Tightwad Tuesday: Steve Madden Intyce Boot for Less

Steve was destined to be the love of my life. From the moment I was first introduced to his stylish splendor via a pair of Mary-Jane pumps back in the seventh grade I knew that our paths would cross over and over again as time went by – and it has, especially in the form of boots. Last year it was the Fiorentini + Baker Eternity lookalike Buck; the year before it was the equestrian-inspired Kannon; and previous to that it was the sticky and sweet Hunny. It is a neverending cycle; though certainly not a vicious one. Each year, as I begin the hunt for a new form of fall perfect footwear, I turn immediately to Steve’s delicious creations. This season is no different; though as opposed to previous years, I am not gaga over the cognac and tan fabrications. This time around my heart belongs to a refined black beauty aptly titled Intyce.

So very rarely do I allow myself to indulge in a boot with any form of embellishment or decoration. Typically I look for styles that are plain yet perfect in their very own ways – ideal for decorating as one sees fit; the Intyce is an exception to my own personal rule. Her petite buckled detail about the shaft is not cumbersome or offensive in any way possible. Quite the opposite, in fact. The gold belted ornamentation is, if I do say so myself, completely elegant and modest; yet imposing in its own stylish way – an exemplary way to add a splash of fabulousness to a crinkled black leather palette. But it’s not just the buckle that has me seeing red; the one-inch hidden sliver wedge is quite an appealing addition for the sheer fact that it will give my five foot one-and-a-half stature un petit boost that will not make me teeter or sway unsteadily on my feet, but simply add a little lift to my life.

Of course, with all good things there is a downfall, and Steve is capable of so many. I am not one to stay true to just one pair of shoes. I scatter myself and bits and pieces of my heart over a wide array of splendrous footwear; therefore I don’t like spending too much on each pair. At $169.95, I see Intyce, while easy on the eyes, a bit harsh on my pocketbook. Thus Courage a beauteous pair of black boots crafted by Steve Madden’s more wallet-friendly line of footwear SM New York is more fitting for my fashion-forward persona.

At $39.99, Courage is just as sleek, sophisticated, and pristine as his more expensive counterpart Intyce; with the bonus of leaving a bit more money in the pocket of the purchaser, so she can indulge in another pair, or three, of fall-inspired footwear purchases to truly enhance her wardrobe.

It’s up to you darlings…will you bite the bullet and splurge on Intyce, or play the role of stingy seductress by saving with Courage?

Fashionably yours!

Thanks to Steve Madden and Sears for the pictures.

Steve Madden is getting really good at what he does! I can see hints of every designer in his shoes and I am amazed! I like to wear a cheaper boot in the real snow and bite the bullet. The fancy boots are no good for rough snow play =)

Look nearly the same too me- good classic piece. If you want to "invest" and wear year after year, I'd go w/ the real deal, if not, save!

That is a great boot.

I agree that embelishments can be too much, but I like the buckle here. It looks great!

Ok, Hunny is just gorgeous! This is a great shoe, I tried on a pair almost identical at Charlotte Russe but the buckle bunched up at didn't provide me with the smooth look I was going for. Now, on to Sears thanks to you! And I adore the outfit you you described on my page!

You always find such great items!

I am of a slightly different camp - I LOVE embelishing, the more studs, buckles, and chains on my boots the better! But There are times when I find myself in need of a basic subtle boot. Of course I who really wants to spend a fortune on basics!! So I'm glad you suggested the thriftier way to do this boot look cause that's what all be going for :)

p.s. Sorry I've been MIA all weekend, but as per your earlier post I have 2 pairs of Hunter Wellies and I LIVE in them through the winter months here!!

They are both gorgeous. I love the simple and sleek style of your choices. Steve has been the love of my life for the longest time too.

They're both fab, and having not experienced the quality of either, I would go for the cheaper ones. They look v similar and the heels aren't high enough to justify. Maybe.

Those boots are so great and look like they'll go with everything. I'm edfinitely going with the Steve Madden ones. I know they're more expensive, but I also know that I would really wear them out and get value for my money!

Okay, learned my new thing for the day. I've never heard of Steeve Madden, possibly because he's not in the UK, but I'm looking thru his boots.. this season I love how there's something for everyone, and he's got some great stuff. Even some nice Cuban heels!

As I already got a similar pair of black riding boots last year, just plainer - without the buckle, which I love, too - and wear them everywhere - I'm leaning towards booties, either Carlinn for that silhouette I'm longing for, or the more practical Tytin.

I love his names. Actually, that's a great style game: which Steve Madden boots are you?

Can I steal it and credit you for turning me onto him? xxx

love this type of boots, so comfortable! :) You always find something so nice!

They are both awesome. Of course if I was going to buy a pair and had the cash, I would go for Steve. Being thrifty and broke, I would go with the others.

One can easily justify splurging on a more expensive closet addition if it can be considered a classic - something you know you'll wear a lot (thus getting your money's worth). Simple styles always have longevity. Save on trendy. Invest in classics - if you have the money to. =)

Ooh this boot is gorgeous. I must check it out.
And I agree, with boots I like to keep it classic.

Steve Madden is really good for those who crave style on a budget. Too bad he's getting sued by Alexander McQueen for taking imitation a tad too far.

Hmmm... tough choice. Some boots are actually worth the splurge - I would say try them and see which one are more comfy! I was actually surprising myself today, checking out overly buckled and decorated boots in several stores... what is going on? Am I possibly reading too many fashion blogs?! :D

Wow. You're really starting to change my whole philosophy on footwear. Thosse really used to be my investment pieces, but now there seem to see such great alternatives out there, it could change the whole way I shop!

Steve is great, I always try to save a little bit on my winter boots though, I guess I would die in unimaginable agony if my couple-of-hundreds shoes (like those beautiful Chloe wedges!) were to be destroyed as the roads are snow bound. Painful experience I guess.

gahhh.. such a jaw dropping shoe !

I feel the same way about Steve Madden. In fact, I jumped for joy when a branch opened in my little city. Haha. Before that, I ordered shoes online.
