm brave enough to wear pants like this. If I did, I think I actually might splurge. I love the J. Crew pair!

These pants look perfect for some comfy-but-chic travel clothes. I spend a lot of time on trains going back and forth visiting family, and it's nice to do so without looking like a schlump.

Great post. I'm really tempted by the Satin Harem pant. I like it a lot...and a pretty good price!

I hate spending too much on pants as well! I always try to be under $30, otherwise I feel guilty! I just don't like spending that much money on one piece of clothing! I love how you found a cheaper version! As always you found a great deal!

Well, I don't really like harem pants but I love the shoes on the first picture!

They're both cute. I do prefer the cheaper option this week though. I like that colour much better and the price is so much better as well.

*sigh* those black satin pants are the bottom half of my dream jumpsuit (yes I said jumpsuit, I love the way they look)
now if you could just attach a black satin v-neck halter onto that I'd be all over it.

I will have to say I love the first pair the most that color is just divine. :) I have to agree with my brother Keith (Dino Lounge) around here I have not seen anybody wear these yet.

While my frame will not allow me to wear this kind of pants, I'd have to go with the cheaper version. They look more lux.

Thanks for this wonderful advice! It would be nice to find pants suitable for any occasion. I am not very fond of that elastic at the bottom...
The M.C. Hammer part made me laugh. ;)

I LOVE these pants! I've never thought that I could pull off harem pants, but these are inspiring me.

As for the city...some cheap places to eat are 'wichcraft...which are found all over, but especially at Bryant Park and they're really good sandwiches =) Boyd Thai in Greenwich Village is really, really yummy Thai food (obviously) and it's not too expensive. I also like the Metro Diner...it's on Broadway, more Midtown. The food is delicious, but especially breakfast! And it's a really fun atmosphere. EL Cocotero is super, super yummy Venezuelan food... which is also Midtown... my parents aren't big fans of it though because they say that everything is too close together (they smush in a lot of tables), but I think the food is really yummy. Haha you should probably email me for more suggestions and stuff - this is so long, I'm sorry! My email address is allison_ladolcevita@yahoo.com
I'll talk to you soon, girl!

I would go with the J. Crew pair here... hard to tell from the pictures, but the cheaper version looks a little like gym pants to me. The horror, the horror... I think it's the thin drawstring that ruins it for me!

And now I got "Can't Touch This" stuck in my head...

I think these would look really weird on me. I don't think it's something I could pull off. However, I love the J. Crew pair. They look very chic. I think they'd be perfect with a great pair of heels!

I have a 10 minute DIY version of this style pants on my blog Idiosyncratic Style. See under Recycled Style Project: Harem Pants, this way you can test drive the pants before spending any cash on them.

I want not concur on it. I assume nice post. Especially the title-deed attracted me to be familiar with the whole story.
