Jenna Hipp New Candies 8-pc Mini Nail Polish Set Swatches + Review

No matter what store I'm in, I will manage to sniff out nail polish. Case in point: Costco. A few weeks ago I was stocking up on essentials, when I spotted the Jenna Hipp New Candies 8-pc Mini Nail Polish Set on an end cap. Given the fact that I had never tried Jenna Hipp before, and it was on sale for $7.99 {practically free!}, I had to grab it. And you know what? It's kind of amazing - as in quality, colors, formula {these are five free} and, of course, price. Check out my thoughts on all 8 of the shades below!

Thin Mint is a Vibrant Mint Creme. No nail polish collection is complete without a minty hue, and Thin Mint fulfills that requirement to. a. T. The formula is so incredible here - it doesn't have the streaky / patchy issues that some mint shades have; plus, the brightened effect of the color makes it feel pool perfect. This is 2 coats.

Violet Éclair is a Bright Violet with Iridescent Blue Shimmer. Purple may be a fall color, but Violet Éclair feels seriously fresh for summer given that yummy iridescent blue shimmer. I found the formula here to be v thin on the first coat {especially around the nail tips}; however, it did build to opacity once I applied a second coat. If you want the shade to be more intense, you may consider a third. This is 2 coats.

Marshmallow Fondant is a Butter Yellow Creme. I lovelovelove this color! I am on such a pale yellow polish kick lately, and Marshmallow Fondant made me adore it even more. Being a lighter shade, I did find that this one had a slightly milky formula that resulted in a bit of streakiness; but, it did level out with a few coats with little trouble. This is 3 coats.

American Pie is a Navy Blue Creme. Doesn't the color make you think of blueberry pie and the 4th of July?! Though baby blues are like my polish besties, I rarely wear navies; thus, American Pie is a total game-changer because...swoon! This is, unquestionably, one of my favorite shades from the collection - the high-shine finish, the opacity, the fact that it doesn't stain! This is 2 coats.

Rose Tart is a Fuchsia Creme. Rose Tart is blindingly bright in a saturated, jewel-tone kind of way - the color definitely leans fall berry {it's deeper and darker IRL}. The formula and pigmentation on this is just phenomenal. I think this would make a fab pedi shade! This is 2 coats.

Crème de Cantaloupe is a Orange Creme. Orange polish really only hits my mani radar around Halloween; but the peachy undertones of this one make it super wearable - and absolutely perfect if you love bright polishes. Crème de Cantaloupe {tell me you're as obsessed with the name as I am!} goes on beautifully, and has one of the creamiest formulas of this collection. Really, really love this one! This is 2 coats.

Trés Parfait is a Lavender Creme. This color was one of my primary reasons for purchasing this collection; and while it is absolutely gorgeous, it is completely different than what I was expecting. I thought it would be a Victorian rose / mauve pink, and it was actually...lavender. Again, super pretty, but not what I was expecting. Formula, however, was fab; though it did slightly wrinkle/bubble on my middle finger. This is 2 coats.

Pink Lady Finger is a Bright Pink Creme. I'm not huge on pink polishes, but this one is so, so, so incredibly cute, and perfect for summer! Pink Lady Finger actually borders on neon, so it dries to a semi-matte finish {you definitely need top coat if you want the shine you see here}. The formula is brilliant on this one - super creamy, self-leveling, and lush; while the color v bright, playful, and fun-loving {i.e. necessary for beachy vacays}. This is 2 coats.
