Beachy Keen!

"Women shop for a bikini with more care than they do a husband. The rules are the same. Look for something you'll feel comfortable wearing. Allow for room to grow."
Erma Bombeck

As any girl who has so much as contemplated a trip to the pool or beach can tell you, Swimwear is not merely a small sliver of wardrobe space visited between the months of May and August before being locked away until the next swim season; rather, it is an entire closet unto itself that is modified and updated throughout all twelve months of the year (including winter – hello hot tubs!), encompassing not just bikinis, but sundresses, cover-ups, sunglasses, bags, and sandals. How do I know this? I will confess; I am a swimwear-aholic.

Like many other beach babes, I am always on the hunt for a new bikini or sarong to add to my burgeoning collection. It makes no difference that I have countless pieces peering out of my bureau, tags intact; there is something liberating, inspiring, and thrilling about having a new piece of swimwear in one’s possession – especially when it is a piece that makes you look and feel fabulous. And what makes me look and feel fabulous? Bandeaus!

Currently, my swimwear essentials are bandeau bikini tops and low-rise hipkini bottoms in neon peach hues; skin-toned wedge sandals with barely-there ankle straps; sarongs in bright colors that make one feel like a belly-dancer; oversized sunglasses; and sand-skimming maxi dresses.

In light of tomorrow’s swim-centric holiday, tell me…what are your swim essentials?

Fashionably yours!

Love the posted photo! Some of my essentials: gorgeous sheer coverup tunic in either a wild hue or print (or both), jeweled sandals, a large fashionably floppy hat and lots of sun protection!

Lovely collection of swimwear here. I am not a swimwear-aholic but one of my sisters certainly is. It always makes me realise how much there is to the whole concept of swimwear, like you say a whole closet.

Such gorgeous usmmer looks. I am partial to summer hats myself. They are so cute and also shield you fromt he sun. What I do need to invest more in is coverups. I don't think I have ANY!

p.s. thank you SO much for your kind words on the blog, Erika! You are amazing!

My essentials (besides the suit) are a white T to wear for cover-up, sun screen, and a beach umbrella!

I own approximately 7 bikinis. I never go to the beach, sit around water, or tan. I just wear them around the house.

You know, swimwear used to have such limited options when I was growing up! In just a few years, there has been such a sea change... Love these designs... Just fabulous!

I don't have a swimsuit, which is shameful because I really should. I would like something classic, though, with a mesh cover-up. That would be perfect.

ain't that the truth! always trying to find the suit that makes you not awkward :) I love your essentials- sounds close to mine.

I have a couple really expensive bikinis and then I am sure to stock up on Target tops each summer bc they're just so cute and cheap!
