For those of you who are unfamiliar with ipsy, it is a beauty subscription service that costs $10 per month {awesome deal IMO}, and consists of a collectible makeup bag {can also double as a clutch} along with 5 beauty samples that are customized to your personal beauty profile {which you can change/update at anytime}. I love getting subscription boxes, but don't have a ton of extra cash to spare, so I find ipsy to be the best value as each month's bags are adorable, the products are of fantastic quality, and their stylists are top-notch {and some of my fave beauty bloggers}. That being said, let's get to the bag!
August's theme was Sugar Highness {a theme v reminiscent of one of my favorite things: Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette!}. Inside my bag was a full-size Ciaté Paint Pot in DANGEROUS AFFAIR, mini WINKY LUX Diamond Complexion Powder in LIGHT, sample size tarte TARTEIST Lash Paint Mascara in BLACK, full-size Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner in VANILLA COCONUT CREAM, and sample size Olive Natural Beauty Anti-Aging Facial Moisturizer.
When I pulled WINKY LUX's Diamond Complexion Powder out of my bag I could not contain my excitement, as this is the first time that I have ever received a highlighter in my bag {I know, right?!}. While my excitement over the product inclusion itself was massive, my enthusiasm dwindled once I tried the product out. I love a, for lack of better words, punch in the face highlight - something so glowy that you can see it in the dark {and, if lucky, from outer space}; this just didn't deliver it. While I lovelovelove how soft this product is on the skin, and how buildable it is, I just find the end result incredibly lackluster and unimpressive. Womp womp.
I will never {ever ever ever} tire of receiving mascara samples, especially when they come wrapped in pretty packaging, so you know I went a little gaga when I pulled tarte's TARTEIST Lash Paint Mascara out of my bag {that gold and black just gets me!}. tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara was the first non-drugstore mascara I ever purchased; and while I no longer use it, I still have a soft spot for the brand {makeup memories and all that}, so I was v excited to try this beauty. For good reason too because it. is awesome. The brush here is plastic and very reminiscent of that found on Benefit's Roller Lash Mascara {one of my faves!}. Like Benefit's Roller Lash, Tarteist's brush coats every single lash with a rich black pigmentation that lasts all day. Though it applies semi-thick, it doesn't feel clumpy on the lashes, and doesn't harden them the way some mascaras do. I may have to buy the full-size!
I'm basically a lip balm hoarder due to the fact that I use it so much {underneath my lipgloss or lipstick, before bed...} so I was thrilled to try Jersey Shore Sun's Mongongo Lip Conditioner in VANILLA COCONUT CREAM. The flavor/scent is fantastic {anything vanilla quickly becomes a fave of mine!}, and the overall feel on the lips is heavenly! You guys, this stuff is so incredibly moisturizing and nourishing. After just a few uses your lips feel baby soft; and for that I'm stocking up on more ASAP! Did I mention that I think of Snooki and The Situation whenever I use it? #sorrynotsorry
Truth: I already own Ciaté Paint Pot in DANGEROUS AFFAIR; but since it's one of my all-time favorite shades, and I only own the mini version, I couldn't be mad about receiving the full-size. OMG ladies I l-o-v-e this shade. There's something about burgundy colors that just get me, ja feel? For a dark hue, Dangerous Affair has a smooth, easy to apply formula that requires minimal muss and fuss; unfortunately, it does need three coats to achieve full opacity, as it is a bit patchy during application. Given how gorgeous the end result is, however, it's def. not a deal breaker. Highly recommend this lovely!
I won't even bother going into my I'm so over receiving moisturizers spiel {been there, done that}. and just move onto my thoughts regarding Olive Natural Beauty Anti-Aging Facial Moisturizer. Being an avid Rachael Ray fan, I loved the concept of an olive oil-based moisturizer; however, as I don't have dry skin, this just made me feel greasy. For someone with dry skin, I could see this being an amazing product, as it is v hydrating and moisturizing; but for someone with normal skin it's a no go.

What a great score this month! The lip balm sounds wonderful :)
I'm so glad you're happy with the things you got this month, everything sounds awesome! And yay for the full-size Ciate nail polish in this beautiful shade, it really looks so pretty! xx
Now THAT is a GREAT bag! I subscribe to Birchbox and even though it can be hit or miss depending on the month, I also agree that $10/month is an awesome deal and definitely worth it! Even on the "meh" box months! :)
Absolutely loving that nail polish color (and bottle!) and the bag.
