{glossies made me do it} candy-cane dipped oreos

For 2017 I am super excited to announce that I will be partnering with Lauren of Shooting Stars Mag and Ashley of Happy. Pretty. Sweet. for a new monthly series called Glossies Made Me Do It wherein each one of us selects something {a recipe, a book, a hairstyle...} from a monthly magazine {glossy}, and try it for ourselves {made me do it}. Lauren came up with the idea, and Ashley and I gladly signed on, and here we are at the inception! Visit both Lauren and Ashley today to see what glossies made them do; and check out mine below!

For my first feature, I decided to go the recipe route, making a batch of Candy-Cane Dipped Oreos inspired by the article Your Cheat Sheet To...Making Delish Presents, which can be found on newsstands now in the December 2016 / January 2017 issue of Seventeen magazine.

I selected this particular project because it looked fab for winter festivities and was no-bake {a must for me as I have a tendency to set things on fire in the kitchen}. You can see my results above - they're, perhaps, not as pretty as the picture that inspired them, but ermagersh were they yum!

While these, essentially, were a basic OREO cookie {I used the Winter OREO Cookies with Red Creme}, the inclusion of the melted Hershey's Candy Cane Kisses added so much extra flavor, making them taste like those Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. And the crushed Candy Cane topping made them that much prettier!

My one qualm? The ratios in the recipe are incredibly misleading. The recipe states that one 10 oz. bag of Hershey's Candy Cane Kisses yields 36 cookies, but that's impossible. I used half a bag of kisses and could barely coat 8 cookies. And the coating you do see isn't nearly as thick as that seen on the cookies in the magazine. Regardless, they look pretty-ish and are seriously scrummy, so I'm not complaining; but if you do decide to try this one out for yourself, be prepared to buy more Kisses than the recipe actually calls for.

But what a fun challenge haha, love it! When I do read glossy magazines and notes a fun recipe/diy I never end up doing them haha. So this is great! Have a darling weekend babe! Xx

I love those Thin Mint cookies, so this looks very yummy. Thanks for the note on the ratio though; sometimes those can be WAY off. :)

Those cookies look scrumptious! It's good to know that the ratio is off because I'm very tempted to make these :)
