NOTD: Essie Mint Candy Apple

This is three coats of Essie's Mint Candy Apple from the Winter 2009 Collection. Creme De Menthe Minte.

Yes, this shade was released years ago, but I whip it out multiple times throughout the year {especially during the winter / spring seasons} as it is an absolute classic {i.e. clear a spot for it on your shelf right between Essie's essential vamp-tastic Wicked, and ultra-feminine Ballet Slippers}. The color leans toward the realm of mint chocolate chip ice cream {being far more pale in hue than China Glaze's For Audrey}; and looks incredible on any skintone. I honestly cannot sing its praises more...just get a bottle {if you don't already have one, that is}. A Note: I find that pastel colors can sometimes be thinner and more runny than darker shades {hence the three coats}; but if you shake the bottle between coats, it helps the formula to regroup, and build opacity {at least from my experience}.

Love the color and the product.

I've been wearing Orlay's "hidden treasure." I think it'll be one of my favorites.

I usually save this sort of mint for March, but I have several shades now. I love essie!

Thanks to you.

I've noticed a lot of blues out there these days.

Very pretty. Great to see this color out there. I'll definitely have to find mine. I get a lot of comments when I wear it. One co-worker told me it reminded her of the 60's.

Lovely! I've found that to be the case for pastel colors. Love your tips on manies too.

Love it! I tend to be so conservative with my nail choice colors.. But I have a feeling that this spring is the time to mix things up! And maybe I'll start with your recommendation.

Another beautiful shade! I am going to pick up some nail supply stuff today at CVS. I didn't know there were things called "base coats" and cuticle pusher-backer things. I will have to look for this shade while I am there!

Ah I remember when this first came out and I was obsessed with it! Over the past couple years I've pretty much gravitated to conservative "office-safe" colors though. This week is OPI's french bordeaux!
