Why Don't You...?

…go ice skating a la Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack in Serendipity? No embarrassment allowed – falling down and making a fool of oneself is all part of the fun!

…purposely get all dressed up despite the fact that you have nowhere to go? Slip into a sweeping, floor-length gown, and spend the evening feeling like a debutante. You never know when Prince Charming will knock at the door.

…shelve your typical reading material and delve into a tale penned in a foreign language? Devour Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones’ Diary in Italian; savor Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea in Japanese; inhale Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice in German; and if you’re feeling truly precocious, take a tryst with Kay Thompson’s Plaza-dwelling darling Eloise in French.

…pull out a stack of pretty stationary and pen an old-fashioned letter to the individual whose style you admire most?

…replace greasy bags of potato chips and salty snacks with posh hors d’oeuvres consisting of Antipasto Skewers, Quiche Lorraine, and General Tso's Chicken Dumplings? Line them up on smashing sterling silver serving trays and invite a gaggle of your girlfriends over for an impromptu gathering.

Fashionably yours!

Getting all dressed up and having nowhere to go... Sounds like the story of my life. But then I take Bridget Jones' diary and we suffer together. Always love your ideas, Erika!

I always love your lists! So many great ideas :) I used to do "wine & cheese" dates with my girlfriends. We'd a buy bottle from a different part of the globe and luxuriate in various kinds of cheeses. Mmmm....Just thinking of it makes me giddy!

Oh I have always wanted to read a favorite book in another language! I took French and I have always wanted to read something in French :)

I love the idea of dressing up with nowhere to go. My Best friend Jamie and I always say that we are going to put on our old prom dresses and go bowling. :)

Serendipity is a great movie, I just might opt for that instead of the skating! Love the stationary idea too, so inspiring to write someone a note on.

You're too cute! Love the idea about ice skating and falling (I would definitely not be a graceful sight out there on the ice!)... ;)

The "Why Don't You . . . ?" posts are my fave. They're dreamy and thoughtful.

The girl in the photo looks uber stylish - hate her. =)

Special L-O-V-E for "Serendipity" (heart John Cusack), Bridget Jones' Diary (confession: I've never read the book, but I adore the movie), and "Pride and Prejudice" (Mr. Darcy gets me every time - seriously. I adore the movie with Keira Knightley.)

There is something so special about pretty stationary and receiving things in the mail.

Fabu, sweetie.

Merci beaucoup for the lovely comment darling =]
