Tightwad Tuesday: FRYE Deborah Studded Bootie on a Budget

Darlings, to the left savor the sassy style that is the FRYE Deborah Studded Bootie; on the right alloy your pretty peepers to dance over the decadence of MIA’s Jayne Western Boot.

While the magnificent MIA is a slightly darker shade and proffers a heel that is un petit lower than that of the original; for just $104.47, as opposed to the $497.95 asking price of the FRYE’s, they are every bit as fabulous for the fashionista seeking to add a smattering of cowgirl chic to her shoe collection – at a price that no frugalista could possibly resist!

Tell me, kittens…will you be a big spender and go for FRYE, or be thrifty and spring for MIA?

Sunday Steals: BCBGMAXAZRIA Stretch Sequined Skirt for Less

My loves, in the left corner we have the blissfully sparkling style that is BCBGMAXAZRIA’s Stretch Sequined Skirt; to the right prepare to inhale the glittering aroma that is Charlotte Russe’s Sequined Pencil Skirt.

While the chichi Charlotte creation lacks the horizontal seam detailing of the breathtaking BCBGMAXAZRIA piece, and features an elastic waistband as opposed to the concealed side zip of its haute couture counterpart; for a mere $29.50, in comparison to the $268.00 needed to bask in the body-hugging aesthetic of the BCBGMAXAZRIA stunner, it is every bit as capable of making you twinkle and shine – at a fraction of the cost!

Which role have you decided to undertake on this sultry Sunday, kittens? Tightwad or spendthrift?

Dolls, in the words of Sarah Jessica Parker, “A best friend is like a four leaf clover, hard to find and lucky to have.” The very same thing could, perhaps, be attributed to a fabulous piece of frippery that manages to spruce up any and all pieces of one’s glorious wardrobe – exactly what the Black Enamel Four Leaf Clover Necklace from Regina Pierallini Jewelry Design is capable of doing. 25 Days of Prom Dresses

Darlings, obviously I am incapable of speaking for all of you; but I, for one, have always felt that December would be a far more appropriate time to hold prom, as opposed to the standard April or May dates. After all, in the words of crooner Andy Williams, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” The one time where you can feel the magic in the air, vibrating and sparkling and dancing around your person; when snowflakes and stars twinkle like angels, and each day is enveloped in a new sort of excitement that is yours for the taking.

But I digress; sadly, December has never before been the time for such an event. It is, however, the biggest shopping month of the year – in other words…a sublime moment to begin your search for perfect prom dresses and prom gowns.

Think about it, my loves; putting off such a purchase leaves you scavenging among the leftover racks weeks before the big day – all while juggling a full class load and social obligations. But December…

…December is a time when school is obsolete, and one can devote their full time and attention to weighing the benefits of a strapless neckline a la the Beaded Strapless Ball Gown with Full Tulle Skirt against a halter holdup like the Silky Knit Halter Gown with Beaded Brooch Detail; comparing and contrasting solid colors like the Chiffon Gown with Cascading Ruffle Detail, with fierce and fabuleux animal prints courtesy of the Charmeuse Animal Print Gown with Beading; and, most important, making the decision between a blissful ball gown like the Beaded Strapless Taffeta Pick Up Ball Gown, or a flirty frock a la the Short Strapless Tiered Tulle Dress.

As Wilhela Cushman once said, “Just around the corner in every woman's mind - is a lovely dress, a wonderful suit, or entire costume which will make an enchanting new creature of her.” Why not uncover such a glamorous garment during the season when the world is merry and bright, mais oui?

Why yes, Mr. Williams; I couldn’t agree more. It certainly is the most wonderful time of the year – for prom dress shopping, that is!

Fabulous on Fifth Giveaway

Mon petit coquettes, it is no surprise that behind every handbag in one’s collection is a harrowing tale of how we brought such an accessory into our lives; but just as there is a story behind every acquisition, there is also a tell-all behind every creation – just ask Marcia Sherrill.

Years ago, Marcia and her husband created Kleinberg Sherrill, a luxury handbag collection that was carried in major department stores the world over and received write-ups in every publication from Vogue and ELLE to W, The New York Times, and Women’s Wear Daily. After a torturous divorce, however, Marcia was left a penniless pauper as opposed to the pretty, pretty princess with a penchant for purses she once was.

Nevertheless, as a fashion-forward fighter, Marcia refused to take her situation lying down, vowing to reestablish herself as something bigger and better than before. And she has, in the form of two new handbag lines – Anabelle by Marcia Sherrill, “an affordable line for the preppy girl on the go,” and Sherrill Ltd., which “consists of classic silhouettes in luxurious exotic skins, which will be exclusively retailed to philanthropists and the like.”

CF: What is the inspiration behind collections such as the London Series, Fifth Avenue Series, and Palm Beach Series?

Marcia:
I am inspired by places and people, on both broad avenues and narrow alleys. People everywhere. Each series of bags is designed with women in mind, doing all sorts of things. I want to make the bags both functional and beautiful.

CF: Do you build your outfits around your handbag, or put together an outfit and then choose which handbag would look best with it?

Marcia:
I can’t help myself, I am a Bag Lady, so for me, it always starts with the bag. Right now, I have a new red bag and no one has seem me in anything but black for a year, so I am changing it up and going bright with the new bag and a fabulous new attitude! A good way to live your life!

CF: If you were to buy five things right now, what would they be?
Marcia:
An iPad, a home in Southhampton, New York (I love the serenity of the beach!), a Vespa that I could have painted with the Anabelle pineapples, an apartment next to mine for my mother, another French Bulldog - I would like a “pack.”

Now, as a way to truly introduce her new line to the world; Marcia is being so kind as to bring one (1) Café Fashionista reader the Small Deenie Bag in Black (valued at $90.00) from the Fifth Avenue Series.

To Enter the Fabulous on Fifth Giveaway:

For one (1) entry, leave a comment on this post stating what Anabelle by Marcia Sherrill bag is your favorite between now and Friday, December 10, 2010 at midnight PST.

For two (2) entries, Twitter about this giveaway, and leave a comment on this post stating what Anabelle by Marcia Sherrill bag is your favorite between now and Friday, December 10, 2010 at midnight PST with your Twitter URL.

I will randomly pick one (1) name out of a hat (who knows, it could be yours!), and announce the winner on Saturday, December 11, 2010.

And yes, this Giveaway is open to everyone – U.S. or International residents!
