Essie Winter 2014 Mini Cube Review

I love the Mini Cubes that Essie releases each season because I rarely finish a full-size bottle of polish, so I decided to pick up the Essie Winter 2014 Mini Cube for the holidays. Though, after swatching, I feel that the shades are more suited for Valentine's Day than Christmas; they are a gorgeous quartet for the gal who loves a classic hue on her tips. Enough chitchat...time for swatches!

Double Breasted Jacket is a Strawberry Red Creme. Everything about this shade is perfect - from the color to the formula {which is so amazing to work with you'll want to use it again and again. This is my favorite of the quartet - and one that will be making a reappearance on my tips and toes come spring / summertime. Doesn't it make you want to sing Strawberry Fields Forever? This is 2 coats.

Tuck It In My Tux is a Sheer White Crelly. Tuck It In My Tux reminds me a bit of Essie's Mademoiselle in terms of formula, opacity, and coverage. It's a little thick, but I still used thick coats for application, which helped it to build quickly - the only issue is that it then feels weird-ish on the nail. I like it as a base color for glitter. This is 2 thick coats.

Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low is a Platinum Metallic Foil. This is a seriously awesome shade for the girl who can't decide between silver and gold because it manages to blend the 2 shades into one shimmery bottle of brilliance! As a metallic shade, the formula is slightly thinner than the creme colors, but still very easy to work with. This is 2 coats.

Jump In My Jumpsuit is a Cherry Red with Blue Undertones. The pictures here do not do this color justice. IRL, the shade is richer - more berry red. The color itself is not terribly unique, but the formula was flawless - highly-saturated in terms of color, and perfect self-leveling. This is 2 coats.

AVAILABILITY: Ulta for the cube; mass market merchandisers, drugstores, and department stores for individual bottles.

PRICE: $17.00; or buy full-size bottles separately for $8.50 each.

Love that second to last shade! I love mixing silver and gold, and this nail polish would bring different metals together so nicely.
