october 2016 empties!

I love big hair {i.e. lots of volume}, so when I spotted this John Frieda Luxurious Volume Thickening Shampoo {$5.99}, and noted the mega-affordable price, I had to give it a try. I like it. A lot. While it doesn't give you blowout-worthy big hair, it does create a lot of lift and body {even for the straightest strands}. The downside is that the fragrance is a little weak - I wouldn't mind a stronger smell. OCCASIONAL RE-BUY {I still prefer my Juice Organics Repairing Shampoo}.

When I found butter LONDON Double Decker Lashes Mascara in STACKED BLACK {$20.00} in one of my sample bags, I was beyond because I've always had a great relationship with butter LONDON polishes, and mascara deluxe samples make me weak in the knees. True story. There is so much that I love about this mascara. The brush itself is fantastic, with super soft bristles that separate and coat lashes evenly; the color is a rich, gorgeous black; and the formula gives lashes insane volume. Where this one failed for me is in the length department. It added no length to my lashes; and since I don't do falsies, and can't stand having to use multiple mascaras, that was a total dealbreaker for me. NOT a re-buy.

My shampoo and conditioner are always in a couples relationship, so when I bought the shampoo above of course I had to grab the matching John Frieda Luxurious Volume Thickening Conditioner {$5.99}. Like with the shampoo, I found that the conditioner created a fabulous fullness in my locks; but it also left my hair feeling super soft, and with 0 tangles - not to mention it's v lightweight. OCCASIONAL RE-BUY.

I have read sososo many positive reviews of The Body Shop Hand Cream in COCONUT {$8.00}; so when a deluxe sample arrived in one of my ULTA orders, I couldn't wait to give it a try. Maybe I'm in the minority when I say this, but...I wasn't a fan. While the texture was great {not too runny, too waxy, or too thick}; there was no wow factor in terms of how it made my skin feel. I will admit that I enjoyed the coconut fragrance; but, at times, I found it too overwhelming for my heightened sense of smell. Cute for a holiday gift; but I'm just not feeling it. NOT a re-buy.

SEXY HAIR Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner has become an absolute staple in my hair care routine, so when I received not one, but two deluxe samples of It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product {$18.00}, I was thrilled at the chance to try it out. Sadly, this one simply wasn't my cup of tea. The main pro for It's A 10 is the fragrance. It has that salon-smell that lingers for hours {which I love!}; but I found a lot of waste with this one. It is thicker, and less diluted than the product from SEXY HAIR, making it harder to spray on {regardless of how much shaking of the bottle I performed}. In the end, 1/4 of product was left trapped in each bottle - not cool if you're on a budget {or otherwise}. NOT a re-buy.

Oh my land ladies I have found the holy grail of lash products this month, and it is tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara in BLACK {$23.00}. Aside from an ultra-pretty tube I had no clue what to expect when I whipped this baby open, but it is pure satisfaction! Tarteist has a plastic applicator that manages to add intense volume and length to each lash {think falsies effect}, along with one of the deepest black tones I have ever seen! I was so disappointed when I finished this one, as it basically blows every other mascara I have ever tried out of the water. This one right here is my new HG. TOTAL RE-BUY.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that L'OREAL Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in CARBON BLACK {$9.99} makes an appearance in almost every. single. one. of my #motd posts, and that is because I could never, ever live without it. Aside from the insane rich black shade, the pen-like applicator provides optimum control, allowing you to get a crisp, clean wing with minimal effort. What keeps me coming back, however, is the fact that this stuff does not move. I return home each day with my eyeliner looking as perfect as it did when I left the house in the morning - and that's something to take note of! FOREVER RE-BUY.

Michael Kors fragrances just get me, so when Michael Kors Wonderlust Eau de Parfum {$88.00} arrived alongside a recent Sephora order, I basically went to town with it immediately. You guys, Wonderlust is autumn perfection! The blend of sandalwood, almond milk, cashmeran wood, and dianthus envelops you like a warm sweater, making you feel ridiculously cozy, and leaving behind #allthefallfeels. Obsessed does not even begin to describe how I feel about this one - you need to try it for yourself! DEFINITE RE-BUY {when on sale}.

Truth: I only began using hair spray this year to hold beach waves, and wound up purchasing Tresemme TRES Two Hair Spray {$3.49} out of the gate due to affordability; so imagine my sheer shock / joy / surprise when it turned out to be a totally awesome hold hero! But seriously...this stuff is amazing. It doesn't make your hair stiff, sticky, or crunchy when you use it; and it brushes out seamlessly. It also has a v inoffensive fragrance that is nearly discernible, and holds. all. day.. Though I originally purchased this product to use only on days when I was curling / waving my hair; I now use it almost daily on a variety of hairstyles - most notably side braids. TOTAL RE-BUY.

Have you tried any of these products before? Thoughts?
