before you self-tan...polish {amala detoxifying body polish review}

My natural skintone is, literally, a mere shade darker than
that of a pasty vampires - an issue I encounter every. single. summer.
when I begin pulling out my bikinis, crop tops, and cutoff
denim shorts
{my warm weather style staples}.

This year, in an effort to achieve that Brazilian-bombshell-
Victoria's-Secret-supermodel-glow
, I have begun the process of
self-tanning with the assistance of Banana Boat Sunless Summer
Color
{P.S. It really works - I highly recommend}; but, as
I've only just recently learned, before you self-tan, you need to
shoo-away dead skin cells to create an even tan {who knew?}.

Just as I discovered this, Amala's Detoxifying Body Polish
arrived in the mail {amazing timing, yes?}.
I have incredibly sensitive skin, and a ridiculous amount of
allergies, so I'm always wary about using new products {my go-to is
Neutrogena everything}; but I felt more confident in trying
it out due to the fact that Amala products
are completely natural / organic, and the Amala philosophy
{created by Founder Ute Leube} is "When it comes to skincare,
you shouldn’t have to sacrifice results for responsibility.”

For the past week now I have been using the Detoxifying Body Polish.
I apply it from head-to-toe in the shower every other day;
then, after two or three scrubs, I apply my self-tanner.

The difference of using the self-tanner without the body polish
and with
is itchiness. As I said, I have sensitive skin,
so when I applied the self-tanner without first using the
Detoxifying Body Polish I found that my skin felt subtly
itchy {almost as if there were a few wayward ants
crawling on me}.

In contrast, when I applied the self-tanner
after a week of using the Detoxifying Body Polish, I didn't
experience that feeling - the polish soothed my skin, and made application
a far more comfortable experience.

Long story short? This is definitely a new
summer skin must for me.

Also pertinent... the rustic packaging of the product is
so incredibly charming - and perfectly plays up the
natural / organic vibe of the line.

Hey we're the same shade of pale! I never even bother with self tanner because every one I tried in high school turned me orange or smelly. Of course, it was ten years ago so I'm sure the formulas have changed.

And bathing suits just look better with a tan don't they?

I'll remember to exfoliate first!
