short {and sassy!} prom dresses

I’m a petite gal myself, so I definitely have a tendency to opt for short dresses when it comes to selecting formal attire. We’re talking micro-mini, barely-there hemlines that show-off legs that go on for days {and pair brilliantly with teetering nude heels}. I find the aesthetic itself to be ultra-flirty, sassy, and fun {not to mention perfect for twirling}; while being super-apropos and flattering for the vertically-challenged ladies. Short dresses are also, in my personal opinion, an adorbs pick for Prom!

I know what you’re thinking, Prom is a massive event – one that calls for OTT formal attire ranging from ball gowns to floor-skimming skirts, not a short dress that seems suited for a cocktail party. This is where you’re wrong. Short Prom Dresses are an ultra-amazing choice for dancing the night away with the {current} boy of your dreams, plus they’re easier to walk in {no worries about catching heels in hemlines} and have that coquettish vibe going on.

Truth: I kind of wish I was on my way to prom this year, because the dresses get prettier and prettier each season; but, alas, I am not. There is, however, Valentine’s Day, and these pieces from PickeDresses would be just as glamorous for the celebration of love as they are for the formal event of the year. Here are my Top 3 faves. Come swoon with me lovelies!

Sheath/Column Scoop Short/Mini Tulle Appliques Prom Dresses {$127.88}
Can we just agree that sheer-paneling is hands-down the # 1 must-try trend of 2015? But seriously…it adds so much to a dress in the most basic of ways: giving you a nearly-naked look. I’m adoring this particular piece because it’s v reminiscent of the lace dresses from the Zuhair Murad runway {which I absolutely adored}. This is, unquestionably, my favorite of the short dress selections!

Empire Straps Short/Mini Tulle Appliques Prom Dresses {$99.28}
This dress basically combines all of the things I love into one fabulous frock! The tulle skirt? So v. ballerina. The brocade detailing? Downright unexpected, but ideal for channeling that ultra-royal Queen of Scotland Mary Stuart style from Reign {you have seen Reign, right?}. The empire waistline + champagne color? Check and check! It’s an absolute stunner from top to bottom – and a piece that I desperately want in my special event wardrobe!

Empire One Shoulder Short/Mini Chiffon Pleats Prom Dresses {$77.31}
That one-shoulder detailing though…I absolutely L-O-V-E the fact that a super simple addition of an embellished one-shoulder strap literally transforms this dress from basic to goddess-inspired. It doesn’t hurt that the cut-out back creates the most brilliant sexy juxtaposition to the super sweet baby pink shade.

Which dress is your favorite?

xx

Love these. I'm not tall and these would suit me better than a super long gown.
