Smitten Saturday

Pouch Potato Don’t think me a hypocrite by admitting this, as it is the holiday season – a time of confessions to ensure that one remains on Cupid’s good list, and doesn’t awake on Valentine’s Day morning sans a gleaming arrow in the front lawn or a box of chocolates by her bedside; but I am guilty of betrayal. Constantly I go on and on about my adoration for oversized handbags, and while such a proclamation has always been the truth, I must reveal that a new style of carryall has claimed my heart…la pouch.

Blame it upon my many rereads of Wharton’s The Age of Innocence, or my love for Anna Godbersen’s The Luxe, but I truly find it downright impossible to resist the receptacle-like contours and design of the petite pouches so frequently seen swinging to and fro from the dainty wrists of socialites during the Gilded Age. Thus, I am out to find one all my own. Lena Erziak’s Star Bag mixes modern with vintage courtesy of the shimmering gold star-shaped studs adorning its red suede surface. Good old-fashioned elegance and glamour is easy to achieve with Khirma Eliazov’s Mignonne Pouch. And it’s utterly impossible not to stir up a whirlwind of drama with Forever 21’s Vintage Rosette Purse in tow. Would you consider yourself a pouch potato dolls?

Pillow Talk Perhaps I am the only one whom feels this way, but I must admit that there is something quite enchanting about sassy script. The way the letters loop luxuriously, interlocking between one another to spell out everything from names to tongue-twisters possesses an elegant aesthetic which is an absolute delight to receive – especially in this day of technology where the typewritten word is most common in our lives. But alas; it seems very few are tickled by the fairytale-inspired whimsy brought about by handwritten notes covered in such pretty penmanship. Now, however, we no longer have to wait for a cute, yet completely clueless boy to, for lack of better words, get a clue; we can simply indulge in haute handwriting ourselves via LuLu DK’s Love Decorative Pillow – a picturesque place to lay our heads down covered in embroidery proclaiming the word “Love” in charming calligraphy. Ready for a bit of pillow talk, kitty cats?

Keep the Cocktail, Just Give Me the Dress Darlings despite the pretty pink pallor of the Cosmo so adored by Carrie Bradshaw, or the fact that cognac-hued Brandy matches nearly half of the contents of my shoe collection, I have never been tempted to sip upon one of these shimmering drinks; rather, they have simply become an accessory in which I clasp between my lacquered fingernails as I make the rounds about sophisticated parties, hobnobbing with handsome gentlemen and posh princesses dressed to the nines. Even so, my disinterest in cocktails has never prohibited me from fawning over cocktail dresses – specifically those crafted by New York City based Alexia Admor.

With over twenty years of crafting saucy numbers in the very heart of Manhattan’s fabulous fashion district, the designers of Alexia Admor have honed their creativity, embracing aesthetics with the ability to wow everyone from the girl next door constantly seen donning blue jeans and slouchy tees, to the glamorous goddess whom never steps foot outside without crimson lips and loads of eyeliner highlighting her pretty peepers. From the Ruffle Spaghetti Strap Silk Blouson and Jeweled Waist Strapless Sweetheart Taffeta Dress for the playful, to the Jeweled Neckline Two Tone Silk Charmeuse Taffeta Dress and Jeweled Neck Shimmer Satin A-Line Dress for the cultivated, Alexia Admor proffers a bit of beauty for everyone. Which cocktail dress is calling your name?

What were you smitten with this week?

Fashionably yours!

A cocktail as an accessory! Looove it! But seriously I love script too darling! And its slow but sturdy disappearance breaks my heart. That sounds like an adorable pillow though, and it would be such a lovely change from my normal everyday pillow patterns:)

I'm a big fan of clutches actually. I love the oversized bag as well-but a small clutch can really make a HUGE statement.

I am currently smitten with perfume. I don't really wear it, but I'm sure I would if I bought the right scents, like Ooh La La by Victoria's Secret or Twilight Woods by Bath&Body. I actually went through a couple cocktails last night and boy did I wake up with a huge headache lol. I like the dress part better as well.

What was I smitten with? That's a good question. Oh I know: I got a press release from Topshop about the first design collections of the year: Mary Katrantzou who I discovered @ LFW (met her mom, actually) & Richard Nicoll, doing all these wonderful things in Nude. I really should do a post on them.

Okay: I've decided: I'm smitten with a Richard Nicoll for Topshop Bandeaau stripe denim zip off dress in a kind of nude/pink for £65. I'll post it, you'll love it, E.

I can't open the Alexi Anjor links but that one looks great. Seeing lots o'beige for spring, I love it! Hope you're having a good weekend. xx

I am guilty of loving cocktails, cocktail dresses and cocktail parties! Unfortunately I haven't been going out as much, so I look at all the beautiful dresses but don't actually get any unless I know I'll be wearing it soon :) This week I've been loving comfy wear for lectures. My favorite are layered tunics under a warm cardigan, a warm scarf, thick tights and kneehigh flat boots!

I must also admit I love over size handbags but there are times when I ditch it all for a smaller tory burch resin clutch. I have them in 2 colors and it simplifies my life!

OOO, I love the pouches you picked out. Big handbags have their place, but these are something special.
I'm definitely smitten with any thing teddy bears this week; have been for the last month or so. Bears are my favourite, so why not have some jewelery and other items dedicated to them?

On a Sunday morning my choice would always be dress (+ an aspirin) over cocktails - especially if it's such a pretty one! Do I detect a weakness for colourful balloons in you, Erika? Wishing you a lovely Sunday!
