knomo London’s Aurora: The New Royal of Your Accessory Collection

Aurora is a name that I have always associated with the flaxen-haired Princess Aurora of Sleeping Beauty - originally modeled after the ambrosial Audrey Hepburn, and known for her elegance, poise, and kindness. Quilting, on the other hand, has always been a factor synonymous with luxury, sophistication, and Chanel. Thus, when I was given the chance to select a laptop bag for review from knomo London, I instantly gravitated towards the Aurora Zip Tote in Parchment, which epitomizes the best of both worlds – an elegant aesthetic, and a sumptuous sophistication.

Constructed out of quilted nylon, and featuring silver hardware and Saffiano trim exterior; the Aurora is the absolute perfect carryall for the fashion-forward girl seeking to tote her tech accessories from Point A to Point B in luxurious style – and doubles as the perfect posh prezzie for Mother’s Day. But what I personally found to be even more fabulous was the versatility level of this particular piece.

The Aurora is an expandable tote; therefore, you can unzip the sides to offer more room, or keep them zipped up tight to fit just your laptop. I myself used the Aurora a few days ago during a commute to Los Angeles by train, wherein I unzipped the sides for expansion, and was able to pop in my laptop, as well as the other essentials I needed for the day – makeup case, a blazer, and extra pairs of shoes. It served as my ‘Throw It All In’ Accessory from dawn ‘til dusk, and earned more compliments than I can count for both its beauty and durability – a dynamic duo of achievements that results in a verdict of five (pink) hearts from this girl on the go!

1) This was created using one of my new favorite colors for the summer – Wet ‘n’ Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color in I Need A Re-Fresh Mint (this is slightly darker than your standard mint shade, and has more of a blue/turquoise undertone – totally reminds me of the ocean!). This is three coats, followed by one coat of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat. House of Harlow 1960 14KT Horseshoe Stack Ring in Yellow Gold. P.S. This is one of Wet ‘n’ Wild’s newer shades, so it has the Manicurve Pro Brush, which is beyond awesome and makes application super simple!

2) To get this look I used Sinful Colors Professional Nail Enamel in 24/7 – this is a really fun neon pink that is actually even brighter in person; it would look incredible for summer pedicures. This is three coats, topped with one coat of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat for added shine. Arrow Connector Ring via Forever 21.

3) To create this lacquer look I used Essie’s Mademoiselle (thank you to Theresa of despising life is so passé. who sent it to me!). This is supposed to be a sheer pink color, but I wanted it to be a bit opaque, so I used four coats here, and one coat of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat. Stackable Ring via Forever 21.

4) Here I used Sinful Colors Professional Nail Enamel in Cinderella. You can’t see it in the picture (as hard as I tried to capture it), but this color actually has pink microglitter mixed in, so you really get that shimmery, Cinderella slipper look which is beyond gorgeous in person. This is three coats, topped with one coat of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat. 8 7/8 Carat Smokey Quartz & Sky Blue Topaz Sterling Silver Ring.

Since the Café Fashionista Book Club debuted in January, we have conquered romance via Jennifer E. Smith’s The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight; paranormalcy via Meg Cabot’s Abandon; and dance via Sophie Flack’s Bunheads. Today we begin tackling something slightly different…The Selection by Kiera Cass.

The Selection the first title in a Trilogy that blends the worlds of dystopia (a la Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games) and reality television (specifically, The Bachelor / The Bachelorette).

Spring break has arrived, and summer is looming; two factors which make shopping a necessity. I’ve already snagged a saucy swimsuit for the coming sultry days; what else is needed? Fashion fact of the day: one in ten women, 80% of the female population, is completely clueless as to what their true bra size is. And no, dolls, I’m not joking.

Lingerie, especially of the bra variety, is oftentimes a sticky situation. And why wouldn’t it be? We are expected to know the difference between band and cup sizes; then have to take into consideration the style of the garment in question – strapless, convertible, halter, criss-cross, sports…it’s enough to drive a sane fashionista out of her stylish mind. Soon we will have My Curves & Me to offer assistance (as well as discount codes, members only sales, an awesome range of products, and a specialized consumer panel) and advice in the world of underwear. Until then, I’m going to offer you a few tips on finding the perfect bra fit…

♥When measuring your band size (remember, fashion measuring tape is essential), take a deep breath, then expel all of the air from your lungs so that you get the snuggest fit.

♥Always round an odd band number up to the nearest even number (for example, if you return a 33” after measuring, round up to a 34”).

♥When measuring your bust size, subtract the number you arrive at from the number of your band size (for example, if your bust size is a 36” and your band size is a 34”, subtract 34” from 36” to arrive at 2”). This number indicates what letter cup you are (in this case, a 2 would be equal to a B-cup).

Mary Jo Matsumoto Debuts Laid-Back Luxury...And I Need It!

Darlings, in a time of economic struggles the term luxury has taken on new meaning. What was once associated with glittering baubles, sparkling sequins, and noir hues has been re-imagined to fit in with a more laid-back lifestyle – one full of bright colors for added cheer, slouchy styles to combat the structure in other areas of one’s life, and textures that are soft to the touch. And one of the people I feel who is at the helm of this laid-back luxury is Mary Jo Matsumoto.

Many of you may remember Mary Jo Matsumoto from when I introduced you to her Pacific Coast Highway Nail Polish Collection back in December 2011; but before Mary Jo began making a name for herself in the beauty department, she was designing handbags which appeared on Oprah; were carried to the Oscars; featured in Cosmopolitan and Glamour; and sold in Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. With the release of her latest Day Bag Line, she is returning to her carryall roots.

Like her nail polish collections, Mary Jo’s new Day Bag Collection is inspired by the Pacific Coast Highway both in color and ambiance. Each bag takes on a trait from the location it is modeled after – be it the PCH Bowler, which bears a beachy blue surf print (created by artist Alex Weinstein); or my personal favorite, the Ritz Cove Oversized Clutch, which blends together Sunshine Yellow, Tangerine, Fuchsia, and Navy colors to create the ultimate in summertime accessories. Yet one commonality each piece (from the Crystal Cove Knot Clutch to the Balboa Island Soft Tote with Turquoise Snake Handles) shares is its ability to not just transport your daily essentials from Point A to Point B; but to wiggle its way into your 24/7 wardrobe – sidling up to your cuffed denim for Sunday Brunch dates with your besties, or stealing the show as an accompaniment to your little black dress for evening affairs.

That’s right, my loves, summertime is fast approaching, which means we are in dire need of sassy shoes that will keep our perfectly-pedicured paws feeling cool and looking chic as the temperatures rise. Pumps, trainers, and espadrilles are a few of my favorite things; and luckily these are the precise styles that have taken over the runways, offering the savvy stylista a fabulous selection of wares to choose from that are equal parts fashion-forward, comfortable, and positively essential for lazy summer days – especially when they come from respected brands like Lacoste!

Though I love the look of leather boots with cutoff denim shorts, I live in an area where the temperatures are known to slip over 100* during the summer season, so they’re an absolute no-no. And while I’m a huge fan of the affordability of flip flops, my toes have experienced too many painful encounters with people wearing heavy shoes, so I avoid these, as well. Pumps, trainers, and espadrilles are my saving grace, as they allow your feet to breathe even when encased in material; offer optimal protection from wayward walkers and shopping carts; and are affordable enough to indulge in a few different pairs, so that you can switch up your style from day to night.

My new favorite summertime go-to is Lacoste. I’ve always been a fan of the green alligator; but only just learned that, aside from the standard fare of polos and perfumes, Lacoste is behind the creation of a wide array of super cute, high-quality summer classics of the footwear variety – from slip-on trainers, to nautical-esque ballet pumps (flats), and charming wedge plimsolls; perfect for pairing with bikinis to board shorts, and flirty frocks to denim minis. They are the epitome of effortless elegance; and the very forms of footwear that will accompany me through all sorts of unexpected summer fun in the coming months!
